Prepare yourself for learning the Word of God!

Before we begin, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is; you have believed [trusted] in Him for His promised gift of eternal life), it is important to prepare yourself to learn God's Word so take a moment to name, cite or acknowledge (confess) your sins privately to God (i.e.; with your thoughts directed only to God the Father).

1 John 1:9 says: "If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins (known sins) and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [unknown or forgotten sins]." NKJV (New King James Version) [italics added]; we call this REBOUND, read the full doctrine as to “why” we need to use 1 John 1:9 to grow spiritually. REBOUND

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins; the issue for you is to simply exercise faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life; when you do, you will instantly receive Eternal Life: John 3:16, 5:24, 6:47, 20:30, 31.

John 6:47 says: "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life." NKJV [italics added]

Notice again what Jesus said in John 6:47: "…he who believes in Me (Jesus Christ) has everlasting life." It doesn't say, "will have"; it says, "has." Therefore, the very moment you believe in Jesus Christ for His promise of everlasting life, you have it (it's really just that simple; nothing more and nothing less), and it can never be taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift (Ephesians 2:8c) of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-15, 16, 17, 18, says: "14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for worship and learning God's Word. If there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

Study to show yourself approved to God!

STUDY TITLE:

The Doctrine of Dispensations. Dispensation of Conscience.

We are now ready to conclude the dispensation of Conscience and what happened to Noah in the antediluvian civilization as far as the ark and the flood were concerned. The main lesson is that the patience of God waited 120 years! During that period, they received the most intensive Gospel proclamation in all of human history.

Gen 6:11-13, Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth. Then God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth.”

This was a direct order from God and one of things that we all need to understand is that when God gives an order you don’t always have to understand it, you just have to do it. Anyone who understands authority recognizes the fact that yours is not to reason why, yours is to do and die! That’s the principle of authority, you’re not to question it, you are to honor and respect it…even if you disagree with it as the apostle Paul says in R0m 13:1-7, where they we told to honor Nero.

Gen 6:14, “Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch.”

A few Biblical principles and analogies are in view.

First of the word for ark is the Hebrew noun tebah, which refers to a wooden ship constructed of gopher or cyprus wood, used because it is was a light but tough wood. Gold represents the Deity of Christ, wood is used for the humanity of Christ, and together they reveal the Hypostatic-union, undiminished deity and true humanity in one person forever. The gopher wood being light refers to the gentleness of the Lord, and the toughness refers to His strength, especially His spiritual strength, though He was also physically strong. The rooms represent the rooms in the soul and the bulkheads were secured with pitch or asphalt which is analogous to the work of Christ on the cross. Pitch keeps out the waters of divine judgment from entering into the ark.

It is also important to note that there was only one set of plans that were used, which is analogous to the Pre-designed Plan of God for us being the only plan we are to follow. The ratio and dimensions of the ark made it completely seaworthy. The principle is that only the plan of God has stability and the ability to survive in the chaos of the world.

Now notice in Gen 6:15, “And this is HOW you shall make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.”

It was [300 cubits] 450 feet long [that’s one and a half football fields], seventy-five feet wide, and forty-five feet high. The analogy is that Jesus Christ is the ark, those inside of the ark represent those believers in Christ while those who were not on the ark represent those who do not believe in Jesus Christ, and are destroyed. That is the principle of 1Pe 3:20, those who were disobedient when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.

Gen 6:16, “You shall make a window for the ark, and finish it to a cubit from the top; and set the door of the ark in the side of it; you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.”

There was also only one door in the ark, analogous to the fact that there is only one way to come to God and be saved and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ who said in John 10:9, “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved.” There was also only one window analogous to the fact there is only one objective after salvation, one perspective, divine viewpoint, Bible doctrine.

And notice in verse 16 you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks. This represents the concept of progress after salvation, Spiritual self-esteem, spiritual autonomy and spiritual maturity.

There is only one place of security in time of disaster, inside the ark. The ark represents to us the principle of eternal security and being in union with Christ. The believers inside the ark were not all mature believers, but they were blessed by being in the ark as we are blessed by simply being in union with Christ.

In the next few chapters we have all the details mentioned to us concerning what took place on that ark which floated for 40 days, 40 representing the number of testing and temptation. However, that is not our subject for now so we now move forward to Gen 9.

Gen 9:8-17, Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying, “Now behold, I Myself do establish My covenant with you, and with your descendants after you; and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark, even every beast of the earth. And I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth… This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations; I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. And it shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud, and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth…This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.

The earth will only be destroyed once more in its entirety, and that will occur at the end of the Millennium (2Pe 3:7). At that time, God will cause a nuclear meltdown or explosion that will destroy the earth entirely. Under the principle that Jesus Christ controls history, there must be, from time to time, great judgments, so that certain segments of the population which are self-destructive can be wiped out. And so the question arises: How did God ‘destroy them with planet earth?’ In Gen 7:11 He opened up the fountains of the deep.

Remember the water that flooded the entire earth came from below the surface of the earth. One Biblical scientist states that the rain that came from above contributed a very small portion to the flood. So this verse stresses the importance of God’s grace in judgment, seen in the work of our Lord on the Cross, also seen in our Lord’s removal of evil empires from time to time to avoid the self-destruction of the human race.

So, let’s get some principles:

1. Verse 17 is a part of the principle that grace always precedes judgment. God walks every extra mile before He lowers the boom.

2. God warns about the coming judgment through the doctrinal communication of Noah. And that’s what doctrine does to us! 2Ti 3:16, All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

3. God provides the ark as the vehicle for safety and security and as well as a training aid while Noah is preaching. Noah points to the ship that he has been building and tells people that unless they are on it, they’re going to perish! So that before the judgment came they all had every opportunity to respond and be saved.

4. The devil tried to hinder the incarnation by angelic infiltration into the human race but all he did was to destroy the citizens in his own kingdom. And that’s inevitably what he always does…he always loses to God in the long run and destroys his own followers. He may win a battle seemingly but he always ends up losing the war.

5. The ark was the only place of safety when international judgment fell on the human race just as being in Christ is the only place of safety from eternal judgment. And as in the days of Noah so all in human history everyone has a chance to be saved and everyone has a chance to know truth!

In John 12:32, the Lord said, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”

Whether they respond when He draws them is another thing…but they will be drawn! And anyone can know God if they truly desire according to the word of God. The concept of man seeking God is found in Jer 29:13, And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

John 7:17, If any man is willing to do His will, he shall know of the doctrine whether it is of God.

So, in human history everyone has a chance to be saved and to learn doctrinal truth. And we often feel sorry for nations going down and sympathize with people under great disastrous conditions but, we should never fail to realize a very important principle….God is just and everyone has a chance. No nation ever goes down unless God permits it! No group of people goes down unless Jesus Christ who controls history allows it to happen!

Gen 6:18-21, “But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall enter the ark you and your sons and your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark [this of course is necessary for the repopulation of the earth], to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. Of the birds after their kind, and of the animals after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind [all the reptiles], two of every kind shall come to you to keep them alive. And as for you, take for yourself some of all food which is edible, and gather it to yourself; and it shall be for food for you and for them.”

The flood would last 40 days but before the water would recede and before they would leave the ark they would live in that ark for one year and five days, or 370 days. And therefore Noah would need food for eight people plus feed for the animals that were to be brought into the ark.

Gen 6:22, Thus Noah did; according to all that God had commanded him, so he did.

Gen 7:11-12, In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened. And the rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.

Remember the water that flooded the entire earth came from below the surface of the earth.

The conclusion is not really found here with regard to Noah, it’s a well known story to most of you and it has some great spiritual lessons. However, there are other portions of the word of God which comment on Noah.

First of all Noah had the high honor in Gen 6:9 of being said to be one of those believers who walked with God, one of the highest honors in the Old Testament. There is a trio of super-grace or mature believers mentioned in Eze 14:14, and Eze 14:20, and Noah is one of them (Noah, Daniel, and Job). Noah is one of the great mature believers of all time! Noah is also used as an analogy of the preservation of Israel in Isa 54:7-9, and therefore Noah was used for many messages for the prophets speaking to the Jews and that in itself indicates the greatness of the man.

The mature believer Noah had tremendous doctrine resident in his soul so much so that he made God’s hall of fame in Heb 11:7. Noah was also referred to and honored by the Lord during His earthly ministry, therefore The deliverance, Matt 24:37-38, Luke 17:26-27. Noah was also said to be a great teacher or communicator of doctrine in 2Pe 2:5. Like all great believers, Noah had failures which is not unusual nor surprising but like all great believers his greatness is related to the doctrine in his soul, Gen 9:20-24, Then Noah began farming and planted a vineyard. And he drank of the wine and became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it upon both their shoulders and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were turned away, so that they did not see their father’s nakedness. When Noah awoke from his wine, he knew what his youngest son had done to him. So, he said, “Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brothers.” He also said, ‘Blessed be the Lord, The God of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant. May God enlarge Japheth, And let him dwell in the tents of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant.” And Noah lived three hundred and fifty years after the flood. So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and he died.

There have been many different reasons given concerning what Ham did to his father Noah that caused Noah to curse him.

I will give you some of them and it’s up to you to form your own conclusions if you desire to.

1. It has recently been pointed out that, in 1time in which they lived that looking at another person’s genitals was indeed regarded as a serious matter, and therefore some say that was Ham’s transgression.

2. Others says Ham left his father naked to expose his father’s drunken disgrace.

Ham laughed at his father’s shame and did not cover it, but laughed about it and mocked him.’

3. Ancient commentaries have also debated whether ‘seeing’ someone’s nakedness meant to have sex with that person according to Lev 20:17.

In Lev 20:17 to see someone’s nakedness was to have sex with them.

Lev 20:17 ‘If there is a man who takes his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, so that he sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace;

4. In 500 AD there were those who said that the Talmud taught Ham either castrated his father or sodomized him.

The same explanations are found in three Greek translations of the Bible, which replace the word ‘see’ in verse 22 with another word denoting homosexual relations.

5. Ham’s offense also was said to be the mocking of drinking wine which Noah and other priests at that time considered to be a form of celebration with the Lord.

For remember, even our Lord said in Matt 26:29 ‘But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.’

He became jealous of Noah’s additional children born after the flood and began to view his father with enmity, and one day, when Noah lay drunk and naked in his tent, Ham saw him and sang a mocking incantation that rendered Noah temporarily sterile, as if castrated.

One teaching that became prevalent and popular during the 17th and 18th centuries is that Ham was the father of the black race and is the reason why many of them were sold into slavery degrading them with prejudice.

This is an evil blasphemous anti-God and anti-doctrinal view that is from the pit of hell.

My Bible says in Gal 3:26-28, For we are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of us who were baptized into Christ have clothed ourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all equal in Christ Jesus.

So much then for the dispensation of conscience.

Hymn #2

Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word

Before we begin, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is— you have trusted in Him for eternal life), it is important to prepare yourself to take-in God’s Word or participating in a Communion Service, so take a moment to name, cite or acknowledge your sins privately directly to God the Father. This will assure that you are in fellowship with God the Father and the Holy Spirit’s convicting ministry, also called the convincing ministry will then be able to teach you as the Holy Spirit is the real teacher and the pastor’s message is the vehicle the Holy Spirit uses to convince you what you are learning is true or not.

1 John 1:9 says—“If we confess [simply name, cite or acknowledge to God the Father] our sins [known sins], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins [known sins] and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [all unknown and forgotten sins];” NKJV (New King James Version); we call this REBOUND, read the full doctrine as to “why” we need to use 1 John 1:9 to grow spiritually. REBOUND

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins to God; the issue for you is to believe by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life and you will be saved the very second you believe in Him:

John 6:47 says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” NKJV

Notice again what John 6:47 says, “he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” It doesn’t say, “will have”; it says, “has.” Therefore, the very moment you believe Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life, you have it (it’s really just that simple), and it can never be lost or taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-18 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for learning God’s Word, if there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

Unlike the bible study, these notes are not just for reading without watching the video. These notes are more designed to follow along during the sermon and to bring up the “hover pop-up scripture references” (some websites may require to left click the link, if that doesn’t work then look them up in your Bible) when the Pastor asks everyone to turn to that passage in their bibles.

Sermon: Dispensation of the Mosaic Law. The Fourth Commandment.
The Sabbath. The Sabbatical year of Israel. Part 2.

We are now ready to continue and conclude our doctrine of the of the Sabbath which is what is known as the sabbatical year of Israel, Exo 23:10-11; Lev 25:3-4, Lev 26:33-37.

Passages such as what the apostle Paul wrote in 1Co 16:22 If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be accursed. Maranatha.

Passages such as what the apostle John wrote in John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Passages like Heb 10:25 which states that we should gather together as we see the day approaching.

Passages like what Peter said in 2Pe 1:19 And so we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.

In just a few years, Satan with his deceitful army and games that he plays against anyone who chooses to follow the writer of the book of Hebrews, now he addresses the entire Royal Family.

This is why the apostle Paul wrote the importance of unity and having the same goal as members of the Royal family.

This was the big test of supergrace or what we would call the test of faith-rest —.

Every seven years, the Jews were supposed to stop work.

If they had been functioning properly under supergrace, then this was really a year’s vacation in which they didn’t have to work.

Having followed so well the laws of divine establishment, and having functioned under the P.M.A. of B.D., they now took a break on the seventh year to exercise their capacity for life.

So, they did not work for a full year without any detriment to them.

Now it is very interesting that the failure of the Jews to observe the sabbatical year was the basis for determining how long they would stay out under the fifth cycle of discipline.

The fifth cycle of discipline was God trying to wake up the human heart to what is important and what are you really are living for.

John 7:34 “You shall seek Me, and shall not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.”

Psa 102:3, “For my days vanish like the smoke; my bones burn like glowing embers.”

Psa 102:23, “In the course of my life, He broke my strength; He cut short my days.”

Psa 89:49, “You have cut short the days of his youth; And you have covered him with a mantle of shame.”

Psa 90:9, “All of our days pass under Your wrath; We finish our years with a moan.”

From the Exodus until the first administration of the fifth cycle of discipline to the southern kingdom, they had accumulated 490 years in which they had not observed even one sabbatical year as a nation.

Now God, in His great sense of humor, told the southern kingdom in 586 B.C. that since they had missed seventy sabbatical years, therefore He would give them those seventy years in slavery.

Therefore, the first administration of the fifth cycle of discipline lasted for seventy years, Lev 26:33-36; 2Chr 36:20-21; cf. Dan 9:2 and Jer 25:11-12, 29:10.

2Ch 36:20 and those who had escaped from the sword he carried away to Babylon; and they were servants to him and to his sons until the rule of the kingdom of Persia,

2Ch 36:21 to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its sabbaths. All the days of its desolation it kept sabbath until seventy years were complete.

So the Jews had to be reminded about the Sabbath.——– JUST LIKE WE DO.

For 6 years they planted as much as they wanted to and operated under the principle of free enterprise but on the 7th year they were to stop.

God said that “If they would stop on the 7th year and make a memorial to grace that grace would provide what they need.

And so when the first 7 year Sabbath came they didn’t observe it, 14 years later they again did not observe it.

“21 years later they again did not observe it, they just “let someone else do.”

For the next 28 years later, they once again did not observe for Sabbath. They went on and on and on until finally in a period of 490 years in Jewish history they had missed 70 sabbath years (70 x 7 = 490).

And so they went out for 70 years of captivity in Chaldea and Persia.

It was to be followed but as usual the Jews rejected that which commemorated the grace of God.

Under the agriculture economy of Israel each 7th year they were to stop all work and live off the profits of the 6 years production.

Point 8 is a very interesting point: The year of Jubilee, Lev 25:8ff.

After forty-nine years (in which there were seven sabbatical years), the fiftieth year was called the year of jubilee; it was a sabbath year also.

Now during the year of Jubilee, all the real estate in the land went back to its original owners, all the businesses went back to their original owners; everything reverted back to how it was in year one.

All slaves were to be freed, and whatever was their portion of land allotted to them by tribe and by the system was given back to them.

This just proves the point of history, that no matter what you have in equal distribution, certain ones will gain most of the pie, and certain ones will again fall into slavery.

It’s all just a matter of time. Or the principle; equality guarantees inequality.

It was a complete shuffle; no one really got hurt by it.

The purpose was again to remind everyone of grace. For after you’ve been a successful businessman for 49 years, it’s very difficult to orient to grace.

And so, He gave them another one…another chance. He gave them what was called the year of jubilee (yobel). Jubilee, the blast.

So we could call this the year of the blast. On the 50th year all the real estate in the land went back or was to be returned to its original owners.

All slaves were to be freed. And, every 50 years they were to start over, Lev 25 talks about the year of Jubilee.

Rejection of the Sabbath concept was total in Israel.

It was totally rejected because they had no doctrine.

It was a “rest ritual” but it was not meaningful unless you had doctrine in the soul to appreciate it.

They blew their Sabbath years, they blew their year of Jubilee when it came out.

And as a result their total rejection of the Sabbath led to grace disorientation.

And here is the principle; they rejected the Sabbath because they rejected doctrine and they rejected grace.

As a result their total rejection of the Sabbath led to a total rejection of grace which caused the Jewish nation to be removed as a nation, not once but twice.

Point 9. Profaning the Sabbath was associated with idolatry and the apostasy of the Jews, Eze 23:36-39.

Point 10. Sabbath violation occurred after the restoration, Neh 13:15-21.

Point 11. The Sabbath is set aside in the church age, Col 2:16-17; Now, the memorial to grace in the church age is not Saturday but Sunday, the first day of the week, 1Co 16:2; Act 20:7.

1Co 16:2 on the first day of every week let each one of you put aside and save, as he may prosper, that no collections be made when I come.

Or in Act 20:7 And on the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul {began} talking to them, intending to depart the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight.

Now, one thing that happened when the Church-age superseded the age of Israel is that Saturday or, the Sabbath, was set aside.

For the Jew Saturday was a time for animal sacrifices.

However, the Jewish age reached its end.

The Jewish age terminated very shortly after that the Church-age began.

Fifty days after the resurrection the Church-age actually began.
Now in the Church-age every believer is a priest and there is no longer a special day.

Because every believer is a priest, and the objective or every believer is to become spiritually self-sustained.

Part 5. Noah and the Nephilim.

Heb 11:7, By means of doctrine resident in the soul, Noah, having been warned about things not yet seen, in reverence constructed a ship for the deliverance of his family, through which he condemned the world.

The word kosmon represents the organized system of the world under the rulership of the devil. Noah turned everything around! He didn’t fight back! He let them judge and gossip about him! He didn’t defend himself. He just stuck with communicating the Word of God doctrine in spite of the opposition. He ignored the whole thing which was designed by Satan to distract Noah from his calling, and instead he just concentrated on the word from God. And God vindicated him and gave him the highest honor any man could have, God spun the whole course of history around Noah.

His respect for God, and being enthusiastic by believing God’s warnings, moved him to construct a ship or what is called an ark, in which he met with the scorns and reproaches of a wicked generation. And in doing so he pleased God as Heb 11:6, And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

The only way you please God is with doctrine resident in the soul and that is what Noah had. And this world has yet to see in full, in modern history, what doctrine in the soul of one person can do much less then in a small group of individuals. You see you don’t have to have a lot of people! You don’t have to have big crowds! And above all, you don’t have to have any kind of popularity. All you have to do is to have doctrine in the soul to please God.

Isa 16:7, for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Heb 11:7, By means of doctrine resident in the soul, Noah, having been warned about things not yet seen, in reverence constructed a ship for the deliverance of his family, through which he condemned the world or the cosmos, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

Bible doctrine gives you the inheritance that God has provided for you for you to become an heir of the righteousness which is based upon the faith…that is the Christian faith. Now, we now need to turn to Gen chapter 6 which describes for us the environment that Noah had to deal with in the antediluvian civilization. In this chapter, there are basically two explanations that interpreters have taken. One is the simplified for the naive and the other is complicated for the serious student of the Word of God. It all revolves around who are the “sons of God and the daughters of men” as mentioned in Gen 6:2.

Those who do not relate to the original languages in their preparation and study of the word take the idea that the “sons of God” refer to the line of Seth and the “daughters of men” refer to the line of Cain. And this is an over simplification of the passage and, as a matter of fact, it is a real great strain to even accept as an interpretation. The reason that it is so acceptable however is because it is the easy way out. To teach a passage under those conditions you don’t have to think and you don’t have to study. However, you also don’t have the answers concerning questions like who are the angels in verses like 2Pe 2:4, For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into Tartarus and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;

Who are these Angels! They cannot be all of the fallen angels because we know that our battle is with Satan and his fallen angels in Eph 6:12 and they are free to walk the face of the earth. And as Jud 1:6 says, And the angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day. What does it mean they “did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode”? And, who are these Angels that God “has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day”? Or 1Pe 3:19, who are the ones mentioned that He [the Lord Jesus Christ] went and made proclamation to the fallen angels in prison now.

So, if you believe that the sons of God are believers and the daughters of men are unbelievers, you are not able to answer the question as to why there are some fallen angels in prison right now when in reality Satan and his angels are “free” to roam this earth as well as in certain areas in Heaven. So, most people have really no idea how to interpret this passage in Gen 6, let’s read it first.

Gen 6:1-8, Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless, his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. And the Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

We begin with a principle which is the fact that anytime you find anyone saying that the “sons of God” are anything else but angels immediately you are looking at someone who does not know the original languages. The big problem is that it is inconceivable for people today for them to think that demons could ever have sex with humans. However, I must remind you that all of this took place before the flood. The fact that creatures can have sex with other species then themselves is not only taught in Jud 1:6 when it says, And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, but it is also taught in other passages as well.

In fact, God even commands humans not to do what these angels did which was to have sex with a lower creation and that’s why we actually have commands in the Bible that forbid having sex with animals, Lev 20:15-16, If there is a man who has sex with an animal, he shall surely be put to death; you shall also kill the animal. If there is a woman who approaches any animal to mate with it, you shall kill the woman and the animal; they shall surely be put to death. Their blood guiltiness is upon them.

By the way that’s a passage that says that the animal is even guilty.

Lev 18:23, Also you shall not have intercourse with any animal to be defiled with it, nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it; it is a perversion.

So, as you can see, having sex with another creation is possible and that is why God forbids it because it is possible. So, we shouldn’t be shocked by the idea that angels could have sex with humans. Now, in Gen 6:1, Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.

So, the expression “daughters of men” includes the daughters of Seth as well as the daughters of Cain, hence the expression “sons of God” must mean beings different from the human race. The daughters of Cain and the daughters of Seth are daughters of humans, Seth representing the believers, Cain representing the unbeliever…but they are all human.

Now, the title “sons of God” does not have the same meaning in the Old Testament that it has in the New. In the New Testament it applies to those who have become the “sons of God” by the new birth. Rom 8:14, For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Rom 8:19, For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.

However, in the O.T. the phrase the “sons of God” applies to the angels and everytime it’s used it refers to angels. It is so used six times, twice in Genesis, Gen 6:2-4, three times in Job, Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:7, and once in Dan 3:25. Here in Gen 6:2, that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful;

Then in Gen 6:4, The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them.

Then look at Job 1:6, Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.

Job 2:1, Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the Lord.

Then we have the lord indicting Job as to where he was when God laid foundation of the earth in Job 38:4, “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding,

Job 38:5-7, Who set its measurements, since you know? Or who stretched the line on it? On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

The phrase “beni ha Elohim” is translated the “sons of God” and it denotes a being brought into existence by a creative act of God. It is only used for angels in the Bible. In Dan 3:25, King Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, “Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!”

The point is that the phrase used in Gen 6, in Job and in Daniel all referred to angels never humans. Such were the angels and such was Adam, and he is so called in Luke 3:38 Adam is the son of God because he was not born but was created like the angels by the hand of God. For example: Describing the messianic line in Luke’s gospel, Luke writes in Luke 3:23, And when He began His ministry, Jesus Himself was about thirty years of age, being supposedly {the} son of Joseph, the {son} of Eli, Down to verse 36, Luke 3:36-38, the {son} of Cainan, the {son} of Arphaxad, the {son} of Shem, the {son} of Noah, the {son} of Lamech, the {son} of Methuselah, the {son} of Enoch, the {son} of Jared, the {son} of Mahalaleel, the {son} of Cainan, the {son} of Enosh, the {son} of Seth, the {son} of Adam, the {son} of God.

Note that Adam was called a “son of God”, why? Because he came from the created hand of God. Angels are called “sons of God” because they were created by God, Psa 148:2,5 Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all his hosts! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created. And we are called “sons of God” because we in Christ 2Co 5:17, Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature;

So, Adam’s natural descendants are not the creation of God. Adam was created in the “likeness of God”, Gen 5:1, but his descendants were born in his likeness, for we read in Gen 5:3 that Adam “became the father of a son in his own likeness, after his image.”

Gen 5:1, This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.

Gen 5:3, When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth.

Therefore, all men born of Adam and his descendants by natural generation are the “sons of men” and it is only by being “born again” which is a “New Creation” that they can become the “sons of God” in the New Testament sense. Now the “Sons of God” of Gen 6:2, 4, could not be the “sons of Seth,” as some claim, because the “sons of Seth” were only men, and could only be called “sons of men,” not “sons of God.” And this proves beyond question that the “sons of God” in Gen 6:2,4, were ANGELS, and not godly descendants of Seth. Objections are raised concerning this point by noting what our Lord said about the resurrection of humans that they are like the angels in Luke 20:35-36, that they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; Therefore they say that the angels are “sexless” and therefore cannot cohabit either with themselves or human beings.

However, while the passage implies that the angels “do not marry” it does not say that they are “sexless” for that would convey the idea that at the resurrection all believers will also be sexless, a doctrine that is contrary to the belief that husbands and wives and brothers and sisters shall know each other “as such” in the eternal state. They will know each other as males and females! What the passage does teach is that angels do not multiply by procreation. Millions of angels were created all at once and because they never die there is no necessity for reproduction among them. Also, these angels were condemned for some particular sin, as Jud 7 teaches which is the fact that they went after or fornicated with “strange flesh.”

It was the sin of “fornication and going after strange flesh”, as Jud 7 teaches and the “time” of the sin is given as just before the flood. 2Pe 2:5. It is the same sin that caused the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, whose citizens demanded that Lot surrender the two angels that he had received into his home that they might “know them” which refers to having sex with them in 2Pe 2:6-8, Jud 7, Gen 19:5. Another argument for the support of this view is the fact that the progeny of this union between the “sons of God” and the “daughters of men was a race of giants, “mighty men, “men of renown.”

Gen 6:4, The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

And this is where Greek mythology came from which is really not mythology at all but fact! Now, think of it, to say that the sons of God were godly people and they married the daughters of men who were carnal women and then they had super-kids is ridiculous. There have never been such “monstrosities” as the offspring of the “sons of God” and the “daughters of men” since Noah’s day. The word Nephilim means the “Fallen Ones,” or “giants”.

It is clear that those “mighty men” and “men of renown,” were not the ordinary offspring of the daughters of men, or else why didn’t they appear before or even again? The “sons of Seth” and the “daughters of Cain” had undoubtedly inter-married before this, but there were no such children born to them. Now, in this irruption of angelic beings into the world of men we have the source or Greek mythology where historians obtained their notions concerning the loves of the gods and demi-gods, and the legends of being’s half-human and half-divine. And what I want you see is the tremendous obstacles Noah had to overcome.

The characteristics of the “antediluvian dispensation,” as out¬lined by the late Dr. A. T. Pierson, were, “First, an advance in fulness and clearness of revelation; Then gradual spirit declension then conformity to the world, ending with mixture with the world; then a gigantic civilization, brilliant but godless; then parallel development of evil and good; then an ‘apostasy,’ and finally a catastrophe.” That my friends is real trouble.

So Gen 6 talks about the “sons of God” with the Hebrew phrase “beni ha elohim” who are fallen angels under Satan and as we will see it should be translated “sons of the gods.” They were able to appear with angelic bodies to the women of the antediluvian civilization. A civilization already corrupted by worship of the Olympian pantheon of false Gods. Olympia was a region in ancient Greek noted for the worship of many gods especially Zeus.

So, these angels at that time of Gen 6, had sexual capabilities and cohabited with the women of that era producing a mutated race called Nephilim. These were the Herculean “heroes” and “giants” and famous half angel, half man types described briefly in the Genesis account. And this whole plan was an attack by Satan to try and destroy true humanity on earth so that Jesus Christ could not be truly human. And in the midst of this type of wild and evil environment is a man called Noah, going forward with the plan of God in spite of all the opposition and distraction. Satan’s genetic attack appeared to be totally successful but for one glitch. The glitch in Satan’s plan was the divine preservation of eight people, Noah and his wife and their three sons and wives who were the last remains of uncorrupted humanity.

Again, Peter tells us all about it.

1Pe 3:18-22, For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison, who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water. And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.

Hymn #1

Point 7 (out of 15 major points) in the doctrine of the Sabbath which is what is known as The Sabbatical Year of Israel, Exo 23:10-11; Lev 25:3-4, Lev 26:33-37.

Notice for six years they were to sow the land and then gather its production or that which the land produced and then bless themselves as well as their family and friends.

Then look att Deut 14:26 “And you may spend the money for whatever your heart desires, for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires;

and there you shall eat in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household.

We noted last week that the Hebrew word fallow is used to cultivate land that is allowed to lie idle during the growing season so that it may grow and yield even more production after it grows.

As stated in Matt 5:45 for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Every seven years, the Jews were supposed to stop work.

Prin-If they had been functioning properly under supergrace, then this was really a year’s vacation in which they didn’t have to work.

Having followed so well the laws of divine establishment, and having functioned under the P.M.A. of B.D., they now took a break on the seventh year to exercise their capacity for life.

So they did not work for a full year without any detriment to them.

Now it is very interesting that the failure of the Jews to observe the sabbatical year was the basis for determining how long they would stay out under the fifth cycle of discipline.

Therefore, the first administration of the fifth cycle of discipline lasted for seventy years, Lev 26:33-36; 2Ch 36:20-21; Dan 9:2; Jer 25:11-12.

Or look at Jer 25:11 ‘and this whole land shall be a desolation and a horror, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

Jer 25:12 ‘Then it will be when seventy years are completed I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation,’ declares the Lord, ‘for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it an everlasting desolation.

OR WHAT ABOUT Jer 29:10 “For thus says the Lord, ‘when seventy years have been completed for Babylon, I will visit you and fulfill My good word to you, to bring you back to this place.

So the Jews had to be reminded about the Sabbath.——– JUST LIKE WE DO.

For 6 years they planted as much as they wanted to and operated under the principle of free enterprise.

God said that if they would stop on the 7th year and make a memorial to grace that grace would provide what they need.

They completely rationalized the 7th year Sabbath away.

And so when the first 7 year Sabbath came they didn’t observe it, 14 years later they again did not observe it.

“21 years later they again did not observe it, they just “let someone else do.”

For the next 28 years later they once again did not observe for Sabbath. They went on and on and on until finally in a period of 490 years in Jewish history they had missed 70 sabbath years (70 x 7 = 490).

So God said “Alright, you don’t want to rest when I tell you to…so I will give you rest. This is the principle of Isa 29:24; and those who err in mind will know the truth, and those who criticize will accept instruction.

And so they went out for 70 years of captivity in Chaldea and Persia.

It was to be followed but as usual the Jews rejected that which commemorated the grace of God.

Under the agriculture economy of Israel each 7th year they were to stop all work and live off the profits of the 6 years production.

Point 8 is a very interesting point which goes with Point 7: The year of Jubilee, Lev 25:8ff.

The purpose was again to remind everyone of grace. For after you’ve been a successful businessman for 49 years, it’s very difficult to orient to grace.

And so He gave them another one…another chance.

There is a new day for the Church-age believer to set aside. For the Jew Saturday was a time for animal sacrifices.

The Jewish age terminated very shortly after that the Church-age began.
Fifty days after the resurrection the Church-age actually began. Now in the Church-age every believer is a priest and there is no longer a special day.

Because every believer is a priest, and the objective or every believer is to become spiritually self sustained.

Now, there were a couple of feasts that the Jews had that really bothered them.

On the first Sunday and IT WAS ALWAYS always on A Sunday, they had what is known as the feast of the first-fruits and that use to really bother them.

Prov 3:9 Honor the Lord from your wealth, and from the first of all your produce;

Prov 3:10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.

Point 12. Now the feast of the first fruits was always on Sunday.

There is one thing that the Jews couldn’t stand and that was to have a Sunday Sabbath also known as a double-Sabbath.

50 days from that Sunday there was another day which also bothered them because 50 days from that Sunday.

TLJC was resurrected on a Sunday, and Sunday, 50 days after His resurrection the Church-age began.

So, there had to be a day when assembly worship was authorized. And, all are to come together, and for the Church it is Sunday.

Sunday is the Resurrected Day! Sunday is what we call the Lord’s Day! The Jews always had to have a 7th day! For Christians it’s the first day.

Point 13. Therefore, the principle, the Sabbath is not for Christians.

The Sabbath is interrupted even as the age of Israel is interrupted. This is taught in Col 2:16-17.

Point 14. Principle, the Sabbath is set aside in the Church-age. In Col 2:16-17 and the entire book of Galatians teaches this principle. In the Church-age, we start all over.

On the day of Pentecost, the first day of the week, on a Sunday, God the H.S. took all the believers who were alive in Jerusalem and entered them into union with Christ.

This means that all believers in the Church-age are in Christ and in union with Christ.

Psa 138:2 For thou hast magnified thy word according to all Thy name.

The R.S.V. says….For you have exalted above everything thy name and Thy word.

Therefore, God halted the age of Israel until the Rapture of the Church-age and then there are 7 more years in the age of Israel called the Tribulation.

Point 15. Moment-by-moment Sabbath for the Church-age.

This is the principle by which the believer enters into the supergrace life. So your moment-by-moment sabbath means your spiritual advance, and your annual sabbatical is comparable to the supergrace life.

21. Abraham, Rom 4:17-21.

Rom 4:19 and without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb;

Rom 4:20 yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,

14. Moses at the Red sea, Exo 14:10-14. Exo 14:10 And as Pharaoh drew near, the sons of Israel looked, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they became very frightened; so the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord.

Exo 14:11 then they said to Moses, “is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us in this way, bringing us out of Egypt?

22. The bones of Joseph, Heb 11:22. Heb 11:22 by faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the Exodus of the sons of Israel, and gave orders concerning his bones.

23. Caleb and the giants, Num 13-14 cf. Josh 14:6-14; 15:14; Judges 1:20.

Part 4.
Dispensation of Conscience.
The mystery behind the Noahic genealogy.

We have now come to one of the visible heroes of this dispensation who is a man called Noah. Noah was one of the greatest witnesses for the Lord in the midst of angelic conflict of the Old Testament that he is mentioned with and Daniel and Job. In fact, the prophet Ezekiel identified three men as one of the greatest believers of all time in Eze 14:12-14. For when the nation of Israel and the Jews had gone so apostate and were about to destroyed by God, that the prophet Ezekiel wrote concerning the client nation in Eze 14:12-14, Then the word of the Lord came to me saying, “Son of man, if a country sins against Me by committing unfaithfulness, and I stretch out My hand against it, destroy its supply of bread, send famine against it, and cut off from it both man and beast, even though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only deliver themselves, declares the Lord God.”

In other words, even if these three were a part of the pivot, the nation could still not been spared, though they would have been. This means that God is declaring Noah, Daniel and Job as mature winner believers and that in times of the fifth cycle of discipline when God destroys a nation that they would only be able to deliver themselves. However, that is not our subject, what I want you to see is what type of believer Noah was known as…this was his eulogy, as it were. To be put into the same category as Job and Daniel, one a Gentile, the other a Jew, is a great compliment to Noah!

So, we need to take a look at Noah’s place in the dispensation of the conscience. The first 500 years of his life are passed off in silence. We assume that during that time he was going back and forth and never reaching the objective of spiritual maturity and super-grace. During that time he reached different stages of spiritual growth only to be pushed back and lose the advantage. The apostle John warned us of this in 2Jo 1:8, Watch yourselves, that you might not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.

So after 500 years of going back and forth, all of a sudden dramatically Noah and his three sons are mentioned in Gen 5:32; Gen 6:9-10. Gen 5:32, And Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Then in Gen 6:9-10, These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God. And Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Noah is mentioned in such a way as to indicate that the last 450 years of his life were years of spiritual maturity and super-grace. Now, the name Noah means rest or relief. And the line of descent from Adam to Noah was as follows: Adam, Seth, Enosh, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared. Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, and Noah. By the way, all these individuals were direct descendants of the Lord Jesus Christ. And you have seen the importance of this before but let mention it again. Ten represents the number of completion of the divine order.

Gen 5, God the Holy Spirit who is the author of divine inspiration gives us the genealogy from Adam to Noah! Our problem is that it is not translated, it is transliterated! Translation means to describe or interpret the word whereas transliteration is the conversion of a text from one language to another. And all of these Hebrew names are special significance when you interpret what they mean and Noah is a vital part of this illustration.

Let’s take a look at what the names mean in the original language.

Gen 5:1, This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.

Adam is pretty easy to define, most of you know that his name means man.

Adam = man

Gen 5:3, When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth.

What does Seth mean?

Well, we get a clue of what it means in Gen 4:25, And Adam had relations with his wife again; and she gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, for, she said, “God has appointed me another offspring in place of Abel; for Cain killed him.”
Eve felt that Seth was appointed to be a replacement for Abel who was murdered by Cain. So she named him Seth and his name means appointed!

So, we have:
Adam = man
Seth = appointed

Gen 5:6, And Seth lived one hundred and five years, and became the father of Enosh.

Enosh, according to the Biblical Library means human.

Gen 5:9, And Enosh lived ninety years, and became the father of Kenan.

Kenan means a curse referring to man’s curse of having to work etc.

Adam = man
Seth = appointed
Enosh = human
Kenan = curse

Gen 5:12, And Kenan lived seventy years, and became the father of Mahalalel.

Now, the word “el” you recognize as the name of God. The Hebrews put the name of God in their names like Daniel, Bethel, etc. Mahalalel means “the blessed God” says Gesenius a Hebrew scholar.

Gen 5:15, And Mahalalel lived sixty five years, and became the father of Jared.

Jared is a verb meaning “shall come down.”

Adam = man
Seth = appointed
Enosh = human
Kenan = curse
Mahalalel = The blessed God.
Jared = shall come down

Gen 5:18, And Jared lived one hundred and sixty two years, and became the father of Enoch.

Enoch means to consecrate one self.

Gen 5:21, And Enoch lived sixty five years, and became the father of Methuselah.

It’s interesting to note that Methuselah lived longer than anyone in all of human history, 969 years, probably because of blessing by association to his father Enoch. Methuselah died the year that the flood occurred and as we noted in the past, his death was a warning that this was the year of the flood. Enoch was told as long as his son was alive, the flood would be withheld! So Enoch, who was a prophet, named his son Methuwshelach translated Methuselah and his name means “his death shall bring.” Methu means to die. Shelach means to bring. So when he died the flood was brought forth or sent. Now, you ladies are probably thinking it must have been tough to bring up that kid because every time he caught a cold the neighborhood would go into panic!

Methuselah’s name means “his death shall bring.”

Adam = man
Seth = appointed
Enosh = human
Kenan = curse
Mahalalel = the blessed God.
Jared = shall come down
Enoch = to consecrate oneself.
Methuselah = “his death shall bring”

Gen 5:25, And Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty seven years, and became the father of Lamech.

Lamech = conquering

Gen 5:28-9, And Lamech lived one hundred and eighty two years, and became the father of a son. Now he called his name Noah, saying, “This one shall give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands arising from the ground which the Lord has cursed.”

Just as this verse says, Noah’s name means rest. So here is a chart of the description of the names God the Holy Spirit inspired Moses to write.

Adam = man
Seth = appointed
Enosh = human
Kenan = curse
Mahalalel = the blessed God.
Jared = shall come down
Enoch = to consecrate oneself.
Methuselah = “his death shall bring”
Lamech = conquering
Noah = rest

Man is appointed a human curse. The blessed God shall come down to consecrate himself. His death shall bring conquering rest.

So we have just gone through quickly ten names, the number of completion in the Bible, and these ten names mean something very precisely in the original language. Now, I picked this passage for few reasons. First of all, there’s no way that you could ever convince me that a group of Jewish Rabbi’s would have contrive to hide the Christian Gospel in a genealogy of the Torah. Remember the Jews do not believe in the New Testament and the Christian Gospel.

Secondly, this passage also points out the importance of going back to the original language and discovering what was really said.

And thirdly, I think this is another passage that reveals the integrity of the Bible and the fact that this book was divinely inspired by God!

This is why we go back to the original language to see what the Bible really has to say!

Noah lived at a time when the whole earth was filled with violence and corruption. Yet, what made Noah great is that Noah did not allow the evil standards of his day to rob him of His relationship and fellowship with God. For we read in Gen 6:11-13, Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth. Then God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth.

He stood out as the only one who “walked with God” at that time in Gen 6:9, as was true of his great grandfather Enoch. However, to really get a short synopsis of Noah’s life we need to go to Heb 11:7, By faith or by means of doctrine, Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

As we noted on Friday the verb for “being warned” means to be divinely instructed doctrine. It took many teachings and warnings to prepare Noah for what the Lord was about to do. Noah received the doctrine, believed it and then applied it, so that he became spiritually mature from the divine warnings from God concerning the future. And one of the most overlooked functions of Noah’s life is that he had to go against the majority and appear to be a fool for our Lord’s sake.

Noah teaches us that when you have doctrine in the soul, you can take the proper action, even though you are in the minority. Even though people say that you are crazy, Noah was in the minority. We know that from certain passages of scripture like Gen 6:5, Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Heb 11:7, By means of doctrine resident in the soul, Noah, having been warned about things not yet seen,

The phrase “not yet seen” is the Greek word blepo which refers to being warned about things that have not yet occurred in human history. In fact, they were things that had never occurred in history before. Do you realize that it never rained before the flood? Rain began at the flood. Not only that, but most scholars believe that there were not even boats before the flood. And so as a super-grace believer, Noah received doctrinal information about the termination of the antediluvian (before the flood) civilization.

Heb 11:7, By means of doctrine resident in the soul, Noah, having been warned about things not yet seen [the future of human history], in reverence [having been motivated by reverence or his respect toward God] constructed an ark for the salvation of his household,

It took Noah 120 years to build this ship. One day sitting up on dry land was a completed construction, a ship designed for water. Noah was motivated by the doctrine in his soul to build the ship. The word for ark is kiboton which refers to an ark, a wooden chest, or a ship.

The seven members of his family were all delivered by the building of the ship by Noah. And this is blessing by association to the super-grace believer. Some of you will never reach super-grace or spiritual maturity and so the best thing for you to do is to hook up with a mature believer and get blessing by association. In fact, that’s the only way that some believers ever get happiness as believers, association with a spiritually mature believer. In Noah’s family, the other seven were not spiritually mature. Noah’s wife was not spiritually mature. Noah’s sons were not in super-grace but Noah was and there is the principle of blessing by association. Super-grace blessing is the means of blessing those in the periphery who are not super-grace types. And in some cases, not even saved.

And he did all of this in view of the strongest possible human opposition as well as Satanic, with the Nephilim on the earth. Remember that these were the days of rampant visible demonism, half-human, half angelic creatures as well as evil vile humanity, and all of these beings were in opposition to Noah.
