Hymn #1

Hymn #2

Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word

Before we begin, only if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is; you have believed [trusted] in Him for His promised gift of eternal life) John 3:16, John 6:47 as a few examples; it is very important to prepare yourself to learn God's Word so the Holy Spirit can teach you as to what your reading or hearing is true or false. To be taught by the Holy Spirit you must be filled with the Holy Spirit which means abiding in Christ. To place yourself in fellowship with God the Holy Spirit [also called abiding in the Christ], take a moment to simply name, cite or acknowledge [confess] your known unconfessed sins privately to God (i.e.; with your thoughts directed only to God the Father). Why? Because you cannot grow spiritually if you’re not abiding in Christ [in fellowship with Him] when you take in bible truth.

1 John 1:9, says: “If we confess [meaning to simply name, cite or acknowledge to God the Father] our sins [known unconfessed sins], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins [known sins] and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [all unknown and forgotten sins];” NKJV (New King James Version); we call this REBOUND; read the full doctrine as to “why” we need to use 1 John 1:9 to grow spiritually. Left click the following link to learn more and fully understand the doctrine of Rebound; which answers the question, why do I need to keep confessing my sins all the time? REBOUND

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins to God; the issue for you is to believe by faith alone in Jesus, The Christ alone for eternal life [salvation] and you will be saved [receive Eternal Life] the very micro second you believe in Him:

John 6:47 says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” NKJV

Notice again what John 6:47 says, “he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” It doesn’t say, “will have”; it says, “has.” Therefore, the very moment you believe Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life, you have it (it’s really just that simple), and it can never be lost or taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-18 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness [Num 21:4-9], even so must the Son of Man be lifted up [the cross], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for learning God’s Word, if there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

NOTES

Unlike the bible study, these notes are not just for reading without watching the video. These notes are more designed to follow along during the sermon and to bring up the “hover pop-up scripture references;” if just hover doesn’t work, do a “control-left-click,” if that doesn’t work then look them up in your Bible) when the Pastor asks everyone to turn to that passage in their bibles.

How Occupation With Christ Can Handle People Testing.

We are still noting PSD [problem solving device] #10, Occupation with Christ and how it relates the Christian soldier to the glorification of God.

The phrase “in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, {that is,} Christ {Himself} should be translated” in a epignosis of the mystery doctrine about Christ.

The only wealth worth having is the wealth that God provides in escrow blessings.

2Co 5:14 For the love of Christ motivates us.

In this motivation test, there is always the temptation to take the easy route of money, security, fame, and lose forever the conveyance of your escrow blessings.

There is always the disaster testing as we noted recently that will make you prosperous.

There must be faith, spiritual self-esteem, or maximum spiritual growth, if you are going to have your escrow blessings imputed to you in time as a down-payment of escrow blessing for the eternal state.

As Jeremiah said in Jr 17:17 “Thou art my refuge in the day of disaster.”

In disaster testing, it can be very difficult to trust in the Lord and not fight back or seek revenge and self- survival and that’s why Psa 4:5 says.

Psa 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And trust in the Lord.

Trust in the Lord is called a sacrifice because in time of disaster the tendency is to trust in yourself!

Psa 50:14 says the same thing, “Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High;

Psa 50:15 And call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.”

5. People testing.

(a) In personal love or admiration, the object of your love often controls your life and provides for you misery and unhappiness.

You have attained occupation with Christ at spiritual self-esteem, spiritual autonomy, or spiritual maturity, and then you will be able to handle people testing.

In wanting to please the object of your personal love, you find yourself being a different person and not following your normal standards and functions.

(b) Personal hatred or animosity where the object of your antagonism or irritation ofte

n has control of your life unless you have advanced to Occupation with Christ.

Under the PPOG [predesigned plan of God], God designed his plan so that your happiness will always reside in you, and you do not depend on people or things for your happiness.

Jn 15:11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My happiness may be in you, and that your happiness may be made complete.

You are supposed to have personal control of your life, a personal sense of destiny, self confidence from metabolized doctrine, and therefore, poise and command of self.

You bring your happiness to others, but do not lean on others or circumstances for your happiness.

But, Unless you attain spiritual adulthood, every time you fall in love or acquire a friend, the object controls your life and eventually your peace and happiness.

When you fall in love, look how you act, how you change your modus operandi, (manner of operation) and how you begin to think in different terms relating everything you do to that person.

When you make a friend or fall in love, when you become jealous, possessive, when you hate anyone who has it over you; you’ve immediately become a slave to that relationship.

You’ve manufactured for yourself many problems, and they’re not all the fault of the object.

The solution to people testing is found in the combination of personal love for God and impersonal love for all mankind.

In studying the book of Philippians, we noted very clearly that they were a very unselfish church especially as we were told in Php 2:3-5.

There were people who had stumbled and fallen from their spiritual stability into conceit and pride and were more concerned about the things of their own life than the things of others.

Two women were able to lead divisions that could have split the church and the different groups who took sides and had an intense disagreement with others.

These were two prominent women in the church and that is why it was significant enough for Paul to have identified the women by name in Php 4:2.

One of these occupational hazards of people testing is personality conflict with members of the congregation.

This can even occur when you’re in supergrace or no man’s land on your way to ultra-supergrace, which is the subject of Php 4:2-3.

The believer cannot advance from supergrace to ultra supergrace and at the same time become involved in pettiness or personality conflicts either in the local church, or at home, or anywhere else.

In people testing, pettiness is an occupational hazard that overtakes people who have never been petty before when they lived in no man’s land between supergrace and ultra supergrace.

Two women in the Philippian congregation have reached supergrace and started out into no man’s land.

You have a blackout in the soul and you forget Mat 25:40 “Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.”

Not only is the personality of the pastor not an issue, but here is something else, neither is anyone else’s personality an issue.

2Co 5:16 Therefore from now on we recognize no man according to the flesh;

1Co 2:2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

You have a personality conflict with someone but that other person’s personality is not an issue, neither is yours to them.

Do you know that occasionally people leave our ministry, be it face-to-face or non-face-to-face, they don’t like someone, or they can’t stand some person’s personality.

They have psychotic reversionism, neurotic reversionism, psychopathic reversionism, but as long they’re running lose, they haven’t bothered anyone.

No personality is an issue when you walk through these church doors, whether it’s a door that is face-to-face or non-face-to-face, they don’t like someone, or they can’t stand some person’s personality.

Do you know when it is harder to keep your priorities straight more than any other time?

Answer = When you crack the maturity barrier and get into supergrace and even ultra supergrace because than you may develop a hypersensitivity for certain types of personalities, and you become antagonistic.

When it becomes a personality conflict, you are shot down an

d so is the person with whom you have a conflict with especially if they do as well.

Is there anyone in this congregation that you cannot stand?

If you have a personality conflict, the last thing in the world is to run up and tell them that you don’t like them and apologize or write them a little note.

I have seen not one but many marriages destroyed, separated and even divorced because one of the mates had to be so honest with the other that they shared their intimate thoughts and actions with the other.

If you have a personality conflict, the last thing in the world is to run up and tell them that you don’t like them and apologize or write them a little note.

1Pe 3:7 You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel so that your prayers may not be hindered.

Do you realize that a personality conflict between a husband and wife shoots down their prayers and their prayers do not get answered?

The worst thing you can do as a progressing, advancing believer, the worst thing you could do as a supergrace believer is to get into a personality conflict with anyone.

This is why it is extremely important that you pass people testing and make godly decisions from a position of strength.

Common sense ought to tell you that life is too short.

We have two women that reached supergrace, both moved out into no man’s land, and started bickering at each other, and therefore were failing people testing.

The command to stand firm in the Lord, is a command that is given because of the fact that Satan and his kingdom of darkness is now trying to cause divisions in the local church at Philippi.

The reason why Paul says “stand firm in the Lord, my beloved,” is because Paul does not want to see a division hit the church at Philippi.

Two women, coming up in Php 4:2, Euodia and Syntyche, were being used by Satan to start divisions that could have split the church because they had an intense disagreement and others were joining them by taking sides.

These were two prominent women in the church and that is why it was significant enough for Paul to have identified the women by name in Php 4:2.

Lk 12:48 Everyone who has been given much shall much be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.

2Co 6:3 giving no cause for offense in anything, in order that the ministry be not discredited,

One of the major problems in every local assembly is personality conflict with members of the congregation, which can occur even when you are living the adult spiritual life.

Under people testing, two women have reached the maturity barrier, they were in supergrace.

Pettiness comes from a hypersensitivity and a predilection for certain mental attitude sins, starting with arrogance, jealousy, bitterness, vindictiveness, implacability [impossible to satisfy].

They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? = A theme for defeatism in life.

“Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.”

Mat 25:40 “Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.”

Not only is the personality of the pastor not an issue, as so often taught from this pulpit, but here is something else, neither is anyone else’s personality an issue.

He is saying personality and flesh is not the issue, the issue is your perception, metabolization and application of Bible doctrine.

The issue is Php 2:12b be accomplishing your own preservation with respect toward Christ and reverence toward doctrine;

In other words, no Christian’s personality is ever to be an issue in your spiritual advance and your calling and place in the body of Christ, 1Co 12:18.

Personality conflict is the inevitable result of spiritual death and the multitude of mental attitude sins, and the many, many, concepts in Satan’s world and his policy which is known as evil.

“I urge” is the pres-act-indicative of parakaleo which means to admonish, to command, to appeal, to urge, to exhort, encourage.

The present tense is known as an aoristic present which points to certain times (aorist tense) whenever believers are having personality conflicts or divisions in a local assembly.

The active voice, the apostle Paul produces the action of the verb of presenting a command to two specific people in the Philippian church who are about to be shot down by reversionism due to a personality conflict.

The indicative mood is declarative indicating the verbal action is from the stand point of reality.

The first of the two ladies involved in the personality conflict is called Euodia whose name means prosperous journey.

She is and has been a supergrace believer and she is in a real personality conflict with another woman.

Names meant a lot in the ancient world and usually the name would describe certain characteristics about the individuals involved.

From her name, we therefore conclude that she was a very capable and very professional businesswoman.

By our standards she would probably wear Gucci, Prada, Burberry, very tailored clothes with a professional personal type of grooming.

At this moment, Euodia is engaged in a personality conflict with another mature believer, whom she regards as flighty, a social butterfly, a flirt, and obviously she’s in competition with her.

“Hell has no fury like two women who feel scorned.”

Syntyche is the other woman whose name means pleasant acquaintance or happy chance or even an accident at times.

Syntyche was probably very talkative, lively, high spirited, playful and perhaps even a little bubbly at times.

She dressed in showy apparel compatible with her out-going personality.

In this case, two supergrace ladies are engaged in a conflict which is about to destroy their spiritual life and their spiritual advance all because they did not pass people testing.

1Co 10:13b God will provide the way of escape that you may be able to endure it.

Ps Sol 2:15 “Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, while our vineyards are in blossom.”

Lk 16:10 “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.”

Pr 6:16-17, There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: An arrogant look, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,

Pr 6:18-20, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness {who} utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.

Do you remember that conflict which developed between Paul and Barnabas, and do you remember the greatness of the church that did not take sides, and the conflict between them was isolated?

The personnel conflict was over John Mark, and one of the great, great things about the church at Antioch is that they absolutely did not take sides.

They took the position of the privacy of the priesthood and they did not take the side of Barnabas, nor they did not take the side of Paul, and the conflict was isolated.

The key to solving a people testing and a personality conflict is to stop talking about the other person.

It gets so bad that people take sides, and churches have been destroyed by this type of nonsense.

Jm 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.

By the way, Euodia and Syntyche could never have had a conflict if they had husbands who were real men or listened to the communicator of doctrine, who in this case was the apostle, Paul.

Have somehow disappeared from the world, and this is now becoming a woman’s world which is a sign of apostasy.

The woman is forced to rule because of her husband’s neglect.

Ladies are beginning to run everything, and it’s not always because they want to be in charge but because they are being forced to.

The last chance to stop that from happening is a pastor who will take those women and point them toward opposite exits and tell them to straighten out or get out.

There are too many men in this world who have never understood a basic principle of the laws of divine establishment, that the male lion wears the mane because he is the ruler of the pride.

Since this is a lost doctrine, (it got lost in the shuffle somewhere between women’s lib kicked it around with a few other things), it really isn’t brutal and it isn’t harsh as so many ladies like to think.

This doesn’t reduce women to slavery, it increases women to something that is fantastic and beautiful especially when they let their light shine and pass people testing.

We men cannot live without women, we just have to have women, but we have to have them on our basis which is the Lord’s divine order as given in 1Co 11.

We love women and we want women, but we want our women to be ladies and charming and feminine and filled with doctrine and have that wonderful attitude.

We can draw one conclusion about these two ladies, even if one was not really all that flighty and one was not all that intense, they were in a conflict and do you know one reason they were?

Because probably they were both married and there’s no doubt about it, their husbands did not control them.

If you don’t have a gutsy pastor who is willing to become your enemy because he tells you the truth then eventually you will not have a church.

People testing and personality conflict is on, and the first thing that Paul does in this chapter is to deal with it.

One, for the ladies to do it themselves, self-solution.

The other is to bring in some authority that can dominate both women and settle the matter.

“to live in harmony” is a present active infinitive of phroneo which means to think objectively, or to think the same viewpoint.

You cannot think objectively when you’re antagonistic in your soul toward anyone.

With the departure of objectivity comes hypersensitivity as well as subjectivity.

Then comes the psychiatrist who says, “What you need to do is sit around in a group and talk about it!”

And all you do is develop a stronger hypersensitivity, plus a justification for your subjective hypersensitivity, and therefore you are further behind the eight ball.

The present tense of the verb is known as a customary present tense for what is expected to occur in the case of a supergrace believer, she should live in harmony.

The active voice, the supergrace ladies, Euodia and Syntyche, should produce the action of the verb.

And the infinitive is what we call an infinitive of intended result in which the intended result should fulfill a deliberate objective.

It means that they must be looking at each other from the standpoint of doctrine not from the standpoint of whatever has developed the mutual antagonism.

This is finally brought to a close in verse 2 with the phrase en [in] plus the instrumental of kurios which is kurio translated: by means of the Lord.

The entire verse then should say Php 4:2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to be having the same viewpoint or to think objectively by means of the Lord.
