Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word

Before we begin, only if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is; you have believed [trusted] in Him for His promised gift of eternal life) John 3:16, John 6:47 as a few examples; it is very important to prepare yourself to learn God's Word so the Holy Spirit can teach you as to what your reading or hearing is true or false. To be taught by the Holy Spirit you must be filled with the Holy Spirit which means abiding in Christ. To place yourself in fellowship with God the Holy Spirit [also called abiding in the Christ], take a moment to simply name, cite or acknowledge [confess] your known unconfessed sins privately to God (i.e.; with your thoughts directed only to God the Father). Why? Because you cannot grow spiritually if you’re not abiding in Christ [in fellowship with Him] when you take in bible truth.

1 John 1:9, says: “If we confess [meaning to simply name, cite or acknowledge to God the Father] our sins [known unconfessed sins], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins [known sins] and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [all unknown and forgotten sins];” NKJV (New King James Version); we call this REBOUND; read the full doctrine as to “why” we need to use 1 John 1:9 to grow spiritually. Left click the following link to learn more and fully understand the doctrine of Rebound; which answers the question, why do I need to keep confessing my sins all the time? REBOUND

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins; the issue for you is to simply exercise faith alone in Jesus Christ alone eternal life; when you do, you will instantly receive Eternal Life: John 3:16, 5:24, 6:47, 20:30, 31.

John 6:47 says: "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life." NKJV

Notice again what Jesus said in John 6:47: "…he who believes in Me (Jesus Christ) has everlasting life." It doesn't say, "will have"; it says, "has." Therefore, the very moment you believe in Jesus Christ for His promise of everlasting life, you have it (it's really just that simple; nothing more and nothing less), and it can never be taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift (Ephesians 2:8c) of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-15, 16, 17, 18, says: "14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for worship and learning God's Word. If there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

Study to show yourself approved to God!

Negative volition also refers to the believer who takes in doctrine until he reaches maturity but reacts to disillusion, boredom, discouragement, self-pity, frustration, or some other reactor factors in his soul, which becomes an obsession.

Saul’s reactor factor in his life was his jealousy of David.

He wound up under reverse process reversionism and the sin unto death.

Negative emotionalism describes the believer who becomes negative to doctrine.

In his emotional revolt, he uses his emotion as the criterion or the standard for everything.

Satan administers his authority by means of a great invisible host of fallen angels known as demons. In Rev 12:4, Satan convinced one-third of the angels in heaven to follow him in his rebellion against God.

Satan specializes in unseen or invisible attacks.

It is when a demon possesses a man that some obvious evil comes into the picture. Ever since Gen 6, when demons had sexual intercourse with the women on the earth, certain fallen angels have been placed in a prison, 2Pe 2:4; Jude 6.

Demon influence and-or demon possession is now the order of the day. However, free will involvement is the only way demons can operate.

The witch of Endor lived a long, long time ago in a land when human sacrifice was offered up to idols. Only a weirdo would follow such a weird god.

1. Demon possession does not always mean abnormal behavior.

2. God ordained capital punishment for anyone who was demon possessed in Israel, Lev 20:27.

3. Demons are also the gods of many nations, Psa 96:5.

4. Demonism is also the source of murder.

Satan has the power of death which he has delegated to demons when permitted to do so, 1Jo 3:8; Heb 2:14-15.

Job had 10 children (7 sons and 3 daughters) and Satan had them killed by demons, Job 1:12-19. It was some demon under Satan’s command that motivated Cain to kill Abel, 1Jo 3:12; Jn 8:44. Satan was also given the opportunity of executing the sin unto death to a born-again believer in Corinth, 1Co 5:5.

We have the thorn in the flesh, 2Co 12:7, the skin cancer that came to Job in Job 2:6-8. Many other diseases like deafness, dumbness, blindness.

Here we have a case of the obh or the ventriloquist demon. A trance means the woman has lost consciousness and the demon now speaks using the vocal chords of the unconscious person.

The dead really came back from the dead. At the end of this chapter the witch of Endor ends up being the woman of Endor.

In the battle of Giboea which was about to take place, Saul will be outsmarted and out-thought by King Achish.

He once had the Spirit of God upon him mightily, 1Sa 11:6.

He was also very humble says 1Sa 9:21.

The Lord anointed him king over Israel, 1Sa 15:17.

In 2Sa 21:6, Saul was the chosen one of the Lord.

A believer minus doctrine is dumber than an unbeliever.

1. He can stay a backslider or reversionist until he dies the sin unto death.

2. He can rebound and recover (as David did).

You can reap what you sow or you can reap what God sows.

Nebuchadnezzar - the disease he received from jealousy, lycanthrope disease, is acting like a wolf or an animal.

He either uses words as a smoke screen or silence. In life, people are going to tell you one thing and mean something entirely different.

What has happened to Saul in reversionism explains why many believers begin with doctrine as Saul did, sound, conservative, courageous, but they give lip service to doctrine and reversionism always changes these people.

Life is something that continually changes. We not only undergo physical changes as we stay in this world, we also undergo mental and spiritual changes.

Whether you like it or not, you are in a constant state of change. The importance of things can be measured by how much time we are willing to invest in them.

The key to change is to let go of fear. The only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself.

If we don’t change our direction we’re likely to end up where we’re headed. - Chinese Proverb

We must change if things are to get better.

No believer ever enters into a reversionism or a backslidden state without first destroying himself and then everyone connected with him.

People play a little game sometimes called, “Who’s not here?”

Gal 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, take care lest you be consumed by one another.

The priests would communicate the written word, and Samuel and the prophets would communicate the spoken word through revelation.

Samuel wrote 1Sa and 2Sa; after his death the prophets Nathan and Gad finished out the parts of Samuel that Samuel did not finish; 1Ch 29:29 tells us that.

Death meant to Samuel that his work was finished; he was a prophet and a priest.

Internet Church Service – October 2, 2022; Self-pity assuming no-one loves you and you feel left out and depressed. 1KI 19:3-4.

We continue with our eighteenth “Defense Mechanism” which is: 18) Sublimation, which is the human viewpoint thinking of finding a new outlet, a new hobby, a new system of entertainment, etc., as a new drive or outlet for one's frustration.

This defense mechanism is employed in the place of dealing with one's problems when a believer fills in his time because he has lost his interest in something he used to desire.

The key word here is always something "NEW". It’s always something new that the individual searches for.

PSD [Problem Solving Device] #6, A personal sense of destiny, PSD #9, +H or sharing the happiness of God would solve this problem.

19) Subjectivity is the defense mechanism which involves self-pity in that you assume no-one loves you and you feel left out and depressed, for example, Elijah in 1Ki 19:3-4. This type of believer has no capacity for life, love and happiness and so sublimates by becoming a slave to some detail of life, thereby ending up a loser. They're always feeling sorry for themselves and feel like the weight of the world is upon their shoulders. If a person loves God he will have impersonal unconditional love toward mankind.

Look at 1Jo 4:20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. Note the second half of verse 20, for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. Your attitude toward people whom you see indicates your attitude toward God whom you cannot see. If you hate those who are visible, how can you say you love God who is invisible.

1Jo 4:21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

Commandment is the noun entole, entole is an authoritative prescription; an order and command from headquarters, or a divine prescription. And what is this command?

1Jo 4:21...that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

The one who loves God is a reference to the believer who lives in the divine plan designed for him in eternity past by God.

Let’s look at the evidences of spiritual self-esteem.

Tranquility of soul. You begin to relax in your soul.

1. 2Co 13:11 Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be likeminded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

2. Stability of mental attitude, including never feeling threatened by others and avoiding inordinate ambition and competition.

3. Composure marked by self-assurance, which is the correct and accurate application of doctrine to life.

4. Grace-orientation to life which includes giving others the benefit of the doubt.

5. Doctrinal-orientation to reality, which is based upon genuine humility, objectivity, teachability, and spiritual common sense.

6. Good decisions from a position of strength, which includes motivation from personal love for God the Father plus divine viewpoint thinking.

7. Personal control of your life through doctrinal conceptualism. Conceptualism refers to thoughts formed in the mind.

8. A personal sense of destiny, which includes solving the problems related to God, self, others, and things.

9. Self-confidence from wisdom, which means the function of the application of metabolized doctrine to experience.

10. Poise. This is the believer under spiritual self-command.

He is a winner who overcomes self; Pr 19:8 He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good. The believer who has spiritual self-esteem demands avoidance of self-pity or any function which arouses pity from others.

Satan loves to get believers to be self-centered because it takes them away from occupation with the Lord and leads them to frustration and self-pity. And when people get into self-pity, what usually follows is that they become hypersensitive and easily wounded. And self-pity only intensifies any problem. Self-pity removes you from any possibility of a solution because as long as you are occupied with self, there is absolutely no solution to any problem in life. And the thing is that the person in self-pity has put themselves in that stage and only the same volition can bring them out of self-pity. Self-pity also leads to a false sense of self-importance.

No one ever felt sorry for himself without arrogance also added to it. People who are full of self-pity and seem to be humble and broken are, in reality, very much stuck on themselves and very arrogant. In fact, one of the most subtle forms of pride is the pride that comes to the individual when he's feeling sorry for himself. Self-pity is bad enough because it is self-induced and therefore stupid, but in addition to that self-pity is very very painful. Self-pity intensifies any problem. Self-pity also removes you from any possibility of a solution. And as long as you are occupied with self there is absolutely no solution to any problem in life.

For those in a state of self-pity there is no hope, no comfort, no doctrine, nothing that would ever help them. And self-pity is never broken by sweetness and feeling sorry, self-pity is merely increased by sweetness. The point is that you can take the disadvantages of your life and turn them into advantages by allowing them to make you stronger, to go up against the odds and become not only a winner in life but a winner in the spiritual life with God.

I want to ask you some questions. What is your unjust disadvantage? I don't mean little petty irritations that happened this past week.

What is your unjust disadvantage? Maybe you even have more than one. Here's another question, and I want to spend a little time on an illustration. When do you plan to replace passive self-pity with active courage? When do you plan to replace passive self-pity, you know, "Woe is me", with active courage? I read a story years ago that I would like to repeat.

Tom Sullivan addressed five thousand men and women in Dallas as he spoke to the prestigious million dollar round table of the insurance companies around the world. Men and women were up and down in their seats applauding, expressing their gratitude to Mr. Sullivan for his talk. Let me tell you a little bit about Mr. Sullivan. You may have seen on the Good Morning America program. He's had guest appearances on MASH and fame! He is a world class athlete, holds two national championship records in wrestling! He was on the 1958 Olympic wresting team! He earned a degree at Harvard in clinical psychology! He's a musician! He's an author! He's a sports enthusiast! AND He's blind!

Tom Sullivan was the one whose autobiography was put into the film.... "If You Could See What I Hear. Whose one message was; "You've got a disadvantage take advantage of it!" He said, "People don't buy similarity, they buy differences!" That's a great line! That disadvantage is what makes you different. That ability to overcome that great obstacle makes you stronger. The similarities are like everybody else!

He tells about the first time that he realized he was blind, he was eight years old, (that's what you call the parents doing a good job). He was in the back yard and he heard a ball game going on down the street and he heard the ball and realized that they were playing a game. So, he got a transistor radio and walked about ten feet away and played it and then through the ball where the noise was. And then he went 15 feet, and then 20 feet, until finally he told his dad, "I want to play baseball!" Dad said, "Oh really, well, what position would you like to play?" And he said, "I want to be a pitcher!"

So, the father talked the little league into trying him out and they gave him a kid to stand by him to catch the ball after the catcher through it back. I mean it's an amazing story. Here's a guy who was blind and he wouldn't even of had an audience if he had sight. But it's the blindness that makes you listen. He says, "When you run all you do is see, when I run I hear 50 different kinds of birds in the air, I smell what people are having for breakfast!" "If you could see what I hear!"

The point is when do you plan to replace self-pity with that kind of courage. Sullivan said, "I determined that my lot in life is blindness, I will therefore become as a blind person all that I could possibly be!" It's time for some of you to hear this. You've been hiding in the swamp of self-pity long enough. Complaining about the ways thing are. And you're drowning. And many times you're sucking other people under with you. You're the most miserable pessimistic kind of person to be around when your faced with your disadvantaged situation. So what if you're ugly, you can be smart. Some of you just need to ask God to help you to be the person your dog thinks you are.

So, when do you plan to replace passive self-pity with active courage? Here's another question, Have you ever considered the impact your disadvantage would have on the world around you? If you could ever get out of the disadvantage mind-set long enough to view how that God can use that in the life of thousands who have their disadvantages....it would blow your mind.

It's amazing! The Lord can use your disadvantage, be it physical, emotional, mental, financial, or anything else, to positively impact the lives of others. The only thing that stands in the way is your attitude. The question is "Are you willing to change it today?" As long as you're alive, it's never too late! Your life can have an impact that you will never really see the fulfillment of until you get to heaven. Don't let the injustices of life, the unfairness or the disadvantages get the best of you....you get the best of them by making something out of your life with God.

And I know you've heard it so many times before but please bear with me as a I remind you of those two favorite scriptures of mine concerning unjust and unfair treatment. God can take any type of evil situation and convert it into divine good as Joseph did when he said to his brothers who had betrayed him in Gen 50:20, and as for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good. Or in Deut 23:5 the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you because the Lord your God loves you. Now, in many cases, people do not cultivate friendships and companions so when they go through something no one really knows. And that's why many people turn to self-pity and say to themselves, "If only others realized how difficult things are". Now, without sounding insensitive, let me say that there are a few things that poison relationships, such as self-pity.

Self-pity is the one attention getter that soon wears out the other person's attention. If you haven't drawn certain people into your life, don't blame them if they're not there when calamity strikes. Furthermore, feeling sorry for yourself won't get you out of it. You see, we believe in spiritual autonomy or spiritual independence. We believe that a person should become spiritually self-sustained. Now, we are going to look at such a believer and what happens when a child of God is overcome by self-pity.

Now, 1Ki 19 has an application to us even though it is a different dispensation. Elijah was not indwelt by the Spirit as we are, however, in 2Ki 2:9 the Spirit was upon him. Now, in 1Ki 19:1, we begin with the fact that Elijah has just led a great revival in Israel and someone has become very angry that this revival has taken place. 450 prophets were slain and someone is very angry. She's a woman whose name most of you are familiar with, a woman called Jezebel. She was the wife of Ahab, king of Israel. She was a tyrant who corrupted her husband, as well as the nation, by promoting pagan worship. As the queen, she soon became the power behind the throne. Obedient to her wishes, Ahab erected a sanctuary for Baal and supported hundreds of pagan prophets, 1Ki 18:19. Look at 1Ki 18:19 "Now then send and gather to me all Israel at Mount Carmel, together with 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table."

When the prophets of Jehovah opposed Jezebel, she had them massacred, 1Ki 18:4,13. 1Ki 18:4 for it came about, when Jezebel destroyed the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah took a hundred prophets and hid them by fifties in a cave, and provided them with bread and water.)

Or in 1KI 18:13 "Has it not been told to my master what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the Lord, that I hid a hundred prophets of the Lord by fifties in a cave, and provided them with bread and water? However, under the principle that you reap what you sow, in fulfillment of the prediction of the prophet Elijah, Jezebel was trampled by the horses and eaten by the dogs, 1Ki 21:19. Only Jezebel's skull, feet, and the palms of her hands were left to bury when the dogs were finished. We begin in 1KI 19:1 Now Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. Now, Ahab is just a figure head, he's the king but his wife wears the pants. Ahab doesn't have to much to say about what happens, Jezebel does. And so Ahab had told Jezebel all that Elijah had done.

And she's very angry knowing Elijah is responsible for killing her 450 prophets. Now she finally settles down emotionally and realizes that you can't kill a man to destroy a revival, you must discredit him. Jezebel's action was the typical anger which in turn was followed by the plotting and the thinking of how to get rid of Elijah. So in verse 2, Jezebel uses her feminine deceitfulness to plot against Elijah.

1Ki 19:2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time."

In other words, she gives him 24 hours to get out of town and subtly she develops a scheme. However, note that in verse 2 she sent a messenger not an assassin but a letter carrier. A letter from a woman can be just as destructive as a knife. So she has decided to threaten him or to frighten him from his ministry to the Lord. And she tries to start panic in his soul so that he'll run away and his fruit will be spoiled and the revival will stop. Now, remember that Elijah has just enjoyed a spiritual victory. However, a believer is most vulnerable to failure after a great spiritual victory. Let's look at this spiritual giant in verse 3.

1Ki 19:3 And he was afraid [this is when he read the letter] and arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. Arose is the Hebrew verb quwm meaning that he got all roused up, he's getting emotional and he has no spiritual self-esteem in this situation. And so verse 3 says that he ran for his life. He's afraid and what does fear do?

Fear keeps people from thinking properly. His faith-rest was turned off immediately through fear and he has no spiritual self-esteem. The Old Testament saints also had their own system of spiritual self-esteem according to Pr 19:8. Pr 19:8 is a verse that talks about wisdom and spiritual self-esteem; He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good. So, his faith-rest was turned off immediately through fear and he has no spiritual self-esteem. In fact, fear is actually a greater weapon than the object that you fear. Therefore, as a result of fear and no spiritual self-esteem in this situation, he begins to run away and he wants to quit.

And notice that it says 1Ki 19:3, he left his servant there. In fact, Elijah's servant was devoted to him and he ran 150 miles with him....but a person who is afraid and involved in self-pity, can't even recognize faithfulness, love and devotion in others.

2Ch 14:7 For he said to Judah, "Let us build these cities and surround them with walls and towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, because we have sought the Lord our God; we have sought Him, and He has given us rest on every side." So, they built and prospered.

Notice that when God gives rest, it is time to build and prosper. Now, when you're running for your life or running from your problems and you finally have to stop to rest, the next step is logical, you are filled with self-pity.

Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word

Desperate people use other people.

In using people, the desperate reversionistic backslidden believer changes his behavior from being cruel and vindictive to polite and sweet.

Conjure up - qacam = to contact the dead.

1. We have the disguising of the body of Saul to make him appear that he is something that he is not.

2. We have the disguising of the soul. He is very polite with this woman.

3. He is also demanding counseling.

When a crisis comes, it is the believer who has stored doctrine in the soul that makes it.

But you will never face it unless, first of all, God has given you the time to learn the doctrine to face the crisis,1Co 10:13.

No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face.

He’ll never let you be pushed past your limit.

He’ll always be there to help you come through it.

To the extent that a believer has to go running to someone else, to that extent he is weak.

Walk by means of the Spirit, Gal 4:16.

4. As a backslider or reversionist, Saul is under a delusion.

Satan is the god of this world, 2Co 4:4, and in Jn 16:11, the ruler of this world, and in Rev 20:10, will be tormented day and night forever and ever in the lake of fire.

In 1Jo 4:4, greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

The Obh [Hebrew] or Engastrimuthos [Greek] ventriloquist demon controls the vocal cords of the unbeliever who speaks in tongues as a Satanic operation to distract that person he indwells from either salvation in the case of unbelievers or from doctrine in the case of believers.

a. Demons have been in control of rulers of nations, Eze 21:21; Dan 10:13 and also kings, 2Ki 21:1-17.

b. There are some that indwell animals, Mark 5:11-12.

c. Demons (like humans) are not created equal and possess different authority, Eph 6:12.

Some demons are related to violence, Mat 8:28.

They cause abnormal behavior such as - Screaming and crying, Mark 5:5.

Suicide, Mark 5:5.

Foaming at the mouth, Mark 9:20.

Streaking, Luk 8:27.

Grinding of teeth, Mark 9:28.

Then we have the intelligent demons who cause the rise of certain world leaders, 2Th 2:9; Rev 16:13-14.

Demons also cause wars, Rev 20:8.

She already knows that he is a sucker or he would not be there.

How do you treat a sucker?

Fatten him up a little bit.

How do you get him ripe for the kill?

You pump up his inflated ego with hot air.

The more pride that Saul has when he sits down at a seance, the dumber he is and he won’t catch on to any of the fakery.

Pride blinded Elijah in 1Ki 19 so much that he actually thought that God could not make it without him.

Rom 11:4 “I have kept for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”

A proud person is one who is so afraid to be wrong that they will justify their wrong decisions instead of admitting to truth.

For men only... the prouder you are the easier it is for you to fall.

To the extent that he is filled with pride to that extent he is defeated.

He is such a sucker, and is stupid. 2Co 2:11; Eph 6:12.

Notice while the woman is demon possessed she gives overt recognition to the laws of the land and government.

Demon possessed people obey the law.

Demon possessed people operate under the laws of establishment as long as Satan has a better hand.

His trump cards are the backslidden or reversionistic believers. “Why aren’t there many people having demons cast out of them?”

Because Satan has enough believers on his side without needing to possess.

We see demon possession manifest by respectability.

Negative volition = the believer who takes in doctrine until he reaches maturity but reacts to disillusion, boredom, discouragement, self-pity, frustration, or some other reactor factors in his soul, which becomes an obsession.

Saul’s reactor factor in his life was his jealousy of David.

He wound up under reverse process reversionism and the sin unto death.

Negative emotionalism describes the believer who becomes negative to doctrine.

Satan administers his authority by means of a great invisible host of fallen angels known as demons.

In Rev 12:4, Satan convinced one-third of the angels in heaven to join with him and his rebellion.

It is when a demon possesses a man that some obvious, evil comes into the picture.

Ever since Gen 6, when demons had sexual intercourse with the women on the earth, certain fallen angels have been placed in a prison, 2Pe 2:4; Jude 6.

Demon influence and-or demon possession is now the order of the day.

Free will involvement is the only way demons can operate.

It was some demon under Satan’s command that motivated Cain to kill Able, 1Jo 3:12; Jn 8:44.

Satan was also given the opportunity of executing the sin unto death to a born-again believer in Corinth, 1Co 5:5.

We have the thorn in the flesh, 2Co 12:7, the skin cancer that came to Job in Job 2:6-8.

This woman had a demon named Obh (Ov) in the Hebrew. In the Greek it is called Engastrimuthos (demon of the vocal chords).

For the true use of tongues is to direct you to 1Co 14:21-22; Isa 28:9-11.

The apostle Paul states that when the perfect or the complete Bible comes that tongues would cease, 1Co 13:8-10.

Tongues continues as a satanic operation even through the Tribulation period, 2Th 2:7-12.

A trance means the woman has lost consciousness and the demon now speaks using the vocal chords of the unconscious person.

Hymn #1

Hymn #2

REBOUND

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins to God; the issue for you is to believe by faith alone in Jesus, The Christ alone for eternal life [salvation] and you will be saved [receive Eternal Life] the very micro second you believe in Him:

John 6:47 says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” NKJV

Notice again what John 6:47 says, “he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” It doesn’t say, “will have”; it says, “has.” Therefore, the very moment you believe Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life, you have it (it’s really just that simple), and it can never be lost or taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-18 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness [Num 21:4-9], even so must the Son of Man be lifted up [the cross], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for learning God’s Word, if there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

This ministry is non-denominational and is dedicated to teaching the Word of God from the original languages and making it available at no charge throughout the world.

To participate in today’s “Lord’s Supper” service, prepare a little piece of bread (preferably unleavened— e.g., flat bread or pita bread) and some Welch’s grape juice or red wine [about a teaspoon full] eat and drink when instructed to do so in the service. You may consider getting some unleavened bread wafers from your local Christian book store or from the Internet for future communion services.

Internet Church Service – September 25, 2022; A Defense Mechanism that likes to blame others for things going wrong.

We begin with our fourteenth “Defense Mechanism” this morning which is (14) Devaluation which is a

Defense Mechanism where the person attributes exaggerated negative qualities to self and others. This type of person is always putting self and or others down and is otherwise known as a pessimist. Job’s wife was a pessimist and she looks at things in their lives as being half-empty rather than half-full.

However, in Job’s case, he was an optimist and therefore no matter what life brings, the optimist sees that every negative thing has positive aspects. For example, failure is not falling down, you fail when you don't get back up.

The pessimist needs to learn that failure can be the first step to success. And that falling down does not signify failure but staying there does.

An optimist is a person who sees a green light everywhere, while a pessimist sees only the red stoplight.

A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

The pessimist sees that negative thinking produces negative thoughts that express negative words.

However, the optimist sees that positive thinking will produce positive thoughts which is usually positive words of edification that we all need to hear every now and then.

Eph 4:29, Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear.

There are many believers who are involved with pessimism, which is the tendency to take the most unfavorable view of situations, or to expect the worst outcome in any circumstances. These are not the kind of people you want in your presence; you want those who are positive and say positive things rather than focus in on the negative.

Optimists generally approach life with a positive outlook, while pessimists tend to expect the worst.

They did not realize that Job was an optimists who goes into new situations with high expectations, while pessimists keep low expectations to prepare for negative outcomes. “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”

Because a person who sees nothing beautiful in the work of God is not worth our difficulty and every opportunity, especially if they are pessimist. I hope, in the spirit of the optimist to be whom every difficulty is an opportunity, and not as the pessimist, to whom every opportunity presents some difficulty.

This is a time when we need faith, faith of a very definite and positive nature, the faith that will lead us to optimism and contribute to the believer becoming a part of the pivot.

“When you wake up every day, you have two choices. You can either be positive or negative; an optimist or a pessimist -- It’s all a matter of perspective.”

Fear and pessimism paralyze men with skepticism and futility. One must have a sense of humor to be an optimist in times like these. The optimist has won half the battle, the most important half that applies to himself, when he begins his approach to a subject with the proper mental attitude. Optimistic thoughts will make your day bright and productive, while pessimistic thinking will make it dull and wasteful.

Face each day cheerfully and courageously, and it will naturally follow that your work will be a real pleasure and progress will be a delightful accomplishment.

PSD #4, Grace orientation, PSD #8, Impersonal love for all mankind would solve this problem.

(15) Displacement is a defense mechanism which attaches to a neutral object mental consents which were originally attached to someone or something else.

This is when a person starts falling in love with their boat or their car or their animals because they were hurt by someone else or because they want to fulfill a certain need they once had!

PSD #5, Doctrinal orientation, PSD #6, A personal sense of destiny, would solve this problem.

(16) Hypochondria is a defense mechanism where the person becomes preoccupied with physical symptoms disproportionate to any actual physical disturbance.

The pain can even be very real to these people.

PSD #5, Doctrinal orientation, PSD #6, A personal sense of destiny, PSD #7, Personal love for God the Father, PSD #10, Occupation with Christ as the priority solution to life would solve this problem.

(17) Direct attack is a defense mechanism in which anger is used as a solution to the problems and frustrations of life.

Weekly Bible Study, September 19, 2022, The Doctrine of Negative Volition. Part 2. Saul's negative volition and the witch of Endor.

Negative volition is refusal of Bible doctrine divided into two categories.

A. Primary negative volition is refusal to assemble for Bible teaching, the rejection of your right pastor teacher and his authority.

B. Negative volition - refusal to transfer doctrine from the left lobe to the right lobe.

There is also the refusal of the faith-rest technique as a part of negative volition.

He fails to appropriate promises, to utilize doctrine which he has already learned, to utilize the principles and to mix them with his faith, Heb 4:2.

Saul went to the witch of Endor, held a seance, and still there was silence, until Samuel entered the scene.

Urim and Thummin

The real breastplate or the checkerboard, the Urim and Thummin, is with David.

Saul executed 85 priests, 1Sa 22:18, and the Ephod went with the one priest who escaped, Abiathar, 1Sa 22:22.

You have to have the real thing, the high priest and the breastplate, and Saul had neither.

When the backslider or the reversionist needs doctrine the most, he has it the least.

In verse 6, the reversionist or the backslider seeks miracles, signs and wonders in time of pressure. The reversionist or the backslider is totally thoughtless.

“I know you are busy but, I‘d like to take a few moments of your time.”

Translation: three hours of boring, dull, depressing conversation, usually a monologue.

Reversionists or backsliders are usually thoughtless; they are whiners, selfish, they lack sensitivity and common courtesy.

The first sign of a reversionist or backslider is his refusal to listen to the word of God.

Only believers with doctrine can survive the heartaches, the pressures, the catastrophes of life.

Saul lost the spiritual battle before he lost the physical or natural battle.

You never lose the visible without first losing the invisible.

Saul is now accepting necromancy which is the practice of supposedly communicating with the spirits of the dead in order to predict the future.

He is in the last stages of reversionism, which is hardness of the heart, blackout of the soul, ending in physical death.

Contact with necromancers and mediums was specifically forbidden by the word of God, Lev 19:31.

Contact with necromancers and mediums was a sign of reversionism or backsliding and brought on divine discipline, Lev 20:6.

The believer who has negative volition toward doctrine will end up with the vacuum of the soul opening up and drawing in 1Ti 4:1, doctrine from demons.

The black-out of the soul plus the hardness of the heart causes the believer not to understand doctrine they have previously understood.

If Saul had been learning his doctrine he would have known and understood the book of Judges and how Gideon handled this same problem, and at this point it was one bit of doctrinal information he could have applied.

You never know when you are studying the word of God, what doctrine you are going to need.

If Saul had simply remembered what Samuel had taught him about Gideon he would have been victorious.

Reversionism or backsliding leads to instability.

Frightened one moment and courageous the next.

The reversionist or the backslider seeks to use the Lord.

Delusion, deception, and superstition mark the believer who is backslidden.

The reversionist or the backslider can use a number of disguises; here it refers to clothes but in other cases it could also mean vocabulary and personality disguises.

He is obviously unstable, Jm 1:8; Jm 4:8.

Saul is only going to change his clothes to disguise himself, but the most dangerous types are those who change their personality.

Just as you would use clothes to disguise the body, personality can disguise the soul.

It is interesting that Saul was the king who had prohibited the practice of divination and necromancy.

What has happened to Saul in reversionism explains why many believers begin with doctrine as Saul did, sound, conservative, courageous, but then they give lip service to doctrine and reversionism always changes these people.

Life is something that continually changes.

We not only undergo physical change as we stay in this world, we also undergo mental change and spiritual change.

Cowards do the wrong-brave things.

In dangerous situations, cowards are unpredictable.

1. Saul’s military is weak and limited.

Because Saul has been so busy with personal vengeance, chasing David, that he has neglected the military training of his nation.

2. Saul is a believer, a reversionistic backslidden believer.

Saul should have been listening to doctrine; instead he is creeping from rock to rock, so as not to be seen, going to a seance.

3. It isn’t courage that is needed; it is good training and discipline. Heroes don’t make the difference. Brains make the difference. Brains, discipline, and recognition of authority equals victory.

4. The Jewish army no longer has discipline.

5. Saul is now under the sin unto death and divine discipline. Jonathan wasn’t a reversionist or the backslider, but he is going to die by association.

6. Saul’s problems =

a. He is desperate

b. He is confused

c. He is filled with human viewpoint

d. He is under demon influence

e. He has blackout of the soul

f. He has hardness of the heart

Zep 3:15 The king of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; you will fear disaster no more.
