Hymn #2

Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word

Before we begin, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is— you have believed in Him for eternal life), it is important to prepare yourself to take-in God’s Word or participating in a Communion Service, so take a moment to name, cite or acknowledge your unconfessed sins privately directly to God the Father. This will assure that you are in fellowship with God the Father and the Holy Spirit’s convicting ministry, also called the convincing ministry will then be able to teach you as the Holy Spirit is the real teacher and the pastor’s message is the vehicle the Holy Spirit uses to convince you what you are learning is true or not.

1 John 1:9, says—“If we confess (simply name, cite or acknowledge to God the Father] our sins [known sins], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins [known sins] and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [all unknown and forgotten sins];” NKJV (New King James Version); we call this REBOUND, read the full doctrine as to “why” we need to use 1 John 1:9 to grow spiritually. REBOUND

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life>), the issue for you is not to name your sins to God; the issue for you is to believe by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life and you will be saved the very second you believe in Him:

John 6:47 says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” NKJV

Notice again what John 6:47 says, “he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” It doesn’t say, “will have”; it says, “has.” Therefore, the very moment you believe Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life, you have it (it’s really just that simple), and it can never be lost or taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-18 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for learning God’s Word, if there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

NOTES

Unlike the bible study, these notes are not just for reading without watching the video. These notes are more designed to follow along during the sermon and to bring up the “hover pop-up scripture references” (some websites may require to left click the link, if that doesn’t work then look them up in your Bible) when the Pastor asks everyone to turn to that passage in their bibles.

We must realize how helpless and hopeless we are without Christ, and how the Lord solved our sin problem.

We all have a legitimate desire to please the Lord, and this desire even increases as we increase our intake of doctrine; 2Pe 3:18.

These good intentions are hindered by the overtime work of the O.S.N. with its trends especially toward good and evil.

Doctrine is important because it helps you to recognize your flaws and the control that the O.S.N. has over you.

If I keep on doing what I do not want to do then I realize that the law is good because it does reveal my helplessness.

Because he has received TLJC, that he is no longer the one alive, but Christ is living in him; Gal 2:20.

Gal 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the {life} which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.

When he sins, it is no longer him, the new man or the new creature that sins but the old man which is within each believer.

If God’s people could only realize this, along with understanding the Doctrine of Positional Truth, they would become free from bondage and slavery to their O.S.N.

Because the nature of God cannot sin, and Christ is in him, Paul has learned to separate the two natures.

Self-righteousness and legalism and guilt and condemnation exist in the lives of most believers today.

What made Paul such a great apostle is the fact that he realized that his sins had been paid for and totally forgiven.

How can understanding Rom 7:18 actually be a benefit and blessing to the believer?

Before any believer can appreciate the divine solutions to the indwelling problems of the O.S.N. and the magnificent grace of God, the believer must be brought to the end of himself.

You must realize how helpless and hopeless you are without Christ and also how the Lord has solved the sin problem as well as the entire sin nature.

Isa 1:18 Come now and let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.

Isa 38:17 For you have cast all my sins behind Your back.

Isa 44:22 I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud, and your sins like a heavy mist. return to me, for I have redeemed you.

Isa 44:22 “Return to me for I have redeemed you.”

In Eze 16:63 the Lord said to people who were involved with the grossest sins you could imagine “I will forgive you for all that you have done”

In his sin nature, he has discovered that it doesn’t matter what he wills, inevitably he cannot do it, (alone, that is!)

This does not appear to be sin mentally or overtly from the old sin nature but simply the existence of the O.S.N. and the inherent flaws.

Even when we are trying our best the evil of the old sin nature is still there.

As you grow in the knowledge of doctrine, there can arise a tremendous conflict in the soul, not from the temptation of the old sin nature, but from the evil and the inherent weaknesses which are there.

Prin-Because we are in union with Christ we now are able to be sustained, nourished and empowered by the ministry of the Spirit.

2Pe 1:4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature.

This is how the believer who is united with Christ and granted the same power in which the humanity of Christ constantly lived in, is equipped to be imitators of God and to walk just as He walked.

Agape here refers to the natural life of the believer who lives in God’s Predesigned Plan of God.

Gal 5:16 “But I say walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.”

1Jo 2:6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.

Answer-the same power that TLJC operated under is the same power that has been made available to every Church-age believer. Heb 9:14.

It doesn’t mean greater in quality but greater in quantity.

The quantity is greater because the same power is now available to every Church-age believer.

2Co 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

You know that this is becoming a reality in your life when your thinking begins to change.

This is when your thinking is renovated according to the pattern of divine thinking in Bible doctrine.

Eph 4:23 and that you be renewed in the breathing of your mind or soul.

The sealing ministry of the Holy Spirit or what we would call the signature guarantee from God the Father.

2Co 1:21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ [predestination] and anointed us [baptism of the Holy Spirit plus the sealing of the Holy Spirit], is God [the Father],

2Co 1:22 who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit [filling of the Spirit] in our hearts as a pledge [down payment].

He wants us to have confidence and boldness as a pledge or down payment of better things to come.

Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and {began} to speak the word of God with boldness.

Eph 3:11-12, This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.

You can’t understand that the ministry of the Spirit is given the way that it is unless you have the appropriate doctrine in your soul.

Eph 1:13 “In Whom also, when you heard [common grace] the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also, when you believed, you were sealed by the Holy Spirit with reference to the promise.”

1. The guarantee of the validity of common and efficacious grace

2. A guarantee of eternal salvation.

3. A guarantee of eternal security.

4. It is the guarantee of your very own portfolio of invisible assets, which include your escrow blessings for time and eternity.

The noun sphragizo which means to set a seal upon something or to mark with a seal.

1. It was used in the ancient world for business transactions or business contracts.

Sealing as a signature was used as a guarantee of transactions, authentication of invoices, contracts, laws, directives, orders, policies of kings or rules.

In the spiritual realm, the sealing of the Spirit is God’s final stamp of approval.

The work for salvation is totally finished according to as John 17:4, 19:30.

God the Holy Spirit indwells us and seals us because God the Father signed a contract with us and He doesn’t change; Mal 3:6.

Mal 3:6 “For I, the Lord, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

1Sa 15:29 “And also the Glory of Israel will not lie or change His mind; for He is not a man that He should change His mind.”

1. Sphragizo or the seal was also used for a sign of ownership upon horses and chariots.

The sealing of tombs, libraries, treasuries indicated ownership.

1Co 6:19-20, Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body.

1. Sphragizo was also used for a signature for cashing checks.

This reminds us of all the resources that belong to God which He has made available to us.

1. Sealing was also used to protect something that was valuable like a treasury or library.

The analogy is that as believers we are of infinite value to God.

The Old Testament saints were called the “apple of His eye” in Zec 2:8.

In Mal 3:17 “We [born-again Jew] are His jewels”

Isa 62:3 “We [true Israel] are His crown of glory.”

As believers in the Church-age, we are His children, His sons, His heirs, royal priests, ambassadors etc.

1. It was used to seal fruit as a sign of approval.

He has presented us holy, unblameable, unreproveable; Col 1:24-25, Eph 5:22-31.

He has presented us “a glorious church” in Eph 5:27.

Sealing is a reminder of the fact that God loves us with an infinite love and will never change.

Since sealing was used in the ratification of treaties, it becomes analogous to the doctrine of reconciliation, in which man is reconciled to God through the death of His Son.

Living in the dungeon of the cosmic system is incompatible with the sealing ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Eph 4:30 “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit, by Whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

Eph 4:30 = every believer, through the signature guarantee of the Holy Spirit at salvation, is guaranteed eternal security, whether he is a winner or loser in the PPOG.

The soul is redeemed in salvation, but the body is redeemed in resurrection.

The day of redemption is the Rapture of the Church.

There are two guarantees of our portfolio of invisible assets: The sealing ministry of the Holy Spirit at salvation and the indwelling of Christ as the Shekinah glory.

The main principle of doctrine which distinguishes believers from the past and believers in the Millennium from Church age believers is that Church-age believers are “in Christ.”

Our condition is what we are in our Christian walk as we develop from infancy to maturity.

Although our position remains immutable and unchangeable our condition varies.

Understanding your position can change your condition, but your condition can never change your position, this is taught in Rom 8:38-39.

When we concentrate upon our condition we are not living by faith but by feelings and appearances.

The inevitable result of concentrating on your condition is that you become increasingly self-conscious and self-centered and enter into subjectivity.

Our main concern is to concentrate upon the condition of TLJC and not our own.

Notice the phrase in verse 18, “we are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

This is when growth develops and our Lord becomes manifested more and more in our condition.

If a believer does not know of his position in Christ he will struggle in his condition rather than rest in his position in Christ.

Believers are more aware of their condition than their position.

Prin-It is “faith” in the doctrines of our position that gives us the momentum and the divine energy to grow in our condition.

If the believer is not clearly aware of the specific doctrines concerning his position then he cannot exercise the necessary “faith” for growth and service.

We live in our position not by attempting to get into it but simply by seeing that we are already positioned in Christ.

Faith toward our position will bring growth in our condition.

Even our justification must be according to positional truth. Our justification is based upon the fact that we are “in Christ.”

Concerning positional truth, I am not going to spend much time on the doctrine itself, but rather on the main reason why the kingdom of darkness wants to blind your mind from positional truth.

Satan knows that if a believer does not know of his position in Christ he will struggle in his condition.

Believers are more aware of their condition than their position.

It is “having faith” in the doctrines of our position that gives us the momentum and the divine energy to grow in our condition.

Prin: Faith toward our position will bring growth in our condition.

We receive justification in Christ by faith in His word, which means that it is a “fact” which we must believe.

Our justification has nothing to do with our condition but everything to do with our position.

If we are at peace because of our justified position, our spiritual condition will be affected.

Positional truth therefore is related to our acceptance with God.

The believer who is not aware of his position of acceptance “in Christ” is caught up in the struggle to improve his condition in order to feel accepted by God.

Many believers seek satisfaction and a sense of acceptance through production and that is legalism all the way instead of receiving the grace of God.

Instead of life bringing forth service, service becomes the life.

As long as the believer serves and hustles around for God, he’s happy and he feels accepted.

Always remember, we are to be sons, not servants.

The problem many have is that they are seeking to “do things” for God rather than discovering who they are “in Christ.”
