Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word

Before we begin, only if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is; you have believed [trusted] in Him for His promised gift of eternal life) John 3:16, John 6:47 as a few examples; it is very important to prepare yourself to learn God's Word so the Holy Spirit can teach you as to what your reading or hearing is true or false. To be taught by the Holy Spirit you must be filled with the Holy Spirit which means abiding in Christ. To place yourself in fellowship with God the Holy Spirit [also called abiding in the Christ], take a moment to simply name, cite or acknowledge [confess] your known unconfessed sins privately to God (i.e.; with your thoughts directed only to God the Father). Why? Because you cannot grow spiritually if you’re not abiding in Christ [in fellowship with Him] when you take in bible truth.

1 John 1:9, says: “If we confess [meaning to simply name, cite or acknowledge to God the Father] our sins [known unconfessed sins], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins [known sins] and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [all unknown and forgotten sins];” NKJV (New King James Version); we call this REBOUND; read the full doctrine as to “why” we need to use 1 John 1:9 to grow spiritually. Left click the following link to learn more and fully understand the doctrine of Rebound; which answers the question, why do I need to keep confessing my sins all the time? REBOUND

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins; the issue for you is to simply exercise faith alone in Jesus Christ alone eternal life; when you do, you will instantly receive Eternal Life: John 3:16, 5:24, 6:47, 20:30, 31.

John 6:47 says: "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life." NKJV

Notice again what Jesus said in John 6:47: "…he who believes in Me (Jesus Christ) has everlasting life." It doesn't say, "will have"; it says, "has." Therefore, the very moment you believe in Jesus Christ for His promise of everlasting life, you have it (it's really just that simple; nothing more and nothing less), and it can never be taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift (Ephesians 2:8c) of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-15, 16, 17, 18, says: "14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for worship and learning God's Word. If there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

Study to show yourself approved to God!

STUDY TITLE:

Weekly Bible Study; May 23, 2022; The Angelic Conflict. Part 1. Introduction and Definition.

Week Ending 11-20-2005

We have been noting seven reasons for the world's hostility and hatred toward the believer: 1) Because the kosmos system hates Christ.

2) Because once a person is in the plan of God, as a believer priest, they no longer belong to the world.

3) Because of the principle: the slave is not greater than his master (Jn 15:20).

4) Because the kosmos is ignorant of the plan of God (Jn 15:21).

5) Because their (those in the kosmos) old sin nature is exposed.

6) Because the world hates God the Son and therefore they hate God the Father Who sent Him. By the way, the world does not hate God the Holy Spirit, because they really know nothing about Him. That's why 1Co 2:14 says:

Finally, in Jn 15:23-24, we read, "He who hates Me hates My Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well." This leads us to the seventh reason the kosmos hates the believer found in Jn 15:25, "But {they have done this} in order that the word may be fulfilled that is written in their Law, 'They hated Me without a cause."

In spite of the seven reasons why the world hates us today in the intensified stage of the angelic conflict, God's plan will continue on the earth. The plan now comes from two sources, in Jn 15:26, the ministry of the Holy Spirit and in verse 27, the ministry of every believer. Every believer is in full time Christian service. Jn 15:26-27 "When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, {that is} the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness of Me, and you {will} bear witness also, because you have been with Me from the beginning."

This is addressing God the Holy Spirit, as the first witness, who would begin the Church-age on the day of Pentecost in 30 A.D. One of His primary functions is the communication of doctrine, so that an edification structure, built from residual doctrine, will enable us to stand-up against the pressure and antagonism of the cosmos. The second witness is the believer himself (Jn 15:27) in his ambassadorship, which we have recently studied. Every believer is a witness for Christ. Verse 27 is a reference to the disciples. They have been with Him from the beginning of His earthly ministry, and when the Church-age begins, they will bear witness, and this witnessing principle will be perpetuated to all generations, right down to us today. These two witnesses counteract and counterattack the devil's world.

John chapter 16 is a continuation of the Gethsemane discourse and an extension of the angelic conflict from the standpoint of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in verses Jn 16:1-15, and the ministry of God the Son in verses Jn 16:16-33. In this chapter, TLJC [The Lord Jesus Christ] is anticipating the coming of the Church-age, the dispensation in which He is glorified at the right hand of God the Father. This dispensation is where the intensification of the angelic conflict begins. Therefore, we have begun a study of the doctrine of the Angelic Conflict.

Point 1 is a definition:

The angelic conflict is the result of pre-historic creatures being in opposition to God, which began with the fall of Satan, and continued until all angelic creatures had made a decision for or against God. It refers to two trials of Satan and the fallen angels, one in pre-historic times, the other during human history. Mat 25:41, "Then He will also say to those on His left, Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;" This verse is a reference to angels who are under a curse from eternity past. This is why 1Ti 5:21 calls certain angels His chosen or His elect angels. The angelic conflict is the result of the fall of all angelic creatures with more than one third ending up in opposition to God, which began with the fall of Satan and continued until all angelic creatures had made a decision for or against God.

The question which needs to be answered is: "Did more than one-third of the angels fall or did they ALL fall and nearly two-thirds came back to Christ through a salvation provided by Him, which is why they are said to be ELECT?" The information we have on the pre-historic past is very vague. However, this should not lead us into thinking that we cannot draw conclusions by comparing scripture with scripture. We can see the results of the restoration of planet earth, the creation of mankind, and the continuing angelic conflict, and we can see their causes. We know that before the creation of mankind Satan had fallen (Isa 14:12; Eze 28:15). We also know that there was a category of angelic creation that was fallen and a category that was called elect and holy angels.

Rev 12:3-4, And another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon [Satan] having seven heads and ten horns [or control of seven heads and ten horns, which is the revived Roman empire of the Tribulation plus ecumenical religion], and on his heads were seven diadems or crowns. And his tail [Satan's power] swept away a third of the stars of heaven, and He [God] threw them to the earth [this will happen in the middle of the Tribulation]. And the dragon [Satan] stood or who had stood before the woman [the virgin Mary] who was about to give birth [This was what Satan tried so hard to stop, anticipating the virgin birth of Christ], so that when she gave birth he [Satan] might devour or destroy her child [destroy the humanity of Christ]. In Mr 8:38, and Luk 9:26, we read, “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when He comes in His glory, and {the glory} of the Father and of the holy angels."

In Rev 14:10, notice what it says for those who receive a mark upon their forehead, "he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb." We may conclude that the only reason why the angels are called holy angels is because God made them holy by providing for them some non-meritorious way to receive His righteousness. This view is further strengthened by the Word of God which states that Jesus Christ ALONE is the holy One. Rev 15:4 Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? For Thou alone art holy; For all the nations will come and worship before Thee, For Thy righteous acts have been revealed.

Rev 16:5, And I heard the angel of the waters saying, "Righteous art Thou, who art and who was, O Holy One, because Thou didst judge these things;

Since Jesus Christ is called the only Holy One, meaning that He alone is the only One who remains experientially holy, how can it be that the elect angels are called holy? This is a seeming contradiction unless the angels were made holy after they were found to be unholy. In Rev 7:10-12, resurrected believers praise the Lord for salvation, and the angels join in by twice saying Amen. Amen means that they concur, agree, and express that they believe it. That is, they personally believe and understand salvation. Rev 7:10-12, and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, "Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen."

In the Tribulation, while angels bring divine judgment upon the earth, no angel is allowed to execute this judgment apart from Jesus Christ because He alone is worthy, Rev 5:2-5, And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the book and to break its seals?" And no one in heaven, or on the earth, or under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look into it. And I began to weep greatly, because no one was found worthy to open the book, or to look into it; and one of the elders said to me, "Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals."

In Job we find the statement that God charges error against His angels and this is used to argue that no man can be just before God. The argument would lack logic if only some angels were charged with error. Job 4:17-18, Can mankind be just before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker? He puts no trust even in His servants; And against His angels He charges error.

It is very interesting, and important to note, that at the fall Satan had offered man a counterfeit salvation (operation fig leaf) prior to God offering man the true salvation. True salvation looked ahead to Christ, Gn 3:21, And the LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. Satan's counterfeit was fig leaves, Gn 3:7, Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. A counterfeit pre-supposes understanding of the real. Therefore, Satan would have had to have some prior knowledge of salvation in order to offer a counterfeit plan for covering sinfulness and disobedience.

The key word in all of these passages is the word HOLY, hosios in the Greek, which is used to express the uniqueness of the Lord Jesus Christ. The word is used eight times in the Scriptures for TLJC, and only looks at the absolute uniqueness of Him. Hosios is used of His person in Act 2:27 and ACT 13:35, as the grantor of blessings for the believer in Act 13:34, and as His qualification to be High Priest in Heb 7:26. Hosios is also a pre-requisite for prayer in 1Ti 2:8. Hosios is that which should become a believer's testimony in 1Th 2:10. Hosios is the believer's goal in Luk 1:75, and a characteristic of the new self or new man in Eph 4:24. Therefore, only the Lord Jesus Christ remains experientially holy, and the four verses where this word is used as an adjective for angelic beings shows us that all angels were once unholy and those who accepted God's plan for salvation became holy.

There is a syllogism to this: A. Christ is the ONLY Holy One. B. Since men, angels, and things (animal sacrifices etc.) are called holy and His unique holiness is a perpetual holiness, the holiness of others is passed down as a gift and not inherent. C. Angels are called holy and therefore must have been made holy from a status of not being holy, much like the Christian.

Another principle to consider is that no one is perfect but Jesus Christ. Psa 89:5-8, And the heavens will praise Thy wonders, O Lord; Thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies is comparable to the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty is like the Lord, A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, And awesome above all those who are around Him? O Lord God of hosts, who is like Thee, O mighty Lord? Thy faithfulness also surrounds Thee.

In Col 1:19-20 Jesus Christ is said to reconcile all things to Himself, For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. Reconciliation is the making of peace between those who are enemies. In these verses the Lord is said to accomplish this for things on earth and in heaven.

The condemnation against Satan in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 is very specifically against him and him alone. However, after his sin and fall, God allowed him to tempt all the other angels to follow him. God did not interfere with this evil scheme because in His omniscience He knew they would buy the lie and He had something far better for them, salvation. Suppose that all the angels fell and at that moment, God stepped in with judgment. Upon being judged, found guilty and condemned, Satan objected and accused God of not being a just God, of violating His essence, His love, His fairness, His omniscience, etc. As Satan stood condemned, all the angels stood condemned, but condemnation only sets up the divine provision of reconciliation. God offered to the angels a way for their sin to be forgiven in which His divine attributes would in no way be compromised. We only have one vague reference to angelic salvation in the Scripture, Heb 2:2-4, For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, God also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will. This verse tell us that there is some kind of parallel being drawn between angelic salvation and human salvation.

We can see in the initial fall of man, the subsequent attempt at deception by Satan, and the subsequent salvation offered by God a possible parallel to angelic salvation. Satan fell due to his own initiative and then deceived other angels. In the same way Satan as the serpent deceived the woman (Gen 3:5). Adam, however, fell without deception; he chose to disobey God just as Satan did. At the fall then we have one who disobeyed out of his own initiative and one who was deceived. This pattern reflects what may have happened in the angelic realm. Satan disobeyed by his own initiative and the other angels were deceived.

There are also additional evidences that these things are true:

1) The Ark of the Covenant illustrates that angels benefit from the work of Christ.

2) The Veil of Exodus 26:31-35 in the Temple was a reminder of the humanity of Christ. Part of it was made of fine white linen which looks at experiential +R. This veil was to be made with cherubim on it. The curtain speaks of Christ and His work and the angels were on the curtain themselves, Exo 26:31, And you shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen; it shall be made with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman.

3) The linen curtains of Exodus 26:1-6 were also of the same color scheme as the veil and looked ahead to the person and work of Christ in salvation. These also had angels embroidered on them. The angels partake of Christ's place of origin, heaven, and of his royalty, in the presence of God. They partake of His work in salvation, which is represented by the scarlet color.

4) Angels also are often pictured as wearing white garments. In Mr 16:5, the two angels at the tomb are said to be in white garments, And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe; and they were amazed. In Revelation 19:8 the church, the bride of Christ, is also clothed in white linen garments. This white garment represents the righteousness of God that He imputed to us and therefore represents the same for the angels who accepted angelic salvation.

SUMMARY:

1) Satan counterfeited salvation to Adam and the Woman prior to God's offer of salvation to them which would indicate a prior knowledge of salvation.

2) Any position regarding what happened in the fall of angels, their salvation, etc, is an argument from silence and with that, the only value of one argument over another is its consistency with the character of God and the parallel to other known events.

3) God is a God of mercy and the greatest expression of mercy is to offer peace or reconciliation to one's enemies.

4) God is absolutely just and fair and could not have offered salvation to man and not offered it to another creation, angels, who had also fallen.

5) Only Christ is forever holy and pure and blameless. For another creature to have these characteristics inherent in them and maintained in them by freewill would have meant that they could have died for the sins of creation. Therefore, no angel was qualified to go to the Cross.

6) Angels are very much a part of the tabernacle, the ark, the veil, the curtains which all look ahead to Christ and His salvation work.

7) Hebrews 2:9-10 indicate that Christ would taste death for all creation, But we do see Him who has been made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone [pas-all] For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.

8) The garments of angels are the same garments given to saved mankind in eternity.

9) In 1Ti 5:21 angels are called chosen or elect which would indicate that there was a time when they were not chosen and not elect.

10) Col 1:20 indicates that Christ reconciled all things to Himself, things on earth and things in heaven, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Therefore, the angelic conflict refers to the two trials of Satan and the fallen angels, one in pre-historic times, the other during human history. In our subject, the trial phase begins with the fall of man in the garden and continues until the beginning of the dispensation of the Hypostatic Union. Mankind was created and human history began in order to duplicate the conditions of the pre-historic angelic conflict. This provided both evidence and precedence for Satan's appeal trial during human history. The fall of man in the garden of Eden actually duplicates the fall of Satan in the garden of God. Both falls occurred during perfect environment.

The trial phase in the court of appeals is essentially Old Testament history. It began in Gen 3. God created man as a rational creature lower than angels, duplicating on a reduced scale, the conditions of the pre-historic angelic conflict. Man was given the opportunity to choose for or against God with one command from God, only one thing was forbidden. God entered His evidence by creating man just as the angels were created: innocent (or perfect) with the potential to love and worship God through right decisions and the potential to become imperfect by wrong decisions. Human history provides similar circumstances and options which belonged to angelic history before man's creation. For example, Satan had been created in perfect innocence; Adam was created in perfect innocence. The angels have free will; man has free will. Adam freely and deliberately chose to follow the pattern of arrogance which characterized Satan's original revolution, Isa 14:12-14. So the fall of Adam duplicates the fall of Satan.

In angelic history, God had provided a decision making process by which angels could express non-meritorious positive volition. Likewise, God provided salvation for all mankind so that man can express non-meritorious positive volition through faith in Christ (Jn 3:16). Here is another similarity: through the exercise of their free will, angelic creatures are divided into two categories: elect and fallen angels (Rev 12:7, 1Ti 5:21, Mat 25:41, Mr 8:38). Through the exercise of their free will mankind is divided into two categories, believers and unbelievers (Jn 3:36). Human history is not only coterminous with the appeal trial of Satan and his fallen angels, but human history is the actual courtroom for that trial, and mankind was created to be a part of that trial.

Hymn #1

Hymn #2

REBOUND

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins to God; the issue for you is to believe by faith alone in Jesus, The Christ alone for eternal life [salvation] and you will be saved [receive Eternal Life] the very micro second you believe in Him:

John 6:47 says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” NKJV

Notice again what John 6:47 says, “he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” It doesn’t say, “will have”; it says, “has.” Therefore, the very moment you believe Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life, you have it (it’s really just that simple), and it can never be lost or taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-18 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness [Num 21:4-9], even so must the Son of Man be lifted up [the cross], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for learning God’s Word, if there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

Internet Church Service – May 29, 2022; Theophany is a term for the appearance of Jesus Christ before the First Advent.

We are now looking at the Chronology of our Lord as He fulfilled the plan of God for His life.

1. We began with a study of the period of time before the creation of the world and before the creation of Angels; Pr 8.

2. The place of the angels and the division between the Elect and the Fallen angels after they fell as well as the members of the human race who are divided into believers and unbelievers.

3. Many of the Jews followed our Lord as He presented the doctrinal views that our Lord took over in the Old Testament especially under the Mosaic Law.

4. We are now ready for a study on what we call a Theophany usually identified as "The Angel of the Lord" or "The Angel of God."

There was never a time in history when some part of the world did not "see" the Lord Jesus Christ = the doctrine of Theophanies.

A Theophany is a manifestation of the person and work of Jesus Christ in His pre-incarnate state or before He became a member of the human race.

Theophany = a theological term for the appearances of Jesus Christ before the First Advent.

Our Lord Jesus Christ appeared

as the angel of the Lord, which is the primary Theophany in the Old Testament.

Look at how our Lord appeared to Moses in the burning bush; Exo 3:1-6; Ac 7:30-35.

Exo 3:2 And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed.

In this section of the Scriptures we will see that "the angel of the Lord refers to the Lord Jesus Christ.

In Exo 3:2, our Lord appeared to Moses in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush which describes His deity and His omnipotence or the fact that He is the God of all power or Almighty God.

In Exo 3:3, Moses saw the marvelous sight of why the bush is not burned up which refers to His omnipotence or God's power.

Exo 3:4 When the Lord saw that Moses turned aside to look at the burning bush and we are told that it was God who called to him from the midst of the bush.

Notice Exo 3:6 where the angel of the Lord, our Lord Jesus Christ said "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob."

Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God referring to the fact that our Lord, as the Theophany, is God.

This is our Lord guiding and directing Moses by revealing that Moses has been talking to the Lord or the Angel of the Lord who is Jesus Christ as a Theophany.

Angel of God = the Lord was also revealed in the pillar of the cloud by day time and the pillar of fire by night to lead Israel through the desert; Exo 13:21, 14:19, 23:20-23, 32:34.

This time the Theophany is found in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.

Under this principle, the Lord Jesus Christ also appeared to Abraham as a man in Gen 18:1 33.

The Lord appeared to Abraham in his tent as a man and he announced that Sarah, who was past the menopause, was going to be pregnant.

We also have our Lord appearing as a man and, as such, He was also the wrestler with Jacob in Gen 32:24-32, also mentioned in Hosea 12:4.

Now, look at who Jacob was wrestling in Gen 32:30 So Jacob named the place Peniel, for he said, "I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been preserved."

When God wrestled with Jacob, He also permanently injured him so that Jacob became one of the greatest wrestlers in the ancient world because until the Lord he took on the Lord.

Jesus Christ appeared in the clouds of the air where Jesus Christ is called under the "the cloud of the Lord, the glory of the Lord" as in Exo 40:38.

Exo 40:36-37; And throughout all their journeys whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would set out;

Exo 40:37 but if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out until the day when it was taken up.

This passage reveals a few of the doctrinal Privileges and the Promises that our Lord made to Moses, Aaron, and to the Jews.

Our Lord Jesus Christ appeared throughout the Old Testament in a visible form as the angel of Jehovah or the angel of the Lord.

Prin: You must remember that the Lord is the only visible member of the godhead called in Theology, a Theophanies.

Inanimate Theophanies = the cloud over the tent, which was the visible sign that Jesus Christ was dwelling inside of the Holy of Holies as the Shekinah glory.

There were many different manifestations of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament.

Once in human history during the Dispensation of Israel when our Lord actually dwelt inside of sacred buildings.

There were three of them, and he actually indwelt these sacred buildings.

Our Lord was speaking at this time as the God-man, and as such, He is making a statement about His resurrection, ascension, and session.

Notice the last part of the verse = "because I live, you shall live also."

He says to the disciples "you will see me" and "because I live you also will live."

He is talking to the disciples who would go into the Church-age as the initial believers of the Church-age.

The Church-age believers would live in the same power system with the same divine assets as the humanity of Christ.

What our Lord says in verse 20 is the prophecy of how they would see Him again.

It is also a hint as to the Purpose of the Indwelling of Christ.

Jn 14:20 "In that day referring to the Church-age, the dispensation of the Royal Family of God;

"shall know" is the future-middle-Indicative of the verb ginosko which means that you will come to know.

In 1Jo 3:24, we have a very dramatic passage about the indwelling of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit as well as the indwelling of the entire Trinity.

We have the indwelling of God the Father; Eph 4:6.

Eph 4:6 = there is one God and Father who we are told is "of all," "over all," "through all" or "in all."

Most believers fall because of not being able to control the sins of the tongue = the source of quarrels and conflicts among believers as well as the source of your pleasures or lusts that that wage war in the members of your body.

Then the apostle James warns us not to be envious or jealous and you cannot obtain so you fight and quarrel with other believers.

It is the last part of verse 2 that says, "You do not have because you do not ask."

Jm 4:6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore, it says, "God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

This is a greater-grace believer who is "of all."

A greater-grace believer who is all "overall."

There is a greater-grace believer who is "through all."

There is also a greater-grace believer who is "in all."

1Jo 3:24 The one who habitually keeps His commandments [obeying His word and precepts], abides and remains in Him [in the Lord Jesus Christ],

and He [the Lord] - also abides in him. By this we know and have the proof that He [really] abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us [as a gift].

We also were given the indwelling of the Son; Col 1:27; Gal 2:20; Jn 14:19-21.

Weekly Bible Study; May 23, 2022The sword of the Spirit, the Word of God manifested in the final saying of our Lord upon the cross. Part 3

Week Ending 6-29-2014

We are now ready to complete the Seventh and final Saying of our Lord Jesus Christ upon the Cross.

The first saying was found in Lk 23:34, But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” Again, this reveals our Lord’s care for others and not Himself, in spite of what he had gone through and what He was going through.

The second saying was found in Lk 23:43, And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.” Again, this brought out the principle of Others.

The third saying is in Jn 19:26-27, When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”

Jn 19:27, Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her into his own {household}. Caring for the apostle John and His mother revealed His message was Others.

The fourth saying was found in Mt 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” He said this for us and therefore He wanted us to understand the principle of others.

The fifth saying, Jn 19:28, After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I am thirsty.”

The sixth saying of the cross can be described by the word Tetelestai, translated it is finished.

Jn 19:30, When Jesus therefore had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!”

However, it’s important to note that when the Lord Jesus Christ uttered the words “It is finished” , He revealed the fact that not only salvation was totally complete but also the work of God and the will of God AFTER salvation was totally completed. This is something that I have found that very few others have taught. So this leads us to the seventh and final saying on the Cross which is found in Lk 23:46, And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into Thy hands I commit My spirit.” And having said this, He breathed His last.

When the Lord Jesus Christ died on the Cross, it was voluntary meaning that He did it for us Himself.

In fact, the entire Trinity did it for us as taught in passages like Ac 2:22-23, “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know this {Man}, delivered up by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put {Him} to death.

Notice is was by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, that He was delivered up. This goes all the way back to Gn 1:26, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness… We were created in the image and in the likeness of God.

And, whether you believe it or not, this is why you have been created. The point is that when the Lord Jesus Christ died on the Cross, it was voluntary.

Jn 10:17-18, “For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”

Jn 16:7-14, “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you no longer behold Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear {them} now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose {it} to you.”

Upon His physical death, our Lord’s human spirit went into the presence of God the Father. His soul went into Hades to a compartment known as Paradise. His body went into the grave to wait for that glorious moment some three days later when the body would be rejoined by the soul and the Spirit. This is what is known as the trichotomous separation.

Therefore, the seventh cry or saying from the Cross was the beginning of the end; and yet in reality the end was a new beginning.

For Jesus Christ would arise from the grave in a resurrection body, walk among men for a short time, then ascend into the presence of the Father to sit at His right hand as our great High Priest and make intercession for us forever (Heb 1:3; 7:25).

I do know this because in 1Co 15:3-10, the apostle Paul said, For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as it were to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. For I am the least of the apostles, who am not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

Now, I say all of this to bring up an amazing subject, which is what we call the Victorious Proclamation. Undoubtedly, the most startling event ever to be observed in the angelic realm was the creation of man. Here was an inferior form of creation who, unlike angels, could not travel through space, who was limited in power and vision and who was confined to one small planet, yet this creature was made in the image and likeness of God (Gn 1:27).

Gn 1:27-28, And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

By the way, in spite of the fact that angels seem to be a superior creation, we never read that they were made in the image of God, as we are. Therefore, sometimes I wonder who the real superior creation is, angels or humans? Also, why is it that the Lord Jesus Christ became a member of the human race and not the angelic race?

Heb 1:3 really puts it like this from the original language: And He [Jesus Christ] is the radiance [flashing forth--which is a reference to the humanity of Christ being the flashing forth] of His [God the Father’s] glory, and the exact representation of His nature [deity of Christ]; and He upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high

That’s when Jesus Christ received His third royal title, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, and that’s when the angelic conflict shifted gears into its intensified stage.

Heb 1:4 Having become [meaning Jesus Christ in His humanity] as much better than the angels, as He has inherited an excellent or superior title to theirs [third royal title].” Our Lord became the victor of the angelic conflict as an inferior creature to angels, a member of the human race.

Heb 1:5, “For to which of the angels did He [God the Father] ever say, “You are My Son [deity of Christ], this day I have given birth to You [the humanity of Christ in hypostatic union]?’ And again [2Sa 7:14], I will be His Father and He will be My Son.”

Which angel did God ever say that to? The answer of course is none. In fact, angels do not call God their Father.

In Heb 1:6, And when He again brings His First born into the world [Second Advent] He says, [from Psa 97:7], let all the angels of God worship Him.” Here we see the so-called higher creation, known as the angels, being told to worship a member of the lower creation, the humanity of Christ. The point is that the work God called Christ to finish is better than the angels and therefore the angels are to worship Him.

We are all in union with Christ. In fact, in Eph 2:6, we are told that we have been raised up with Him, and seated with Him in the heavenly places, We are also told in 2Co 5:17 if we are in Christ, we are new creatures, the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. And as members of the human race, it is said about us that in Rm 6:4, We have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

There are a lot of privileges given to us that are not given to the angels because we are in union with Him. For example, Because we are in union with Christ, we share His: Eternal life, 1Jo 5:11 12. Perfect righteousness, 2Co 5:21. Election, Eph 1:4. Destiny, Eph 1:5. Sonship, 2Ti 2:1. Heirship, Rm 8:16 17. Sanctification, 1Co 1:2. Priesthood, Heb 10:10 14. Royalty (Kingship), 2Pe 1:11. Angels do not share that and that is part of the victorious proclamations are Lord announced to the angels after He died and said Father into Your hands I commit My spirit.

Hymn #2

Internet Church Service – May 22, 2022; Are you ready to increase your spiritual relationship with our Lord?

Even though our Lord knew the plan of God for His life, He did not let that rulership to dictate to Him how he should live His life for others.

Notice what our Lord was thinking at the end of verse 2 where we read that His job or profession did not stop Him from doing so.

(1) This individual was said to be a rich man was called a "chief tax gatherer" whose one responsibility was collecting money from other Jews, as well as being rich himself.

Being someone who was known as a "chief tax-gatherer" our Lord did not let Himself be controlled by anything that He was trying so hard to get away from.

For our Lord was trying very hard to destroy the motivations that He had to have to be motivated by the inner happiness and contentment that God the Father had for all of us.

"Are you ready to increase rather than to decease your spiritual relationship with our Lord"?

Here it is in totality Jn 3:30 "He must increase, but I must decrease.

What about the words that you studied and that you also stopped them from multiplying God's life within you or with anyone!

Are you ready to believe what those words that you said were just for you or "Are you ready to increase your love for our God who lives and abides upon us forever?"

(1) This individual was said to be a rich man was called a "chief tax gatherer" = the responsibility was collecting money from other Jews, as well as being rich himself.

(2) We are ready because He made us ready.

Our Lord was very happy and content then we noted that the blessings that we received were outstanding blessings that we enjoyed habitually, from that very same goal.

We are now ready and prepared to satisfy our Lord in revealing God's plans for changing our plans over to Him.

We all have a unique spiritual life which also has ways of doing such things that our enemy desires to trap us with , Satan, and the Kingdom of God wants to fight with.

Without a relationship with God and seeing things from the divine viewpoint of life, all of these things are meaningless.

Fatalism comes from the Latin fatum meaning "that which the gods ordain to happen."

Although we believe in divine timing and that there is a time ordained by God for us to function in these areas, when Solomon writes this, he is not viewing it from divine viewpoint.

We believe that God gives you a certain amount of time that you might use it for His glory.

Isa 43:7 "Everyone who is called by My name, I have created for My glory, Those whom I have formed, even whom I have made."

God has created you for His glory and until you believe that and then live for that purpose, you will never find true happiness and contentment in life.

The mature believer regards every day as the Lord

's day, Rom 14:5-6.

Every day we live is a gracious gift from God and it should be a day that we have time set aside for our relationship with Him.

The only time we possess to honor God in this life is the number of days He provides for us in the Christian life, Psa 90:12; Jam 4:13 15.

Jam 4:14 "Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away."

Job 23:12 "I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food."

"treasured" is the verb tsaphan which means to esteem; to admire, appreciate, respect, and even worship.

Psa 56:4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I have put my trust;

Psa 56:10 In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, Whose Word I praise,

Every day is a day when we should be learning doctrine and preparing ourselves to glorify God.

Psa 102:23 "In the course of my life, He broke my strength, He cut short my days."

Eph 5:16 17 "Constantly buying time, because the days are evil. Because of this, stop being ignorant, but completely understand the will [purpose] of the Lord."

The Philosopher William James said, "The great use for one's life is to spend it for something that will outlast it!

God's timing is perfect and if you are in fellowship with Him, you will have peace of mind with everything you do.

If you are not in fellowship with God and you do not have doctrine resident in your soul, you will concede with Solomon in Ecc 3:9 What profit is there to the worker from that in which he toils?

Regardless of the circumstances and events that surround your birth, God gave you life at that moment, so that was the right time for you to be born.

You had nothing to say about your birth and that's why your timing was perfect!

You did not choose your parents; God did.

You did not choose your birthday; God did.

Your volition wasn't involved at all.

If you have any complaints about your parents or your birth, your timing is off!

Don't say you were born too late or too early or you would have been better off if you lived during another generation.

God is perfect, His ways are perfect and you and I were born under the perfect timing of God.

If we complain about anything related to our birth or our environment, or our parents, or our home, we are blaspheming God.

Anyone who resents his parents or his early environment, no matter how bad or how good it was, is totally out of sync with life.

Every time you use your environment as an excuse for your bad habits or your bad decisions, you are so far out of line that you are disoriented to life.

All your bad habits and bad timing can only be corrected by believing in Christ and then taken in His word on a consistent basis.

We are all on God's timetable regarding when we are born and when we die.

Only our perception of what's happening can be wrong, and that will be brought out in this passage.

People are often bitter, upset, and disturbed because of the way someone they love dies, putting themselves out of God's timing for the rest of their lives, as if somehow everything in life is unfair to them.

There is a lot of unfairness in the world, but the minute you react, you're out of God's timing.

Look at all the people who complain about their birth, their parents, their home, their environment, and their circumstances right now.

Becoming very pushy and trying desperately to make things happen is a sign of being on your own timing.

Your wrong timing as a believer will destroy you and make you miserable in life.

Timing is simply defined as the selection of the best time for doing something in order to achieve the desired effect with maximum results.

For the Church-age believer, timing is a matter of adjusting to and synchronizing with the PPOG [predesigned plan of God].

Every time we make a decision that is contrary to some principle found in the word of God, contrary to the mechanics of the PPOG, then we are out of sync with God's plan.

"Bad Timing = a matter of being out of fellowship, falling apart; under pressure; being out of the will of God, having the wrong priorities, making the wrong decisions.

Above all, bad timing is lost opportunity under the equal privilege and equal opportunity of God's plan.

The Hebrew for plant is nata which means to plant, to work, to invest.

Solomon is saying that God has allotted or assigned to you a profession, a business, or a job and also the time to put into that job.

Planting and plowing describe an agricultural economy at the time that Solomon wrote this.

In our day, "there is a right time to invest and there is a right time to reap from that investment."

There is always a right time in business, in the stock market, to buy property, to get into your own business, etc.

This verse says that whatever you do in life by way of making a living, there's a right time and a wrong time.

You were born at the right time and you will die at the right time because those are God's decisions.

Once you're alive, you must make decisions in life.

Knowing when to plant and when to plow is a matter of understanding the soil, the weather and what crops you're trying to produce.

Timing in life is a matter of knowing what you want to do in life, what business you want to be involved in, what you want to do to make money to sustain yourself.

If you don't look at life from the divine viewpoint and you just look at it like life "under the sun".....time is meaningless even when you're doing what you're supposed to be doing.

Uproot is the Hebrew verb aqar which means to root up; to destroy, to exterminate.

Before you can replant after your crop grows you must destroy the old to make room for the new.

This is also means that there could be a time in your life for you to uproot or destroy or to exterminate that which you have been planting.

The key again is being in fellowship with God and He is not the author confusion.

If changes need to be made, God has His ways of revealing that to you.

Don't try to hold on to something that God has taken away.

The Hebrew verb for kill is harag which means to kill the enemy in battle or to execute the criminal.

If you are in the military or law enforcement, there are times when you must practice violence.

In the laws of divine establishment, capital punishment is the way that crime is controlled.

As a result of following this principle, the Jews didn't even need jails.

A "time to kill" refers not only to capital punishment for criminals, but also to the fact that when you serve your country in the military, you should kill the enemy, for that is your job.

You are not a murderer, it is honorable to kill in war, not dishonorable.

The Bible does not say "You shall not kill", it says "You shall not murder."

There is a time to kill and a time to heal.

If you kill when it's time to heal then you're a murderer.

The verb to heal is rapha which means to heal; to bind up wounds, to heal medically, physically, to restore life; to save life; to mend or repair; reconcile.

A time to tear down is the Hebrew paratz which means to demolish, or to break away.

The Hebrew banah is used for construction of something wonderful, something great, it can also mean to repair something.

A time to tear down means to demolish certain things in our life or to break away from those things.

There's even a time when we need to break away from certain people.

The Hebrew word banah is used for construction of something wonderful, something great, it can also mean to repair something.

It could refer to a friendship, a relationship, a family matter etc.

You never confuse the time to weep and the time to laugh, because once you are in sync with God's plan, you'll know when it's time for both.

God has allotted a certain amount of time in your life for laughing and dancing and weeping and mourning.

Many pastors spend all of their time trying to set people "straight" rather than just teaching the word of God and letting God do it!

There's a time to laugh even when you're behind the pulpit!

If your timing is right, you will enjoy the laughter and the dance and you will also have peace and tranquility while you are weeping and while you are mourning.

Laughter and weeping are used here as opposites yet they are a direct relationship between the mentality of the soul and the emotions.

The verb to weep is bakah and it means legitimate weeping not operation cry baby or the tears of bitterness but an expression of emotion!

Our Lord wept at the tomb of Lazarus, Jn 11:35.

This was weeping of bereavement, indicating our Lord's great capacity for love.

Our Lord wept out of patriotism in Luk 19:41, because of the coming destruction of Jerusalem.

Our Lord also wept at the cross, Heb 5:7; Psa 22.

This expressed the manliness and maturity of Christ.

He could cry and scream under the horribleness of spiritual death and still orient to the grace of God and pray.

Laugh is the Hebrew verb sachaq which refers to legitimate humor because of relaxation not laughing at foolishness or to hurt someone or to make fun of them and mock them.

I hope my children will not remember me so much as a serious person but as a person that it was fun to be with!

God has appointed us times of tension and times of relaxation and if we have doctrine in our souls, we can enjoy both!

God has given us a certain amount of legitimate pressure and relaxation.

A time to mourn is the kal infinitive construct of caphad which means to weep or to beat the breast and it's used for mourning for loved ones at a funeral.

There's a certain amount of time that God has set aside to mourn for those who have died but, only a certain amount of time and then you must pick up the pieces and move on.

You remember them in your soul but you are not to beat your breasts for them over and over again such as weeping over the grave and putting yourself in agony of mind.

If you desire to go to the grave of a loved one, there's nothing wrong with that nor is there anything wrong with memories that may bring tears to your eyes.

A time to dance is the kal infinitive construct of raqad which means to dance as an expression of pleasure and happiness not as the sexual expressions of today.

C.S. Lewis probably said it best, he said "Pain is God's megaphone. He whispers to us in our pleasures but He shouts to us in our pain."

I've seen families throughout my ministry draw strength from one another while in mourning over the death of a loved one.

I have seen that same family laugh and enjoy each others' company right at the funeral.

"gather" = s the Hebrew verb kanac which means to collect materials for building; to collect stones for construction, or to clear a field for plowing, or to prepare the military with weaponry.

Jer 1:10 "See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms, To pluck up and to break down, To destroy and to overthrow, To build and to plant."

When God gives you rest and peace from problems and difficulties, whether it's to your nation collectively or you individually, it's time to build and prosper.

2Ch 14:7 "For he said to Judah, "Let us build these cities and surround them with walls and towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours,

Just like we have a certain amount of time in our lives when we are called to war or peace.

If it's not literal war, it is the spiritual warfare of Eph 6:12.

There is time when destruction is the only alternative, however, a constructive soul with inner grace and inner power can handle the destruction!

Knowing when to be constructive and knowing when to be destructive takes greater wisdom than any of us really have.
