Hymn #2

Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word

Before we begin, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is— you have trusted in Him for eternal life), it is important to prepare yourself to take-in God’s Word or participating in a Communion Service, so take a moment to name, cite or acknowledge your sins privately directly to God the Father. This will assure that you are in fellowship with God the Father and the Holy Spirit’s convicting ministry, also called the convincing ministry will then be able to teach you as the Holy Spirit is the real teacher and the pastor’s message is the vehicle the Holy Spirit uses to convince you what you are learning is true or not.

1 John 1:9 says—“If we confess [simply name, cite or acknowledge to God the Father] our sins [known sins], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins [known sins] and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [all unknown and forgotten sins].” NKJV (New King James Version)

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins to God; the issue for you is to believe by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life and you will be saved the very second you believe in Him:

John 6:47 says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” NKJV

Notice again what John 6:47 says, “he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” It doesn’t say, “will have”; it says, “has.” Therefore, the very moment you believe Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life, you have it (it’s really just that simple), and it can never be lost or taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-18 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for learning God’s Word, if there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

NOTES
Unlike the bible study, these notes are not just for reading without watching the video. These notes are more designed to follow along during the sermon and to bring up the “hover pop-up scripture references” (some websites may require to left click the link, if that doesn’t work then look them up in your Bible) when the Pastor asks everyone to turn to that passage in their bibles.

Doctrine of Warfare. Part 4.

In Num 1:2-3, Jesus Christ commanded a census be taken so they would know who was able to go to war. The book of Numbers deals with the mobilization and war plans of Israel.

Universal military training demands total national conscription (ENLISTMENT), Num 1:2-3.

The only exception is a man who is newly married, Deut 24:5 when a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out with the army, nor be charged with any duty; he shall be free at home one year and shall give happiness to his wife.

The principle of mobilization is taught in Num 31:3-5.

Each generation must be trained in war, Judges 3:1-2.

Jdg 3:1 Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to test Israel by them ({that is,} all who had not experienced any of the wars of Canaan;

Jdg 3:2 Only in order that the generations of the sons of Israel might be taught war, those who had not experienced it formerly).

Luk 14:31, “What king or ruler of a nation, when he advances to meet another king in battle, will not first sit down and take counsel whether he is strong enough with 10,000 men to attack the one coming against him with 20,000 men?.”

Therefore true motivation for military training comes from God Himself.

2Sa 22:35, “He trains my hands for battle, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.”

Psa 144:1 “Blessed be the Lord my rock who trains my hands for war and my finger for battle.”

Now, military training is useless and neutralized when men of a nation are apostate, degenerate, full of emotional revolt and scar tissue of the soul, anti-establishment, addicted to drugs, and antagonistic to authority.

Universal military training gives you a scale of values you’ll never have in any other way…..one of which is that it prepares you for life.

This is why draft dodgers, slackers, and deserters are sinful before the Lord, Num 32:6, 14, 20, 23,

Num 32:12 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have followed the Lord fully.

The believer who stands in the gap and doesn’t quit is always oriented to reality whether its normal or abnormal times.

The believer who stands in the gap and doesn’t run away because of the pressure can say with the apostle Paul in PHI 4:13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

The reason being is because the believer who stands in the gap has inner resources and inner happiness.

And flexibility and adjustment to disaster comes from concentration on doctrine.

The principle is the very system by which you learn, which is concentration, is the same system by which you apply.

The believer for the crisis has the ability to recognize a disaster situation immediately.

The believer who stands in the gap can always do the right thing because he is always thinking and concentrating on doctrine. Therefore, disaster gives the believer for the crisis opportunity to apply doctrine and demonstrate its power in life.

Therefore, believers for the crisis keep on plugging and are persistent.

You see, it’s one thing to let sinful things distract you but it’s more respectable to let legitimate things distract you!

The great priority battle of life is one of the most vital battles we ever fight.

And that’s the basic principle behind the statement in Exo 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.”

Psa 138:2 I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. (NIV)

Psa 138:2 I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word above all Your name. (NKJ)

Psa 138:2 I bow down toward thy holy temple and give thanks to thy name for thy steadfast love and thy faithfulness; for thou hast exalted above everything thy name and thy word. (RSV)

Psa 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, And give thanks unto thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: For thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. (ASV)

James 1:22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

Since TLJC is not on earth, doctrine resident in the soul is the only strength for the believer prepared for the crisis.

Zec 2:5 describes that wall of fire when the Lord said, “For I, declares the Lord, will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.”

The key for the believer for the crisis is the ability to persevere and handle abnormal pressure and unusual circumstances.

There are three ways in which a believer who perseveres can meet disaster: through thought, speech, and or action.

Therefore, the believer for the crisis, through these three systems, dominates in disaster, so that people involved in the disaster are delivered, encouraged, changed, or in some other way profited from the disaster.

Remember that the Bible teaches in Rom 15:4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Heb 11:7 By means of doctrine resident in the soul, Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the deliverance of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

We are told that Noah was a man who walked with God in the midst of evil surroundings, Gen 6:8-12.

In Gen 6:14, 22, 7:5, Noah was assigned an unbelievable difficult task, the building of the Ark, however, he handled it magnificently in spite of the mocking and the jeering which took place!

He even warned his neighbors of the approaching judgment in 2Pe 2:5, even though they made fun of him and laughed and joked about that which he believed.

Think of it, the leadership of this woman who is called a harlot illustrates that even in a wicked environment a wicked individual could find grace by turning to the Lord!

It is also very interesting to note that this harlot also became the ancestress of David and therefore in the messianic line, according to Ruth 4:21-22, Mat 1:5-6, Luk 3:31-32.

The generation after Moses does not mention anyone by name in this roster of Heb 11, except one… The only one mentioned in that generation is a Gentile woman whose name is Rahab!

One of the greatest individuals, if not the greatest in the generation after Moses was Rahab.

And in verse 31 she is called “the harlot Rahab”, in the Greek it is “Raabh he’porne”

The interesting thing about her is the fact that she was one of those believers who went from zero to spiritual maturity very rapidly!

She also had a hotel and a rope manufacturing business and then she heard about the crossing of the Red Sea and the Exodus of the Jews.

It’s like Matt 13:58 says concerning our Lord and His acceptance in his home town, And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.
