Hymn #2

Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word

Before we begin, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is— you have trusted in Him for eternal life), it is important to prepare yourself to take-in God’s Word so take a moment to name, cite or acknowledge your sins privately directly to God the Father. This will assure that you are in fellowship with God the Father and the Holy Spirit’s convicting ministry, also called the convincing ministry will then be able to teach you as the Holy Spirit is the real teacher and the pastor’s message is the vehicle the Holy Spirit uses to convince you what you are learning is true or not.

1 John 1:9 says—“If we confess [simply name, cite or acknowledge to God the Father] our sins [known sins], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins [known sins] and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [all unknown and forgotten sins].” NKJV (New King James Version)

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins to God; the issue for you is to believe by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life and you will be saved the very second you believe in Him:

John 6:47 says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” NKJV

Notice again what John 6:47 says, “he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” It doesn’t say, “will have”; it says, “has.” Therefore, the very moment you believe Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life, you have it (it’s really just that simple), and it can never be lost or taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-18 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for learning God’s Word, if there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

NOTES
Unlike the bible study, these notes are not just for the reading without watching the video. These notes are more designed to follow along during the sermon and to bring up the “hover pop-up scripture references” when the Pastor asks everyone to turn to that passage in their bibles or as a memory jogger for review after you’ve viewed the video Sermon.

Doctrine of the Pivot; Part 27. The Completion of the Eight identity’s of the first beast.

Point 5. America and Biblical Prophecy and the Role of the Pivot in the Last Days.

IDENTITY 1 – is found in Rev 17:1 which says “Come here, I shall show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters,

IDENTITY 2 – Rev 17:2….says “The kings of the earth committed acts of immorality, and those who dwell on the earth were made drunk with the wine of her immorality.”

IDENTITY 3 – Rev 17:3 “I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.”

IDENTITY 4 – Rev 17:4 And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her immorality,

IDENTITY 5 – Rev 17:5 and upon her forehead a name was written, a mystery, “BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

IDENTITY 6 – found in Rev 17:6 And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus.

It doesn’t say she just “has the blood of saints on her hands” but it says that she is “DRUNK” with the blood of God’s people.

Did you know that the Roman Catholic Church has caused TENS OF MILLIONS of Christians to be persecuted and brutally murdered?

IDENTITY 7 – Rev 17:18 “And the woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.”

What is the one city which is also a church that “reigns” over the nations of the world? = RCC

What one city, which is known for its church has diplomatic relations with virtually all the world’s nations? = VATICAN CITY!

“Her large diplomatic corps maintains relations with more than 100 nations.” (Reports the U.S. News and World Report, October 30, 1978, p. 24)

There is only 16 more nations left for her to have FULL UNION with the whole world!

IDENTITY 8 – Rev 17:6 And when I saw her, I wondered greatly.

What is the one church that people would look at with awe and wonder? = The Roman Catholic Church, with all her splendor and pomp.

Millions of people flock to the Vatican each year and wonder at the “majesty” and splendor of the place.

This verse is tied in with the persecution by their power upon God’s people throughout the ages.

John already has seen great persecution upon God’s people at the hands of Pagan Rome when he was alive.

John sees an actual professed Christian church doing the persecution and killing God’s own people.

John 16:2-3, “They will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service to God.”

John 16:3 “And these things they will do, because they have not known the Father, or Me.”

The angel showed him the blood that the Roman Church, a professed church of Christ, was to spill in the name of Jesus.

1. The first statement and question was the fact that There are Two World Powers which are symbolized in Revelation chapter 13. Who or what is the first power?

The Answer for now is the fact that: The beast with seven heads is none other than the Roman Empire, especially the Roman papacy or the RCC and the place of the Pope.

2. In what year was the papacy predicted to lose its world influence and power?
When we talk about the influence and power of the papacy, we are talking about periods of time when the RCC and its pope had world influence and world power.

There was a time when there was really no such thing as the separation of Church and State, they were one and the same when it came to world power, politics and religion.

In what year was the papacy predicted to lose its world influence and power?

The Answer: Historical records reveal the papacy began its reign in 538 AD upon Emperor Justinian’s decree, and under the military protection of General (bela-sarious) Belisarius.

General Belisarius was one of the last important figures in the Roman military tradition, he led imperial armies against the Persian Empire, the Ostrogothic regime of Italy, and the barbarian tribes attacking Constantinople.

The Bible says the beast will rule for EXACTLY 1260 years before receiving a mortal wound, Rev 13:5.

First beast = emphasizes powerful religious organization.

Second beast = emphasizes powerful military organization.

In the interpretations we are dealing one beast which already was and another which is to come, but for the apostle John both these beasts were future as a far as he was concerned.

Rev 13 was probably written in 96 AD

First beast – lived from 538-1798 AD

Second Beast = Future beast {?}
{96 AD – 1st Beast 538-1798 AD {2nd Beast — ?}

In biblical prophecy, 42 months = 3.5 years or 1,260 days which also in biblical prophecy can refer to 1,260 years.

A period of only 1260 literal days, only 3 12 years, falls ridiculously short of fulfilling the requirements of the 1260-day prophecy in regard to the Rome and the Roman Catholic Church and the papacy.

When we function under the biblical prophecy principle that says that the number 1,260 days can also refer to years, the year-day principle of biblical prophecy is extended to 1260 years, and then the prophecy meets a unique fulfillment.

In 538 A.D. the Ostragoths abandoned their siege of Rome — and this left the Bishop of Rome to exercise the prerogatives of Justinian’s decree of 533 A.D. and then the power and the authority of the Papacy grew, and grew, and grew.

Justinian was a Christian emperor of Rome who appointed a man called Pope Vigilius to be one the leaders of all the churches, as the absolute and final authority throughout the Roman Empire.

Pro 8:15 “By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice.” Justinian decreed or put into law the fact that verse referred to the pope of Rome given absolute authority to the RCC and the papacy.

“The heart of the King is in the hand of God, and it will incline to whatever side God wishes”; that is to say, that He may confirm your empire, and maintain your kingdoms for the peace of the Church and the unity of religion.

“The heart of the King is in the hand of God, in other words whatever the king says, is from God.”

Then notice, the next part of the statement, “And it [the heart of the pope] will incline or reveal to whatever side God wishes”]

“That is to say, that he [the Roman pope or the pope of Rome] may confirm your empire, and maintain your kingdoms for the peace of the Church and the unity of religion.”

This gave one man the final authority in the Roman empire and the RCC, thank God he did not have this authority throughout the world, basically because of the Protestant religion.

The first pope was Pope Vigilius (died 7 June 555), he was Pope from 29 March 537 to his death in 555.

Byzantine refers to the Roman empire of the East.

Question: “Was Saint Peter the first pope?”

Answer: No, BUT the Roman Catholic Church sees Peter as the first pope upon whom God had chosen to build His church (Matt 16:18).

He said you are Peter or petros, a chip out of the stone or a part of the rock, and upon this rock, Petra, the massive rock, the fact that

He is Messiah, as Peter said in Matt 16:16 Thou art the Christ the Son of the living God, I will build My church.

“Upon this rock I will build my church”, He used the fut-act-ind of oikodomeo [to build] which means that the church did not exist at the time that the Lord said it, it was future.

Our Lord said you are Peter or petros, a chip out of the stone or a part of the rock, and upon this rock, Petra, the massive rock, which is the fact that Jesus Christ is the Messiah.

Like Peter we are all little chips out of the rock, but he, TLJC is the Rock, the only Rock, 1Co 10:4 we all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.

The RCC maintains that sometime after the recorded events of the book of Acts, the Apostle Peter became the first bishop of Rome, and that the Roman bishop was accepted by the early church as the central authority among all of the churches.

This teaching that God passed on Peter’s apostolic authority to the subsequent bishops is referred to as “apostolic succession.”

The RCC claims that it can trace an unbroken line of Popes back to St. Peter, citing this as evidence that it is the true church, since, according to their interpretation of Matthew 16:18, Christ built His church upon Peter.

For in Acts 15:1-23 compared to Gal 2:1-14, even the Apostle Paul rebuked Peter for his compromises with the early Christian and Jews.

Even Peter knew his place for 1Pe 5:1-5, he said he was a fellow apostle, or fellow elder and that there is one leader over one local church or assembly whether it is face-to-face or non face-to-face.

Nowhere does Scripture state that, in order to keep the church from error, the authority of the apostles was passed on to those they ordained (the idea behind apostolic succession).

What Scripture DOES teach is that false teachings would arise and claim apostolic authority even from among themselves, Acts 20:28-30.

Peter himself points us all to the true Shepherd and Overseer of the church, the Lord Jesus Christ (1Pe 2:25).

1Pe 2:25 For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

The first pope who came into power when Rome began its power in the Catholic Church was Pope Vigilius.

Exactly 1260 years later the Papacy suffered its “deathblow,” it lost its world-wide power and authority that it is also claimed in the political realm.

The spectacular victories of the armies of Napoleon in Italy placed the Pope at the mercy of the French Revolutionary Government, which now advised that the Roman Religion would always be a persistent enemy of the Republic.

The government urged Napoleon to destroy the center of unity of the Roman church, and Napoleon did just that.

In 1798 the French general Berthier, with a French army, marched into Rome and proclaimed the political rule of the Papacy at an end and took the Pope prisoner.

The 1260-year rule of the Papacy was finished or we could say the reference to the First Beast being the Roman Catholic church with the pope ruling the world seized.

If the prophecy is correct, 1260 years after 538 AD the beast must receive a mortal wound, Rev 13:3.

If you add 1260 years to the beginning year that the Roman Catholic church took over which was 538 AD, you will arrive in the year 1798 AD.

1,260 + 538 = 1,798

First understand, according to the prophecy, we learn that, “He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword…” Rev 13:10.

The prophecy is telling us that the beast would be destroyed with the sword (sword = a reference to the military) at the end of its reign of exactly 1260 years.

On February 10th Napoleon Bonaparte in that EXACT year 1798 A.D. sent his General Louis Alexandre Berthier, with his army into Rome, Italy.

“In 1798 General Berthier made his entrance into Rome, abolished the papal government, and established a secular one.” – says the Encyclopedia Britannica 1941 edition

That’s Exactly 42 prophetic months, or 1260 years, sometimes also called a time, and times, and dividing a time after the Papacy began its powerful reign that the Pope “shall go into captivity” by the military.

2. In what year was the papacy predicted to lose its world influence and power?
Answer: The Bible predicted that the papacy would lose its world influence and power at the end of the 42 months. This prophecy was fulfilled in 1798, when Napoleon’s General Berthier took the pope captive and the papal power received its deadly wound.
