Being a soldier for the Word of God. Part 2.

cross-1-1

Scripture References, Word & Phrase descriptions: the “Logos Reftagger” scripture links are hover pop-up active, meaning the scripture reference will just pop-up if you hover your cursor over it (don’t click on the link, just hover your cursor over it), when finished reading, hover your cursor off the scripture reference link. If the Reftagger pop-up doesn’t show all the verses, left click on the “More” button in the Reftagger pop-up window and it will take you to the online bible. If RefTagger pop-ups don’t work on your computer, that’s OK, try left clicking the link if it’s highlighted which should open a window with all the verses at the Biblia.com website; or if that doesn’t work, you can always use your Bible to look up the verses. Word or Phrase definition links may not have a website that opens. If you are running PCMatic, the pop-ups may not work; if that’s the case, email PC Matic Support to see if they can fix that problem for you.

Prepare yourself for learning the Word of God!

Before we begin, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is; you have believed [trusted] in Him for His promised gift of eternal life), it is important to prepare yourself to learn God's Word so take a moment to name, cite or acknowledge (confess) your sins privately to God (i.e.; with your thoughts directed only to God the Father).

1 John 1:9 says: "If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins (known sins) and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [unknown or forgotten sins]." NKJV (New King James Version) [italics added]; we call this REBOUND, read the full doctrine as to “why” we need to use 1 John 1:9 to grow spiritually. REBOUND

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins; the issue for you is to have faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life: John 3:16, 5:24, 6:47, 20:30, 31.

John 6:47 says: "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me (Jesus Christ) has everlasting life." NKJV [italics added]

Notice again what Jesus said in John 6:47: "…he who believes in Me (Jesus Christ) has everlasting life." It doesn't say, "will have"; it says, "has." Therefore, the very moment you believe in Jesus Christ for His promise of everlasting life, you have it (it's really just that simple; nothing more and nothing less), and it can never be taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift (Ephesians 2:8c) of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-15, 16, 17, 18, says: "14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for worship and learning God's Word. If there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

Study to show yourself approved to God!

STUDY TITLE:

Being a soldier for the Word of God. Part 2.

Seven Doctrinal Conclusions:

The importance of things can be measured by how much time we are willing to invest in them.

Ecc 3:1 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven–

The more time you give to something, the more you reveal its importance and value to you.
Ecc 3:11 he has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set the desire for eternal things in their heart,

If you want to know a person’s priorities, just look at how they use their time.
Eph 5:14-15, For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.” Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise,

When it comes to time, you can make more money, but you can’t make more time.
Eph 5:16, Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.

You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.

So that in Eph 5:2, we have the phrase, and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

Sadly, many Christians use the church but don’t love it. This is revealed by their desire to eat at one place while supporting with their time, talent, and treasure, another place. They perceive and metabolize Bible doctrine and support one form of teaching but through familiarity with the communicator they violate 2Co 5:16, Therefore from now on we recognize no man according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.

They eat at one place under the principle of reciprocation but then support another. Here is where gracious responsibility comes into the picture.

Rom 15:26-27, For Macedonia and Achaia [a-kai-a] have been pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem. Yes, they were pleased to do so, and they are indebted to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual things, they are indebted to minister to them also in material things.

So in effect this is what we have. The communicator shares his spiritual prosperity, his wealth of doctrine with his students. When they became wealthy in a material way, they wanted to share their wealth with him….which is; mutual blessing by association in which the pastor contributes the wealth of doctrine and the congregation contributes in a monetary way.

So, it’s an exchange of blessing by association and it’s one of the highest forms of giving because there’s no solicitation involved, no pressure involved. It is merely those who have been blessed in a material way recognizing the source of their spiritual and material prosperity.

Jer 15:16, Thy words were found and I ate them, And Thy words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Thy name, O Lord God of hosts.

Job 23:12, “I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.

Eph 5:17-18, So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

And then here is something that is a result of fellowship with the Holy Spirit, Eph 5:19, If you are filled with the Spirit one of the results of the filling of the Spirit is speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;

The filling of the Spirit is based upon your fellowship with the Spirit. 2Co 13:14, The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the “fellowship” of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.

Notice that it says, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, 1Co 1:9, God is faithful, through whom you were called into “fellowship” with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Then another principle; you have also been called into fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

1Jo 1:3b, And indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

Then a third principle; we are to have fellowship with the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

With all of this in mind, Let’s continue with our study of the Christian Soldier.

The difference between fear and courage is the ability to think and concentrate under pressure. By concentration, I do not mean on the problem but on the doctrine that you have previously learned. If you have trouble concentrating under normal situations, you will have trouble concentrating under pressure situations. If you don’t think doctrine under normal circumstances, you will be filled with fear during abnormal circumstances.

But, those of you who take the course under normal circum¬stances have a chance to learn how to handle disaster. This does not necessarily mean that you will automatically pass. There are many who will sit through the course but will not metabolize the lesson or if they do, they will fail to apply it at the appropriate time.

In combat, a man has to be trained for the job and that takes time. He has to know how to do his job under normal conditions before he is given the job under abnormal conditions. And, it’s the training that makes him victorious not his lack of fear or courage.

Soldiers are also clothe by the military they represent so the Christian soldier is said to be clothed by the Lord Jesus Christ.

2Co 9:8 defines logistical grace for us, And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything [logistical grace support and blessing], you may have an abundance for every good of intrinsic value production.

In that very popular passage, in Matt 6:25-33 our Lord said, “For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, {as to} what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, {as to} what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and {yet} your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a {single} cubit to his life’s span? And why are you anxious about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is {alive} today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, {will He} not much more {do so for} you, O men of little faith? Do not be anxious then, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘With what shall we clothe ourselves?’ For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.”

Now, that takes care of being clothed in the natural realm! In the spiritual realm Gal 3:27 applies, For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Luk 12:27-28, “Consider the lilies, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if God so arrays the grass in the field, which is {alive} today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more {will He clothe} you, O men of little faith!”

So, every believer has been enlisted in the spiritual army of God and is a spiritual soldier of Jesus Christ.

A soldier is also told who to go to war with and he understands who his enemies are so the Christian soldier has his warfare appointed to him and his enemies are made known to him by the Scriptures. Basically, our enemies are said to be of the world, the flesh and the devil.

1Jo 2:15-17, Do not love the world [the cosmic system], nor the things in the world [cosmic system]. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh [the OSN] and the lust of the eyes [arrogance system] and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. And the world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever.

We are told that the devil makes war against the Lamb and His followers, in Rev 17:14, “These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.”

The world is the enemy of the Christian soldier insofar as the things of the world, the pleasures or the profits of the world take the believer away from the plan of God. This is why John wrote in 1Jo 2:14-17, I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one. Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. And the world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever.

A soldier is also supplied logistically as he goes forward in training, discipline and warfare, so the Christian soldier is provided logistical grace for his spiritual walk and warfare.

Gal 5:16, But I say, walk or live by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

However, the corrected translation of Gal 5:25, If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk [march] by the Spirit.

Stoicheo goes back to classical Greek where it was a military term which was used of troops lining up in a row or in ranks. Later it was applied to anything that was in a direct line, a group that marched in rank and file, and by New Testament times it came to mean to follow a certain course of action, to follow a preset pattern, to stay in line, and it is used to refer to walking in a closely regulated life, living according to set of definite rules.

The military bears the expense of the war and furnishes the soldier with whatever is necessary for his calling. Our Lord has given us clothes, armor, weapons, and whatever we need to handle what we are going to face. This is why the apostle Paul said in 1Co 10:13, No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.

Everything we need both in the natural realm and in the spiritual realm has been provided for us by God. In 1Ti 4:7-8, the apostle Paul uses physical exercise as an analogy to self-discipline!

1Ti 4:7, But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women.

Again we see the importance of self-discipline. The organization of your time, the setting up of your priorities is very important. Godliness is simply a lifestyle for the “spiritual” believer. Why does it say to discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness? Because it requires self-discipline and organization to execute the PPOG even if you have Bible doctrine as your number 1 priority.
And if that is true, and it appears to be for most of you, doctrine seems to be high on your priority list.

If it is high on your scale of values it requires a lot of self-discipline. There are many times when you do not want to come to Bible class. Many legitimate and even illegitimate reasons are given. However, it takes a lot of self-discipline to get here. Then once you get here it takes more self-discipline to listen, especially if it’s not your favorite subject.

1Ti 4:8, for bodily discipline is only of little profit (for a short time),

There is profit in physical exercise but it’s only for a short time. The reason why we have exercise used as an analogy to godliness is because exercise requires self-discipline. Exercise takes self-discipline. You have to have a priority slot for exercise. You have to exercise (if you take it seriously) whether you feel like it or not. This is why there are all kinds of gadgets and pills on the market that really are trying to monopolize on inconsistency.

So 1Ti 4:8, for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things,

Godliness or living the spiritual life is the result of consistency in the perception of doctrine. Your consistency is very important because the doctrine you learn today is going to carry you for a short time. That’s another reason why doctrines have to be repeated and are repeated in certain books of the Bible.

There must be the repetition of doctrine. Even the Bible repeats doctrine. Repetition therefore, becomes vitally necessary in the Christian life.

1Ti 4:8, for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. In other words, the most important thing in your life is your consistency in the spiritual realm.

Godliness holds the key to this life. Your happiness depends on godliness or spiritual living. Your capacity for life depends on godliness or spiritual living. Your success in life depends on godliness or spiritual living. Your promotion in life depends on godliness or spiritual living.

So, godliness is said to hold promise for the present life and also for the life to come. The life to come is a reference for all eternity. For all eternity because some of you were consistent and faithful in the little things you are going to have the uniform of glory, the order of the morning star, the various different crowns, your name recorded in the historical section of Heaven. You are going to rule cities for a 1,000 year in the Millennium etc.

Godliness is profitable in time, but even more it is profitable for the life to come. So, the one thing that you have in this life as a believer which will be profitable for you for ever and ever and ever is godliness or spiritual living. And again godliness or spiritual living is compared to physical exercise. Exercise tones up the muscles. Godliness or spiritual living tones up the spiritual life. And the believer needs spiritual power much more than physical power.

Physical power is a dime a dozen, anyone can have it if they desire, especially with the narcissus complex. However, spiritual power is hard to find. So self-discipline means;
– Dedication.
– Commitment.
– Instruction.
– Discipline.

Discipline is of no value unless it is consistent. The word discipline means to drive on or something performed or practiced in order to develop skill. Anyone can exercise even in the spiritual realm, but for a person to stick with it consistently takes character. It takes training. It takes self-discipline. It takes spiritual exercise.

Exercise for the Royal family in the congregation of the local church means:
– Self-discipline.
– Assembling together.
– Concentrating on the teaching.
– Good-manners.
– Silence
– Not disturbing.
– Not moving-around.
– Objectivity.
– Persistence in spite of distraction.

All of this is part of the spiritual exercise that takes us from salvation to spiritual self-esteem, from Spiritual Self-Esteem, Spiritual Autonomy, Spiritual Maturity.

A soldier is also known by his discipline, his armor, and his weapons so the Christian soldier must be disciplined, have his armor on and know how to use his weapons, Eph 6:10-17.

Soldiers are also clothe by the military they represent so the Christian soldier is said to be clothe by the Lord Jesus Christ, Matt 6:25-33, Gal 3:27.

A soldier is also told who to go to war with and he understands who his enemies are so the Christian soldier has his warfare appointed to him and his enemies are made known to him by the scriptures, 2Co 2:11. Basically, our enemies are said to be the world, the flesh and the devil.

A soldier is also supplied logistically for as he goes forward in training, discipline and warfare, so the Christian soldier is provided logistical grace for his spiritual walk and warfare, 2Pe 1:3. The military bears the expense of the war and furnishes the soldier with whatever is necessary for his calling. Our Lord has given us clothes, armor, weapons, and whatever we need to handle what we are going to face. Everything we need both in the natural realm and in the spiritual realm has been provided for us by God.

A soldier must also be an expert and well-skilled in his field so the Christian soldier ought to be well-skilled in all things necessary for his calling, Luk 14:25-31, Now great multitudes were going along with Him; and He turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ Or what king, when he sets out to meet another king in battle, will not first sit down and take counsel whether he is strong enough with ten thousand {men} to encounter the one coming against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks terms of peace.

So, this requires much discipline and wisdom. He must understand the word of command and be ready to obey his officer. As the psalmist in Psa 119:60, I hastened and did not delay To keep Thy commands. It is very sad in our day and age when the Christian soldier hears the commands from the Lord Jesus Christ and then delays obedience to Him.

A soldier must also know his place and how to keep both rank and file so…the Christian soldier must know his place and particular station, where he has been placed in the body of Christ by God the Holy Spirit, 1Co 12:18. Military discipline has appointed every officer in the army his proper place, and every private soldier is to abide in the same rank and file, or the place where he is set by his commander. In the military, you’re not free to change your station or post on your own…..especially in a time of battle when you expose yourself and others to great danger if orders are not followed accurately and precisely.

The Christian soldier must keep his place and particular station, where he has been placed in the body of Christ by God the Holy Spirit. 1Co 12:18, But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired.

The believer is not to quit his command when he pleases. Or because he or she doesn’t like the personality of the officer above them. The average Christian soldier has gone AWOL because of no humility, and this is especially true when it comes to keeping his place in the body of Christ. Staying with his training. Staying with his commitments. Staying with the intake of doctrine and the execution of the PPOG.

The Christian soldier is to discover God’s plan for his life and stick with it while he is growing spiritually. Pastors must keep their places, deacons must keep their places, members of each church must keep their places, and not withdraw when they please. This does not mean that you will not be promoted out of your place, it simply means you need to hold the ground that you have gained.

The following link is to a good news message describing how one can receive eternal life: Ticket to Heaven, it was written for anyone not absolutely certain about their eternal future.

Hymn #2

Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word

Before we begin, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is— you have trusted in Him for eternal life), it is important to prepare yourself to take-in God’s Word or participating in a Communion Service, so take a moment to name, cite or acknowledge your sins privately directly to God the Father. This will assure that you are in fellowship with God the Father and the Holy Spirit’s convicting ministry, also called the convincing ministry will then be able to teach you as the Holy Spirit is the real teacher and the pastor’s message is the vehicle the Holy Spirit uses to convince you what you are learning is true or not.

1 John 1:9 says—“If we confess [simply name, cite or acknowledge to God the Father] our sins [known sins], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins [known sins] and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [all unknown and forgotten sins].” NKJV (New King James Version)

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins to God; the issue for you is to believe by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life and you will be saved the very second you believe in Him:

John 6:47 says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” NKJV

Notice again what John 6:47 says, “he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” It doesn’t say, “will have”; it says, “has.” Therefore, the very moment you believe Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life, you have it (it’s really just that simple), and it can never be lost or taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-18 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for learning God’s Word, if there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

Unlike the bible study, these notes are not just for reading without watching the video. These notes are more designed to follow along during the sermon and to bring up the “hover pop-up scripture references” (some websites may require to left click the link, if that doesn’t work then look them up in your Bible) when the Pastor asks everyone to turn to that passage in their bibles.

The Doctrine of the Sins of the Tongue. Part 4.

Point 6. The believers attitude toward the Sins of the Tongue.

The believer should keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; 1Pe 3:10.

Strive to stay away from bitterness, wrath, anger, clamer and malice; Eph 4:31.

Believers should be warned against it; Tit 2:1-3.

Believers are told to return good for it; 1Co 4:13.

1Co 4:13 when we are slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become as the scum of the world, the dregs [Syn: dirt, waste, loser, outcast, scum, trash] of all things, even until now.

Believers are blessed in enduring the SOT [Sins of the Tongue]; Matt 5:11.

Matt 5:11 “Blessed are you when men cast insults at you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, on account of Me.

They should not be listened to; 1Sa 24:9 “And David said to Saul, Why do you listen to the words of men, saying, behold, David seeks to harm you’?”

Believers should be angry against the slanderer; Prov 25:23.

The reason is that slander separates friends; Prov 16:28; 17:9.

The believer’s reaction to verbal sins also should be that he realizes that the SOT [Sins of the Tongue] produces deadly wounds; Prov 18:8; 26:22.

It causes divisions among brethren; Pro 6:19 “A false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers.”

The SOT [Sins of the Tongue] can even produce murder: Psa 31:13 “For I have heard the slander of many, terror is on every side; while they took counsel together against me, they schemed to take away my life.”

The principle is simple; Korah is so obsessed with destroying Moses and Aaron to accomplish his objective, which is to take over the priesthood, that he is destroying the very office he is trying to take over.

I have Dathan and Abiram in the inner clique, but they are from the Tribe of Reuben, and their objective is different. their objective is to take over the government.

Then Korah thought about the 250 princes in the outer clique, and they were the ones who were recruiting for the revolution. and they all want to function in the tabernacle.

Notice that everything is beginning to backfire or boomerang.

Korah has to be thinking, “None of his inner and outer core is from the tribe of Levi.”

The boomerang is an Australian missile-type weapon, shaped like an elbow.

Christians who miss the target and fail to execute the PPOG experience the boomerang effect of the frantic search for happiness COMING BACK ON THEM.

In this stage, the frantic search for happiness boomerangs and returns to the believer in apostasy, intensifying the original reactor factors and his unhappiness.

When the frantic search for happiness boomerangs, frustration becomes greater frustration, misery becomes greater misery, and unhappiness becomes intensified unhappiness.

Every search for happiness makes happiness more elusive….and therefore it slips right away.

The pursuit of happiness results in bad decisions from a position of weakness, and intensifies the unhappiness of the believer. This results in intensified frustration.

Operation boomerang means loss of control of your life and the intensification of apostasy.

Under pseudo-happiness you cannot build your happiness on the details of life; E.g., money, success, pleasure, sexual life, social life, friends, family, loved ones, or materialistic things.

Under pseudo happiness you cannot even build your happiness on changing the devil’s world through crusader arrogance, social engineering, violence, civil disobedience, or revolution.

In the arrogance of unhappiness, the believer assumes that marriage is a state of happiness, and all too often makes a bad decision with regard to marriage.

Pseudo-happiness depends on involvement with some form of success or stimulation which is related to a moment of time, pleasure, success, power, or approbation.

prin – promotion cannot make you happy. prin – marriage cannot make you happy. Success, prosperity, sex, or pleasure cannot make you happy.

Of course Matt 7:1-2 Do not judge lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.

Just like many individuals who attacks authority or discredits the ones in a positions of authority, he wipes out the very office he is trying to take over = operation boomerang.

Whenever you attack authority in any realm, so that you can promote yourself to that position of authority, you are attacking yourself.

Divine institution number 1 is volition, you have authority over your own soul and with authority comes responsibility, you are responsible for you.

When you attack that authority by refusing to take responsibility for your own decisions, you are setting up a system of self-justification.

In the family, the wife discredits and disrespects the authority of her husband and she is teaching the children that it is alright to discredit and disrespect the authority of their parents.

The husband goes to work, gets with the boys, and gossips and complains and criticizes the supervisor or the foreman, he gets a promotion to that position and they do the same to him.

Politicians dig up dirty laundry and skeletons in the closet about the one in the office that they’re trying to defeat, and therefore the public begins to lose respect for the very office itself.

A man attacks a pastor with lies and slander so that he can become the new pastor, and the very office that he desires to have, he has destroyed.

Prin-In trying to wipe out others, he is actually wiping out himself.

In his desire to take over one of the highest functions in Israel, he is actually wiping out the very foundation by which he and they would all survive.

If a person promotes the discrediting of someone in authority to get that authority, then it is only a matter of time before his authority is destroyed as well.

He is actually wiping out the very foundation by which he would survive, the Levitical priesthood.

While this conversation is going on with Moses, Korah’s eyes probably glance over at the personality boys, the 250 princes, and he realizes that they all think they can do the job just as good as him.

Prin – One thing about power and approbation lust, it always blinds the person who uses them.

Prin-When there is dissatisfaction it leads to blindness, and the blindness is unreality.

Moses points out that these rebels do not have the same objectives and actually Korah, instead of leading the revolution ought to be on the side of Moses protecting the rights of the tribe of Levi.

The N.T. application is also very obvious: No man desiring the office of pastor teacher should ever attack that office to attain his desire.

He is destroying the very office he is aspiring to.

Korah then in his irrationality is leading a conspiracy which would destroy the prerogatives and the authorities of the tribe of Levi.

He is no longer holding up the sacred order of the Levitical priesthood, but he is extending the functions of the Levitical order to the 250 princes of Israel, none of which are Levites.

Irrationality has no place in the function of leadership.

In contrast, Moses is totally rational, having lifted the shield of faith and having put the entire conspiracy in the Lord’s hands.

The authority of Bible doctrine in Israel cannot be restored until there is divine judgment of the leaders in the conspiracy in Israel.

Prin – Moses had no idea that this conspiracy was brewing and therefore God had to bring the conspirators to the service.

The conspiracy in this case is an attempt to overthrow the theocratic government of the first client nation.

The theocratic government is the government set up by God AND THAT IS WHY GOD HAS TO BRING FORTH WHAT WE ARE NOW READY FOR THE 10 COMMAANDMENATS OR THE GIVING OF THE MOSAIC LAW.

Conspiracy also creates a vacuum into which the least qualified persons have exceeded their capacity for rule and provided arrogant, emotional and incompetent leadership.

The implication is obvious, if an individual attacks the spiritual authority in a local assembly to aspire to that position, that individual will be attacking the very authority that he is aspiring to.

Since only Aaron as the legitimate high priest of Israel can actually carry the censer from the bronze altar outside the tabernacle to the golden altar of incense in the tabernacle and live.

He is going to allow those 250 princes to do what God has only permitted Aaron to do.

These 250 princes and Korah will have the opportunity of proving whether or not they have the gift and the ability to operate in the tabernacle.

He just says in effect you operate in what you consider to be your gift, we will operate in what we consider to be our gift, and then we will let the Lord prove who is in his right calling.

To them, it didn’t matter if God came through for Moses or not.

If Moses received blessing and promotion and vindication from the Lord, they would say that the devil is blessing Moses.

If Moses did not receive vindication and blessing from the Lord, they would say God is disciplining Moses,…..he’s under divine discipline.

Remember Luk 6:40, A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.

Hos 4:7, The more they multiplied, the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame.

These people had no knowledge of the Word of God. Their darkness was a result of their own ignorance (Hos 4:6; Cf. John 3:19; Rom 13:12; 2Co 4:6).
Hos 4:6, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

John 3:19, And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light;

Rom 13:12, The night is almost gone, and the day is at hand. Let us therefore lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Hos 4:8, They feed on the sin of My people, And direct their desire toward their iniquity.

They set their heart on their iniquity, people not only sinned, they bragged about it (Cf. Isa 5:18).

Isa 5:20, Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Hos 4:9-11, And it will be, like people, like priest; So I will punish them for their ways, And repay them for their deeds. And they will eat, but not have enough; They will play the harlot, but not increase, Because they have stopped giving heed to the Lord. Harlotry, wine, and new wine take away the understanding.

Phil 2:25, Now I consider it necessary to send face to face with you Epaphroditus, my brother also my fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger and minister to my need;

The point is that a soldier does not lead a normal life and that is what Paul is saying here. The Ministry is not a normal life. I want to point out to you some of the similarities of being a soldier as far as the Word of God teaches!

2Ti 2:1-5, You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. And also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rule.
As believers, we have been commanded to fight the good fight of faith under the command of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2Ti 4:7-8, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.

The point is that every believer has been enlisted in the spiritual army of God as a spiritual soldier of Jesus Christ. Most believers have not been listening. They have not been sensitive and respectful to God’s book. They have not been learning from His truths. In fact, as believers they have gone AWOL. They have not been acting like a soldier.

So, there are some interesting analogies concerning a soldier in the natural realm and a soldier in the spiritual realm. For example, a soldier must give up his freedom to serve his country and a believer is to give up his freedom to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the principle behind passages like Matt 16:24-25, Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake shall find it.”

Gal 5:13 says, For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through virtue-love serve one another.

1Pe 2:16 says, Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.

So, a soldier must give up his freedom to serve his country and therefore the Christian soldier is to give up his freedom to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. A soldier must leave all of his worldly affairs behind as he goes forward to serve his country. That’s what Paul is referring to when he says in 2Ti 2:4, No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

The first thing that a soldier does is to go into training after he has enlisted in the military and the first thing all believers need is spiritual training through the intake of doctrine. As believers we are to be are armed with the full armor of God.

Eph 6:11-17, Pick up and put on the full armor from God, so that you may be able to hold your ground against the strategies of the devil. For our warfare is not against blood and flesh, [against human beings] but against the rulers [demon generals, commanders like Abaddon and Apollyon, Beelzebub], against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness [demon ambassadors to world rulers and demon conspirators], against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. These are the rank and file demons. Therefore, pick up and put on the full armor from God, so that you may be able to hold your ground in the day that evil attacks you, and having done everything, hold your ground. Hold your ground therefore, after you have buckled on your combat gear around your waist with truth [a reference to the P.M.A. of B.D.], and [after] having put on the breastplate of righteousness, [hold your ground] after you have put on your combat boots on your feet with the readiness, [or preparation, equipment] of the gospel of peace. In addition to all, [all of these items of military equipment] taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish [intercept and destroy] all the flaming missiles of the evil one. And take or receive favorably and welcome the helmet of salvation, and [receive favorably and welcome] the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

The point is that there is a great and powerful kingdom surrounding you and doing its best to stop you from going forward in the plan of God for your life, and to try and hinder your spiritual growth. It is called the kingdom of darkness and it is controlled by your adversary, the devil in 1Pe 5:8. Satan is a very powerful king on earth whose desire is to first, seduce us and then to ultimately defeat us. That’s why many believers are being seduced today.

The king of this world, Satan, with his many philosophies will keep on throwing them in your direction until he finally sees one hit. We know that Satan is a king because he has a kingdom according to Matt 12:26, and he is the ruler of that kingdom. You can try and hide from this as much as you want, but if you listen long enough to the shouting of Satan, the god of this world, eventually your life will cave in. And the shouts keep coming from all directions.

The philosophies are thrown at you from every angle. Human viewpoint rationalization comes from family and friends. Remember what our Lord said to the religious Jews in John 8:23, “You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world.”

If you live the life that the Lord has called you to live, you will live of life that is from above. If not, you will end up being attacked by the great king of this earth surrounding your soul and trying to stop your momentum in the Christian way of life. nd you’ll know that Satan is succeeding when all of a sudden you’ve lost your peace, composure, poise, happiness or contentment.

This great and powerful king, Satan uses thoughts and projections to do so. That’s why we are told in Eph 6:16, in addition to all [the armor of God], taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one.

Those flaming missiles are the philosophies of life. Those flaming missiles are the weapons of the king surrounding your soul. Satan has invisible missiles that attack the soul and cause human viewpoint on the part of believers which neutralizes them and draws them away from the PPOG. The kingdom of darkness throws thoughts and ideas at us through the media, friends, family members, believers, unbelievers, enemies, and sometimes even from our own presumptuous ideas.

Then if that doesn’t work, there is a direct attack made upon you which is much closer as we will see in the Christian soldier! The ultimate goal of the kingdom of darkness which attacks your soul is to do whatever it can to take you away from the PPOG and the teaching of Bible doctrine.

Why?

Because doctrine exposes its lies.

2Co 2:11, in order that no advantage be taken of us by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his schemes.

As the god or the ruler of this world, Satan has placed foolish individuals in positions of authority so that he can try and control the entire world system. This is how he fulfills Rev 12:9, And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world;

You can’t deceive the whole world unless you control it, or most of it. Satan has the power and the ability to put whomever he desires in prominent positions. We are not told to fight with those in positions of authority or rulership, but instead become more occupied with God’s plan for our life. This is why throughout the Bible we are commanded not to fight the devil or try to dethrone him or to dethrone those who are in positions of authority that Satan has placed them in. But rather we are told to rise above it all and execute God’s plan.

Eph 6:11, Pick up and put on the full armor from God, so that you may be able to hold your ground against the strategies of the devil.

Eph 6:13, …hold your ground in the day that evil attacks you.

James 4:7, Submit therefore to God [execute the PPOG]. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

1Pe 5:9, But resist the devil by being firm in your doctrine.

The point is that we are not to attack the rulership of this world but to resist the attacks that they make upon our soul by rising above it all and living the Christian way of life in spite of the pressure placed upon us.

A soldier is also known by his discipline, his armor, and his weapons. So the Christian soldier must be disciplined, have his armor on and know how to use his weapons. In fact, the soldier is trained to do the same thing over and over and over again. Through this repetition he is trained if he gets into a stressful situation and he cannot think immediately, he will automatically do what he has been trained to do under pressure. This is true for the spiritual soldier as well. This is security for you because, when you get under pressure, you will think the right thing, do the right thing, and apply the right doctrine because you have repeatedly learned the doctrine.

The more doctrinal things you can do automatically, the greater your life will be.
If you make good decisions from a position of strength in normal times, you will be able to do so in time of pressure and disaster. The difference between fear and courage is the ability to concentrate under pressure.

If you have trouble concentrating under normal situations, you will have trouble concentrating under pressure situations. If you don’t think doctrine under normal circumstances, you will be filled with fear during abnormal circumstances. But, those of you who take the course under normal circumstances have a chance to learn how to handle disaster. This does not necessarily mean that you will. There are many who will sit through the course but will not metabolize the lesson or if they do, they will fail to apply it at the appropriate time.

In combat, a man has to be trained for the job and that takes time. He has to know how to do his job under normal conditions before he is given the job under abnormal conditions. It’s the training that makes him victorious not his lack of fear or his courage. Soldiers are also clothed by the military they represent so the Christian soldier is said to be clothed by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matt 6:25-33, “For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, {as to} what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, {as to} what you shall put on.

That takes care of being clothed in the natural realm! In the spiritual realm, Gal 3:27, For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Every believer has been enlisted in the spiritual army of God and is a spiritual soldier of Jesus Christ. A soldier is also told who to go to war with and he understands who his enemies are. The Christian soldier has his warfare appointed to him and his enemies are made known to him by the scriptures! Basically, our enemies are said to be the world, the flesh and the devil. For example, we are told that the devil makes war against the Lamb and His followers, in Rev 17:14, “These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.”

A soldier is also supplied logistically for as he goes forward in training, discipline and warfare, so the Christian soldier is provided logistical grace for his spiritual walk and warfare.

So let’s look at some analogies between a natural soldier and a spiritual one:

1. A soldier must give up his freedom to serve his country and a believer is to give up his freedom to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, Matt 16:24-25.

2. A soldier must leave all of his worldly affairs behind as he goes forward to serve his country, 2Ti 2:4.

3. The first thing that a soldier does is to go into training after he has enlisted in the military and the first thing all believers need is spiritual training through the intake of doctrine, 1Ti 4:6-8.

1Ti 4:7-8, the apostle Paul uses physical exercise as an analogy to self-discipline!

1Ti 4:7, But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;

Again we see the importance of self-discipline. Why does it say to discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness? Because it requires self-discipline and organization to execute the Pre-designed Plan of God even if you have Bible doctrine as your number 1 priority.

1Ti 4:8 for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things,

There is profit in physical exercise but it’s only for a short time. The reason why we have exercise used as an analogy to godliness is because exercise requires self-discipline. You have to have a priority slot for exercise. You have to exercise (if you take it seriously) whether you feel like it or not. This is why there are all kinds of gadgets and pills on the market that really are trying to monopolize on inconsistency. However, you have to be consistent for exercise to be profitable.

1Ti 4:8, for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things,

For all eternity because some of you were consistent and faithful in the little things you are going to have the uniform of glory, the order of the morning star, the various different crowns, your name recorded in the historical section of heaven, you are going to rule cities for a 1,000 year in the Millennium. Godliness is profitable in time, but even more it is profitable for the life to come. Verse 8 says – it holds promise for this life and the life to come.

So, the one thing that you have in this life as a believer which will be profitable for you for ever and ever and ever is godliness or spiritual living. Again, godliness or spiritual living is compared to physical exercise. Exercise tones up the muscles, just like Godliness or spiritual living tones up the spiritual life. The believer needs spiritual power much more than physical power. Physical power is a dime a dozen, and anyone can have it if they desire. However, spiritual power is hard to find.

So, self-discipline means:
Dedication
Commitment
Instruction
Discipline.

The word discipline means to drive on or something performed or practiced in order to develop skill. Anyone can exercise, even in the spiritual realm, but for a person to stick with it consistently takes character. It takes training, self-discipline, spiritual exercise.

Exercise for the Royal family in the congregation of the local church means:
1) Self-discipline
2) Assembling together
3) Concentrating on the teaching
4) Good-manners
5) Silence.
6) Not commenting
7) Not disturbing
8) Not moving-around
9) Objectivity
10) Persistence in spite of distraction.

All of this is part of the spiritual exercise that takes us from salvation to Spiritual Self Esteem (SSE) to Spiritual Adulthood (SA) to Spiritual Maturity (SM).

A soldier is also known by his discipline, his armor, and his weapons so the Christian soldier must be disciplined, have his armor on and know how to use his weapons, Eph 6:10-17. Soldiers are also clothed by the military they represent so the Christian soldier is said to be clothe by the Lord Jesus Christ, Matt 6:25-33, Gal 3:27.

A soldier must also be an expert and well-skilled in his field so the Christian soldier ought to be well-skilled in all things necessary for his calling, Luk 14:31.

Luk 14:25-32, Now great multitudes were going along with Him; and He turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.

A soldier must also know his place and how to keep both rank and file so the Christian soldier must know his place and particular station, where he has been placed in the body of Christ by God the Holy Spirit, 1Co 12:18. Military discipline has appointed every officer in the army his proper place, and every private soldier is to abide in the same rank and file, or the place where he is set by his commander.

In the military, you’re not free to change your station or post on your own…especially in a time of battle when you expose yourself and others to great danger if orders are not followed accurately and precisely.

This does not mean that you will not be promoted, it simply means you need to hold the ground that you have gained.

Soldiers must also follow their leader. So every Christian soldier follows the Lord Jesus Christ and ought to have his eye upon Him through the intake of doctrine, see Matt 10:38.

Rev 14:1-4, And I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder, and the voice which I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps. And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one could learn the song except the one hundred and forty-four thousand who had been purchased from the earth. These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb.

So, every Christian Soldier is to follow the Lord Jesus Christ and ought to have his eye upon Him through the intake of doctrine. As Christian soldiers, we must be willing to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in His reproaches, afflictions, difficulties and even dangers if necessary. And remember that this is the intensified stage of the angelic conflict and therefore many of these principles take place in the invisible realm as well. This is why the Christian soldier ought to be well skilled and an expert in God’s wisdom so that he is not ignorant of Satan and his devices.

2Co 2:11, in order that no advantage be taken of us by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his schemes.

There is a spiritual war made against the soul of the believer and it is something that none us can afford to be ignorant of. Nothing is more necessary for spiritual soldiers than wisdom and power from God especially when we are faced with internal adversaries. For example, you need to understand that not only does the kingdom of darkness try to put things in our mind but in reality their best work is done by keeping things out….namely doctrinal viewpoint.

Remember that our adversary the devil is compared to a serpent because he is sly and deceitful. The devil is a subtle enemy and the Christian soldier is his main target. If Satan could overcome man and woman when they were in a perfect state without an OSN, just think of how easy he can do it now. Therefore, divine wisdom is needed or else we will become fools.

Eph 5:14-17, For this reason it says, Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you. Therefore, be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So, then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Satan is a master at choosing the proper time and the most advantageous season for tempting and attacking the believer. Satan knows when to make his attacks and the time when he is most likely to prevail.

The Doctrine of the Sins of the Tongue. Part 2.

Point 1 dealt with definition and classification.

Sin is a violation of the law or standards of God and these divine standards are revealed in the Word of God.

Still under Point 1 we need to note the essence of the old sin nature.

(1) The area of weakness.

(2) The area of strength.

(3) The trends of the sin nature:

(4) The lust pattern of the OSN.

First, emotional sins. For instance sins related to fear, which includes worry and anxiety. Sins related to hatred, which includes anger, violence, and murder. Sins related to self-pity and guilt.

The second category of sins are mental attitude sins.
These include arrogance, pride, jealousy, implacability, bitterness, vindictiveness, inordinate ambition and inordinate competition, all motivational sins, and sinful thoughts.

The third category is our subject verbal sins which include gossip, maligning, slander, judging, lying, and verbal deception.

The fourth category is overt sins = chemical sins, sexual sins, criminal sins.

All of this information leads us to Point 2. – The source of verbal sins.

All verbal sins originate from mental attitude sins,
Which lead to motivational sins;
Which lead to the sins of the tongue;
Which are designed to destroy your life.

Point 3. Out of the seven worst sins from God’s viewpoint, not man’s but Gods’ three are related to the tongue as verbal sins, Prov 6:16 19.

A right lobe that devises evil plans [anti-authority sins, conspiracy, and revolution], feet which run rapidly to evil [a trouble-maker], a false witness who utters lies [perjury], and a person who spreads strife among the brethren [gossip, slander, maligning, judging].”

Point 4. The double standard related to the sins of the tongue.
The “emptiness” here is gossip, slander, maligning, judging from self-righteous arrogance; hence, the conversation of the believer involved in legalism and immoral degeneracy.

The legalism of self righteous arrogance has rejected the grace standards of doctrine.

The tongue is used to flatter those you are trying to persuade with regard to your slander, while at the same time slandering someone else.

Self-righteousness sets up a double standard of self vindication on the one hand, while judging and maligning on the other hand.

Flattery and hypocrisy toward those that you are speaking evil to.
Gossip and maligning that you do toward the one that you are speaking evil against.

The double standard also means that in arrogance the carnal believer ignores his own sins, while slandering, maligning, and judging the sins of others.

(a) Through subjective arrogance by creating a role-model and then destroying it through gossip, slander, maligning, and judging.

(b) He becomes a distraction to others through the function of legalism, in the slander, maligning, and judging of another believer, the self-righteous arrogance does not vindicate self, but condemns self without knowing it.

The self righteous Pharisees thought it was “their duty” to destroy the perfect Son of God.

The legalistic judaizers thought it was “their duty” to discredit the grace ministry of Paul and stone him.

Rom 2:1 “Therefore, you are without excuse, every person who keeps on judging others; for in that you judge another, you condemn yourself, because you who judge practice the same things.”

The blindness of arrogance is that you are committing the worst of sins when you malign, slander, or judge someone else of committing some sin.

The self righteous arrogance of the evil believer assumes the prerogative of replacing our Lord Jesus Christ as the presiding Judge of the supreme court of heaven.

Legalism judges the sins of other believers, real or imagined, which are different from his own sins.

Respectability maligning others is one of the most evil functions in the Christian way of life.

Prin – It is a double standard of arrogance to judge, slander, malign, condemn the sins of others, while at the same time being blind to or ignoring your own sins.

It is neither the duty, responsibility or prerogative of the believer to assume the role and function of Jesus Christ as the Supreme Court Judge.

It is the responsibility of every believer to judge his own life in the light of Bible doctrine.

Grace-righteousness and self righteousness are mutually exclusive.

However, in the case of criminality, that responsibility has been delegated by our Lord to the government.

After the resurrection of the church all believers will be evaluated by our Lord Jesus Christ.

The condemnation of all of the wrong things we have done.
This is the ashamedness which is described as related to the judgment seat of Christ. 1Jo 2:28.

This is when we, that is “IF” we are winner believers, will receive rewards and blessings for all the things we have done to execute God’s plan if we have done so.

The Doctrine of the Sins of the Tongue.

“Why” people say what they say, “think” how they think and do what they do.

Their thoughts, words and actions depend upon the shoes on their feet…. or what they personally are going through in their own life.

The Doctrine of the Sins of the Tongue. Point 1. Definition and classification.

Sin is a violation of the law or standards of God.

Sin is also a transgression against divine law.

The sinfulness of sin lies in the fact that it is against God even when the wrong we do is to others or to ourselves.

Since God’s character and standards are perfect, anything that violates that has been defined in the scripture as sin.

When God gives soul-life at birth, He also imputes Adam’s original sin to the old sin nature so that he can deal with man’s #1 problem, rejection of the divine commands from headquarters in heaven.

Adam could only sin in the garden; He could not produce good or evil for he did not have a sin nature and once he did, the Lord expelled him from the garden.

Good and evil can only be produced after man has a sin nature.

We are spiritually dead before we commit our first sin.

The total depravity of man is given in Psa 51:5; 58:3.

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.

Psa 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb; These who speak lies go astray from birth.

The fact that the baby is safe and secure is given in passages such as 2Sa 12:23 “But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.”

They are safe because they have not reached accountability. John 4:11 “And should I not have compassion on Nineveh, the great city in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know the difference between their right and left hand, as well as many animals?”

They are saved because they have been protected by one or both parents in 1Co 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

We are also totally helpless to understand spiritual phenomena because we are dichotomous, having only a body and soul but no human spirit.

This is why we need to be born again so that we can become trichotomus, having a body, soul, and spirit as taught in 1Th 5:23.

1Th 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s also why our Lord said in John 3:3 “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Then in John 3:6-7, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

(1) Spiritual death at birth. (2) The function of human volition.

All sins prior to salvation are blotted out at the moment of salvation; Isa 44:22, 43:25.

Isa 43:25 “I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.

Isa 44:22 “I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud, And your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”

(1) Sins of cognizance, in which a person, recognizing the temptation as a sin, wants to do it, and he does it.

(2) Sins of ignorance, in which a person is not aware that the old sin nature is tempting him to sin; but he desires to do the sin, and he does it. An unknown sin is still sin and that is why our Lord forgives unknown sins in 1Jo 1:9.

Because all sin is related to the function of human volition, the believer is responsible for both categories of sin in his life.

You must understand that Jesus Christ was judged on the cross for both sins of ignorance and sins of cognizance.

When the believer acknowledges or names a sin of cognizance in rebound, he is simultaneously forgiven the sins of ignorance committed during the time of being out of fellowship.

1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all righteousness.

With volitional involvement, ignorance is no excuse, because both the sin nature and human volition are involved in the committing of sin.

Point 1. The essence of the old sin nature.

(1) The area of weakness. This is the source of all temptation to sin.

It is not sinful to be tempted; But it is sinful to succumb to the temptation.

(2) The area of strength. This produces a negative type good called human good. This is also called “dead works” and “wood, hay, and stubble; 1Co 3:11-15.

(3) The trends of the sin nature: legalism, which results in moral degeneracy; antinomianism, which results in immoral degeneracy.

(4) The lust pattern includes power lust, approbation lust, social lust, sexual lust, chemical lust, monetary lust, crusader lust, inordinate ambition resulting in inordinate competition, lust for revenge, criminal lust, and pleasure lust.

This includes power lust, approbation lust, social lust, sexual lust, chemical lust, monetary lust, crusader lust, inordinate ambition resulting in inordinate competition, lust for revenge, criminal lust, and pleasure lust.

(a) The lust pattern of the sin nature eliminates or destroys Bible doctrine as the number one priority in life.

(b) lust destroys the motivation of the believer to execute the PPOG. He neglects the principle of PMA of B.D.

(c) Lust is a distraction to the normal operation of the Christian way of life.

(d) Lust divorces the believer from reality, which nullifies the understanding and use of the problem solving devices of the PPOG.

(e) Lust turns the believer into a tricky and deceitful person.

(f) Lust destroys the believer’s motivation to glorify God, and turns the believer’s motivation into self-promoting motivation.

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew yourselves approved unto God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.

1Pe 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;

Psa 119:46 I will also speak of Thy testimonies before kings, And shall not be ashamed.

Psa 81:10 “I, the Lord, am your God, Who brought you up from the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

First, emotional sins. fear, worry, anxiety, hatred, which includes anger, violence, and murder, self-pity and guilt.

Mental attitude sins = These include arrogance, pride, jealousy, implacability, bitterness, vindictiveness, inordinate ambition and inordinate competition, all motivational sins, and sinful thoughts.

The third category is our subject verbal sins which include gossip, maligning, slander, judging, lying, and verbal deception.
