Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word
Before we begin, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is— you have trusted in Him for eternal life), it is important to prepare yourself to take-in God’s Word or participating in a Communion Service, so take a moment to name, cite or acknowledge your sins privately directly to God the Father. This will assure that you are in fellowship with God the Father and the Holy Spirit’s convicting ministry, also called the convincing ministry will then be able to teach you as the Holy Spirit is the real teacher and the pastor’s message is the vehicle the Holy Spirit uses to convince you what you are learning is true or not.
1 John 1:9, says—“If we confess [simply name, cite or acknowledge to God the Father] our sins [known sins], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins [known sins] and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [all unknown and forgotten sins];” NKJV (New King James Version); we call this REBOUND, read the full doctrine as to “why” we need to use 1 John 1:9 to grow spiritually. If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins to God; the issue for you is to believe by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life and you will be saved the very second you believe in Him:
John 6:47 says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” NKJV
Notice again what John 6:47 says, “he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” It doesn’t say, “will have”; it says, “has.” Therefore, the very moment you believe Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life, you have it (it’s really just that simple), and it can never be lost or taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.
John 3:14-18 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” NKJV
Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for learning God’s Word, if there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

Sermon: The Lord will fulfill your desires in His time, not your time.
The function of a vine and its branches in the natural realm and then the principle of perception, metabolization, and application in the spiritual realm.
In the spiritual realm, no matter what we face in the devil’s world, the Word of God is always made available to those who desire to know the truth.
Psa 3:7:4 Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.
In the original language of the Hebrew King Solomon recognized that “hope deferred” was the opposite of “desire fulfilled;” (Prov 13:12)
Prov 13:12 Hope deferred = the Hebrew noun towcheleth which refers to the idea of “tarrying” and “confident expectation, trust.
Hebrew verb mashak – translated “deferred” = to draw, to drag, to seize, or to be drawn out, to be postponed.
It has the idea of waiting upon the Lord to fulfill certain desires in your life but these desires are fulfilled “in His time” not “in our time.”
“I am” = a present active indicative of the Greek verb eimi which means that our Lord keeps on being something, here He always keeps on being the true vine.
Notice that the present tense of eimi means that our Lord keeps on being the true vine for all the branches or literally for all believers.
The active voice says that our Lord produces the action of the verb which means that He produces and provides everything that the branches (believers) need to live.
2Pe 1:3, – divine power has graciously given to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
Participle = a divine purpose for using the vine and the branch analogy, — which is to reveal the dependency that the branches have as they learn to rest and abide “in Him.”
The word ‘true’ is the an adjective alethinos which means true, trustworthy, dependable. He is called a true, trustworthy, dependable Vine.
When the Lord Jesus Christ says, ‘I am the dependable vine’ it means He is dependable for inner happiness and contentment.
Prin: No believer has ever reached spiritual maturity and remained there very long without experiencing something of the great happiness which God provides for all.
The word ‘branch’ is the Greek noun klema which refers to the believers in the Church-age.
1. Relationship with the vine. We have a brand-new relationship with Him because we are in union with Him, just as the branch is in union with the vine.
2. The branch is also used by our Lord because “live branches” indicates productivity and the productivity for the Church-age must come from the believer who is on the earth.
2Co 5:20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Right now, the vine is in heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The branches, also known as believers, are located in two different areas, either in heaven or on the earth.
John 15 = is a passage that stirs me up because of all the great doctrinal subjects that our Lord mentions over and over again.
In Rev 2 and 3 = seven churches who are giving a command by TLJC [The Lord Jesus Christ] when he said; ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
All seven churches were given commandments that the Lord gave to us when He commanded us to also “Hear what the Spirit says to the churches”
In Heaven, all believers who have died are in an interim body in Heaven learning and worshipping the entire Trinity.
Those believers who are alive right now are given the role of an ambassador which is temporary and at this moment, they are conductors of productivity.
All things can be for our sake because we can turn anything from a curse to a blessing as we cause more and more people to give thanks as we abound to the glory of God.
We go from the human body to the interim body and finally to the resurrection-body.|
Now, every branch derives its life from the root of the Vine, as well as the vine itself.
Just like the branches derive life from the root of the vine so do believers derive resurrection life from their spiritual Vine, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The root of the Vine represents the foundation of the Vine as it refers to the stability and the basic foundations that are taught to us in the spiritual realm so that we can have a strong foundation.
For example, in Prov 10:25 we read When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.
Eph 2:20 having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,
2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal,
“The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord abstain from wickedness.”
Psa 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Thy throne; Lovingkindness and truth go before Thee.
Psa 97:2 Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
There are different approaches that believers can use concerning their “Eternal Security” that guarantees that believers cannot lose their salvation no matter what.
John 15 – our Lord is teaching His disciples the difference between suffering for blessing and suffering for divine discipline.
Why did the Lord teach His disciples such a controversial subject which really is about divine discipline and suffering for blessing.
Our Lord was preparing His disciples to always be ready to give to everyone the reasons that they can handle adversity or prosperity as well as deserved suffering and undeserved suffering.
All of us understand that we cannot lose our salvation by committing any type of sins and that is why I have chosen to emphasize the different approaches
we could take.
By approach I mean Phil 3:14 “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
You do not fall away from the Lord but believe that you can live the spiritual life as you forget what lies behind and reach forward to what lies ahead.
1. The Positional Approach: Rom 8:1; Eph 1:3-6; Jude 1.
Every believer is in union with Christ and is perfect in their position but not in their condition which is why the apostle Paul says certain things the way he does in Rom 8.
Notice, if you are “in Christ,” then this verse says you will never be condemned or judged by God no matter what you think, say, or do.
There is conviction by God the Holy Spirit, which is legitimate, but condemnation is not.
Holy Spirit conviction verses satanic condemnation is always a crossroads as to which way we will go.
Holy Spirit conviction always gives us a way out in which the grace of God is magnified and reconciliation is the goal of God the Holy Spirit.
Whereas satanic accusations condemn a person and has no way out except satanic condemnation.
It is the Spirit verses Satan.
Conviction verses condemnation.
It is life spiritually or death experientially.
Even though our lives will be judged according to the word of God, it is an evaluation of our works not condemnation for our sins.
John 7:24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
John 3:17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him.
John 5:22 “For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son,
John 12:47-48; ”I have come as light into the world, that everyone who believes in Me may not remain in darkness.
John 12:47 ”And if anyone hears My sayings, and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.
John 12:48 “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.
Even when our Lord had to judge us which was really His way of evaluating the lifestyle that we live; He did so with grace and honor motivated by agape love.
We are “in Christ” that is our position and not our condition.
Therefore, our position in Christ guarantees that there is no condemnation for any of us who have been saved.
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
The prepositional phrase “in Christ” gets right to the point — Because we are “in Christ” we will never lose our salvation.
Later on, in this passage the apostle Paul stresses that we are in Christ and we can never lose what God has given by means of grace.
What we have noted so far really has to do with the fact that we share what Christ has and we share who Christ is.
What a great doctrinal principle backed up by the “Divine Promises” from God; 1Jo 3:1-2.
Our Lord is seated at the right hand of the Father and we share everything that He has and everything that He is; Rom 8:29.
Rom 8:29 “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren;”
1. Christ is absolute righteousness; 2Co 5:21.
2. Christ is elected, we share His election — Eph 1:4.
3. Christ has a destiny; we share His destiny — Eph 1:5.
4. Christ is the Son, we are in union with Christ, we share His sonship; 2Ti 2:1.
5. Christ is the heir; we share His heirship; Rom 8:16-17.
6. Christ is sanctified, we share His sanctification; 1Co 1:2.
7. Christ is a King; we share His kingdom; 2Pe 1:11.
8. Christ is the High Priest; we share His priesthood; Heb 10:10-14.
We will all have to face not only deserved suffering but also underserved suffering as well; Phil 1:29; 1Pe 3:12-18.
The apostle Peter says that you and I can suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong. = Undeserved Suffering.
They are on the way from the upper room to the Garden of Gethsemane and it is along the way that Jesus gives the discourse on the true vine.
Eph 2:8-9, the apostle Paul said that salvation is a gift and in Rom 11:29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable [without Him changing His mind].
This whole analogy of the vine is to teach us about the believer’s vital relationship and fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ and what those benefits are.
The focus of this vine analogy is to emphasize production in the spiritual life which is what the passage refers to as bearing fruit.
The hills along the Kidron Valley outside of Jerusalem are covered with grape vines AND were covered with grape vines.
God specifically designed things so that this event would take place, that Jesus would go by the grape vines, and he would use this as an analogy of the believer’s relationship to Himself.
Billions and billions of years ago, the Lord created the grape vine in order to teach certain things about the Christian life and then Christian’s relationship to God.
God created the sheep so that He could utilize it as an analogy to teach certain things about the life of the believer.
One thing we learn about the vine is that the wood itself is useless.
You can take the wood of the vine and burn it to make heat. You can’t use it to make furniture or to make weapons.
The wood itself is virtually useless.
It is good for only one thing: producing fruit.
In the different forms of typology, wood represents humanity, sometimes in a good way, other times in a useless way.
The purpose for planting the vine is equivalent to salvation, but you don’t plant the vine just for the enjoyment of its growth.
The purpose is in the end result which is the production of fruit.
Only mature plants produce fruit. Immature plants are to continue to grow.
The purpose of a plant is to produce fruit but it doesn’t produce fruit until it is mature.
All the time it is maturing it has to be fed all the right nutrients under the right conditions, and then it absorbs all of that nutrition from the soil in order to produce fruit.
In many churches fruit is defined as going to prayer meeting, having your daily devotions, reading your Bible every day, giving to the church, witnessing, etc.
The Scriptures do not define that as production, that is the function of the believer’s priesthood, not production.
When talking about fruit—for example, in Gal 5:22-23—the fruit production of the Holy Spirit is “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,” etc.
Production of fruit is character, an inner transformation of the soul into the character of Jesus Christ.
That takes time, it takes the proper nutrition, the proper feeding and handling.
Two things: the filling by means of God the Holy Spirit—Eph 5:18; and the content of that filling is the Word of Christ—Col 3:16, “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you.”
