Hymn #2

Preparing yourself for the study of God’s Word

Before we begin, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (that is— you have trusted in Him for eternal life), it is important to prepare yourself to take-in God’s Word or participating in a Communion Service, so take a moment to name, cite or acknowledge your sins privately directly to God the Father. This will assure that you are in fellowship with God the Father and the Holy Spirit’s convicting ministry, also called the convincing ministry will then be able to teach you as the Holy Spirit is the real teacher and the pastor’s message is the vehicle the Holy Spirit uses to convince you what you are learning is true or not.

1 John 1:9 says—“If we confess [simply name, cite or acknowledge to God the Father] our sins [known sins], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins [known sins] and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [all unknown and forgotten sins].” NKJV (New King James Version)

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins to God; the issue for you is to believe by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life and you will be saved the very second you believe in Him:

John 6:47 says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” NKJV

Notice again what John 6:47 says, “he who believes in Me [Jesus Christ] has everlasting life.” It doesn’t say, “will have”; it says, “has.” Therefore, the very moment you believe Jesus Christ’s promise of everlasting life, you have it (it’s really just that simple), and it can never be lost or taken away from you (John 10:28-29). Furthermore, the gift of everlasting life (also called eternal life in scripture) is available to every human being; there are absolutely no exceptions.

John 3:14-18 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” NKJV

Let us now bow our hearts and take a moment to prepare for learning God’s Word, if there is any known sin in your life, this is the time to just cite it privately to God the Father with your thoughts directed towards Him. With your head bowed and your eyes closed, you have total privacy in your mind and soul:

NOTES
Unlike the bible study, these notes are not just for reading without watching the video. These notes are more designed to follow along during the sermon and to bring up the “hover pop-up scripture references” (some websites may require to left click the link, if that doesn’t work then look them up in your Bible) when the Pastor asks everyone to turn to that passage in their bibles.

The Doctrine of the Sins of the Tongue.

“Why” people say what they say, “think” how they think and do what they do.

Their thoughts, words and actions depend upon the shoes on their feet…. or what they personally are going through in their own life.

The Doctrine of the Sins of the Tongue. Point 1. Definition and classification.

Sin is a violation of the law or standards of God.

Sin is also a transgression against divine law.

The sinfulness of sin lies in the fact that it is against God even when the wrong we do is to others or to ourselves.

Since God’s character and standards are perfect, anything that violates that has been defined in the scripture as sin.

When God gives soul-life at birth, He also imputes Adam’s original sin to the old sin nature so that he can deal with man’s #1 problem, rejection of the divine commands from headquarters in heaven.

Adam could only sin in the garden; He could not produce good or evil for he did not have a sin nature and once he did, the Lord expelled him from the garden.

Good and evil can only be produced after man has a sin nature.

We are spiritually dead before we commit our first sin.

The total depravity of man is given in Psa 51:5; 58:3.

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.

Psa 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb; These who speak lies go astray from birth.

The fact that the baby is safe and secure is given in passages such as 2Sa 12:23 “But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.”

They are safe because they have not reached accountability. John 4:11 “And should I not have compassion on Nineveh, the great city in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know the difference between their right and left hand, as well as many animals?”

They are saved because they have been protected by one or both parents in 1Co 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

We are also totally helpless to understand spiritual phenomena because we are dichotomous, having only a body and soul but no human spirit.

This is why we need to be born again so that we can become trichotomus, having a body, soul, and spirit as taught in 1Th 5:23.

1Th 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s also why our Lord said in John 3:3 “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Then in John 3:6-7, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

(1) Spiritual death at birth. (2) The function of human volition.

All sins prior to salvation are blotted out at the moment of salvation; Isa 44:22, 43:25.

Isa 43:25 “I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.

Isa 44:22 “I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud, And your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”

(1) Sins of cognizance, in which a person, recognizing the temptation as a sin, wants to do it, and he does it.

(2) Sins of ignorance, in which a person is not aware that the old sin nature is tempting him to sin; but he desires to do the sin, and he does it. An unknown sin is still sin and that is why our Lord forgives unknown sins in 1Jo 1:9.

Because all sin is related to the function of human volition, the believer is responsible for both categories of sin in his life.

You must understand that Jesus Christ was judged on the cross for both sins of ignorance and sins of cognizance.

When the believer acknowledges or names a sin of cognizance in rebound, he is simultaneously forgiven the sins of ignorance committed during the time of being out of fellowship.

1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all righteousness.

With volitional involvement, ignorance is no excuse, because both the sin nature and human volition are involved in the committing of sin.

Point 1. The essence of the old sin nature.

(1) The area of weakness. This is the source of all temptation to sin.

It is not sinful to be tempted; But it is sinful to succumb to the temptation.

(2) The area of strength. This produces a negative type good called human good. This is also called “dead works” and “wood, hay, and stubble; 1Co 3:11-15.

(3) The trends of the sin nature: legalism, which results in moral degeneracy; antinomianism, which results in immoral degeneracy.

(4) The lust pattern includes power lust, approbation lust, social lust, sexual lust, chemical lust, monetary lust, crusader lust, inordinate ambition resulting in inordinate competition, lust for revenge, criminal lust, and pleasure lust.

This includes power lust, approbation lust, social lust, sexual lust, chemical lust, monetary lust, crusader lust, inordinate ambition resulting in inordinate competition, lust for revenge, criminal lust, and pleasure lust.

(a) The lust pattern of the sin nature eliminates or destroys Bible doctrine as the number one priority in life.

(b) lust destroys the motivation of the believer to execute the PPOG. He neglects the principle of PMA of B.D.

(c) Lust is a distraction to the normal operation of the Christian way of life.

(d) Lust divorces the believer from reality, which nullifies the understanding and use of the problem solving devices of the PPOG.

(e) Lust turns the believer into a tricky and deceitful person.

(f) Lust destroys the believer’s motivation to glorify God, and turns the believer’s motivation into self-promoting motivation.

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew yourselves approved unto God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.

1Pe 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;

Psa 119:46 I will also speak of Thy testimonies before kings, And shall not be ashamed.

Psa 81:10 “I, the Lord, am your God, Who brought you up from the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

First, emotional sins. fear, worry, anxiety, hatred, which includes anger, violence, and murder, self-pity and guilt.

Mental attitude sins = These include arrogance, pride, jealousy, implacability, bitterness, vindictiveness, inordinate ambition and inordinate competition, all motivational sins, and sinful thoughts.

The third category is our subject verbal sins which include gossip, maligning, slander, judging, lying, and verbal deception.

The fourth category is overt sins They include chemical sins, sexual sins, criminal sins.

Now, all of this information leads us to Point 2. – The source of verbal sins.

All verbal sins originate from mental attitude sins, Which lead to motivational sins; Which lead to the sins of the tongue; Which are designed to destroy your life.

Point 3. Out of the seven worst sins from God’s viewpoint, not man’s but Gods’ three are related to the tongue as verbal sins, Prov 6:16 19.

A right lobe that devises evil plans [anti-authority sins, conspiracy, and revolution], feet which run rapidly to evil [a trouble-maker], a false witness who utters lies [perjury], and a person who spreads strife among the brethren [gossip, slander, maligning, judging].”

Point 4. The double standard related to the sins of the tongue.

The “emptiness” here is gossip, slander, maligning, judging from self-righteous arrogance; hence, the conversation of the believer involved in legalism and immoral degeneracy.

The legalism of self righteous arrogance has rejected the grace standards of doctrine.

The tongue is used to flatter those you are trying to persuade with regard to your slander, while at the same time slandering someone else.

Self-righteousness sets up a double standard of self vindication on the one hand, while judging and maligning on the other hand.

Flattery and hypocrisy toward those that you are speaking evil to. 2. Gossip and maligning that you do toward the one that you are speaking evil against.

The double standard also means that in arrogance the carnal believer ignores his own sins, while slandering, maligning, and judging the sins of others.

(a) Through subjective arrogance by creating a role-model and then destroying it through gossip, slander, maligning, and judging.

(b) He becomes a distraction to others through the function of legalism. in the slander, maligning, and judging of another believer, the self-righteous arrogance does not vindicate self, but condemns self without knowing it.

For example, the self righteous Pharisees thought it was “their duty” to destroy the perfect Son of God.

The legalistic judaizers thought it was “their duty” to discredit the grace ministry of Paul and stone him.

Rom 2:1 “Therefore, you are without excuse, every person who keeps on judging others; for in that you judge another, you condemn yourself, because you who judge practice the same things.”

The blindness of arrogance is that you are committing the worst of sins when you malign, slander, or judge someone else of committing some sin.

The self righteous arrogance of the evil believer assumes the prerogative of replacing our Lord Jesus Christ as the presiding Judge of the supreme court of heaven.

Legalism judges the sins of other believers, real or imagined, which are different from his own sins.

However, respectability maligning others is one of the most evil functions in the Christian way of life.

Prin – It is a double standard of arrogance to judge, slander, malign, condemn the sins of others, while at the same time being blind to or ignoring your own sins.

It is neither the duty, responsibility or prerogative of the believer to assume the role and function of Jesus Christ as the Supreme Court Judge.

It is the responsibility of every believer to judge his own life in the light of Bible doctrine.

Grace-righteousness and self righteousness are mutually exclusive.

However, in the case of criminality, that responsibility has been delegated by our Lord to the government.

After the resurrection of the church all believers will be evaluated by our Lord Jesus Christ.

The condemnation of all of the wrong things we have done. This is the ashamedness which is described as related to the judgment seat of Christ. 1Jo 2:28.

This is when we, that is “IF” we are winner believers, will receive rewards and blessings for all the things we have done to execute God’s plan if we have done so.

If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior (that is, believed in Him for eternal life), the issue for you is not to name your sins; the issue for you is to have faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life: John 3:16, 5:24, 6:47, 20:30, 31.

STUDY TITLE:

The Doctrine of Jealousy. Part 2.

We are still noting the doctrine of Jealousy which as we have seen is a very serious doctrine that can really destroy the spiritual life of the believer.

Point 1. Our Definition: Basically, the first sub-point describes the main definition of jealousy which is that jealousy is a mental attitude sin which demands exclusive devotion and is intolerant of competition.

Point 2. For the believer rejection of Bible doctrine produces envy and jealousy, 1Ti 6:3-4.

Point 3. Jealousy is a self-destructive mental attitude and a system of thinking from the Cosmic system.

Point 4. Jealousy, like many of the other mental attitude sins, can produce physical sickness as well as mental disorder.

Prov 14:30, A tranquil heart is life to the body, But jealousy is rottenness to the bones.

Point 5. Jealousy is the worst of all the mental attitude sins because it is the strongest of all mental attitude sins. Jealousy is the strongest mental attitude sin says Prov 27:3-4. Pride is the worst sin, and is the other side of the coin with jealousy.

Prov 27:3-4, A stone is heavy and the sand weighty, But the provocation of a fool is heavier than both of them. Wrath is fierce and anger is a flood, But who can stand before jealousy?

Point 6. So great was the sin of jealousy in Israel that a special offering was made for it in Num 5:11-31.

This now lead us to Point 7. Jealousy is the basis for the destruction of category two love (personal love of a member of the opposite sex), SOS 8:6 7.

In Psalms Solomon 8:6, the Shulamite woman is speaking and she says, “Put me like a seal over your heart, Like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death,

The seal signifies she belongs to a certain man and she is waiting for a certain man. The phrase “strong as death” indicates that the man’s love for the woman and her response to that love serves as a fortification and protection for the woman’s soul and body. Each protects the other, satisfies the other, fulfills the other.

However, notice next it says in SOS 8:6, “Jealousy is as severe as Sheol [or the grave]; Just as the grave robs you from a loved one so jealousy robs you of capacity in relationship with your loved one. And when it says in SOS 8:6, Its flashes are flashes of fire, The {very} flame of the Lord, it’s not a reference to jealousy but to category two love. Its flashes represent her responses to her right man are hot.

She is turned on first in her soul which carries over to her physical response. And these flashes she says are…the very flame of the Lord. Please note that the flame is from the Lord not the flesh.

Notice how strong jealousy is because in verse 7 “Many waters cannot quench love [however, verse 6 tells us jealousy can], Nor will rivers overflow it; If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love, It would be utterly despised.”

Water ordinarily puts out fire. And many waters simply refers to pressures, disasters, difficulties, etc. Rivers refer to the most horrible disasters of life which cannot destroy it. And there’s one more phrase here, this love cannot be bought.

If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love, It would be utterly despised.”

Solomon could not conquer this woman because she was protected by the love for her man. Now, the whole point here is that jealousy can destroy love between the right man and the right woman, that’s how powerful jealousy is. Think about it, pressures, disasters, difficulties, and the most horrible disasters can’t but jealousy can. Jealousy is the great enemy of love. No one with pride or jealousy has capacity for love. Jealousy has great power just as the fear of death has power.

Point 8. Jealousy is related to the suppression of pride, which is part of a trigger mechanism producing both false motivation and discord, Phil 1:15a.

Phil 1:15-18, Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy [or jealousy] and strife, but some also from good will; the latter [the ones who teach from good will] do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice, yes, and I will rejoice.

Here we have a right action, like witnessing, with wrong motivation, jealousy. Arrogance creates hang ups of the soul. These hang ups are the source of false motivation in life. These people are petty, jealous, and have inordinate competition. Pettiness is the little sister of jealousy; they are closely related.

Point 9, Jealousy is related to the three categories of love.

a. Jealousy, as an anthropopathism, is legitimate only by God, who demands all your attention and concentration when you reach maturity. This is why we read in many passages that God is said to a jealous God.

Exo 20:1-6, Then God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

b. In category two love toward a member of the opposite sex, the jealous person can be so possessive they smother the other person’s love and destroy it.

c. Then in category three love toward friends, the jealous person wants you to be friends only with them. They get upset when you associate with other people.

Point 10, Jealous people rejoice in the misery or fall of others.

Prov 24:17-18, Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; Lest the Lord see {it} and be displeased, And He turn away His anger from him.

The evil instincts such as jealousy or envy cause more sufferings and miseries to people than many physical diseases. For example, a person who is jealous or envious of others feels painful and resentful at their betterment, and feel happy only when some miseries take place in the lives’ of others. And this demonic instinct of jealously or enviousness is born from a false ego and a false opinion of self.

The jealous person is deceived because they think more highly of themselves than what they ought to. Gal 6:3, For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

And because of this, his false ego gets hurt upon seeing others enjoying an advantage.

Jealousy is like a serpent’s venom. It destroys the body, the soul and the personality of the individual. The body, mind and intellect of a person with such malicious instincts become nothing more than a “trash basket.” As a result, the jealous person looks for faults in others and never sees their good qualities and they think themselves faultless.

They disown their own faults and elude responsibility for those faults and throw them on others. They continually burn inside upon seeing others enjoy advantage. The jealous person can be compared to a “sanitary inspector”. A sanitary inspector spends his time inspecting filth. And therefore, the jealous ridden person spends time inspecting faults in others.

You see, jealousy is like a cancer, it grows and grows and grows until eventually it turns into outright hatred.

Gen 37:3-5, Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he was the son of his old age; and he made him a varicolored tunic. And his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers; and so they hated him and could not speak to him on friendly terms. Then Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more.

Then in Gen 37:9-11, Now he had still another dream, and related it to his brothers, and said, “Lo, I have had still another dream; and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” And he related it to his father and to his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have had? Shall I and your mother and your brothers actually come to bow ourselves down before you to the ground?” And his brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying in mind.

Gen 37:18-20, When they saw him from a distance and before he came close to them, they plotted against him to put him to death. And they said to one another, “Here comes this dreamer! “Now then, come and let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits; and we will say, ‘A wild beast devoured him.’ Then let us see what will become of his dreams!”

The Doctrine of Jealousy.

We have now begun Num 12:1 where we read after all the bitterness and lack of appreciation for what God has done for the Jews that Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman);

Now, who married the Cushite woman? Moses did.

And what did Moses teach?

Well, look at Deut 7:1-4, “When the Lord your God shall bring you into the land where you are entering to possess it, and shall clear away many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and stronger than you, and when the Lord your God shall deliver them before you, and you shall defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them.

You shall make no covenant with them and show no favor to them. Furthermore, you shall not intermarry with them; you shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons. For they will turn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods; then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and He will quickly destroy you.”

Please notice that intermarriage, which is marrying a person from another race was forbidden according to what Moses taught. And yet Moses seems to have violated the very command he gave to the Jews.

The point today is that under the dispensation of grace, we are no longer under this prohibition. But, even if we were, the principle is still the fact that god is sovereign and He has the right to allow that which He wills without having to give us the reason for doing so.
Why?

Because he is sovereign and as we read in Rom 9:14-23, What shall we say then? There is no injustice with God, is there? May it never be! For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth.” So, then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires. You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?” On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder,

Why did you make me like this,” will it? Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use, and another for common use? What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? And He did so in order that He might make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory,

In order to analyze this subject, it must be divided into parts:

1. What was the basis for the opposition to intermarriage?

2. How can a Jew oppose intermarriage without contradicting the natural instinct that he has to fight discrimination, especially after all that we have suffered throughout history as a result of racial discrimination?

Now, in the ancient world, the primary source upon which the prohibition for a Jew to marry a non-Jew was found in the Deut 7:3, “You shall not marry them (the gentiles, about which the Bible speaks in the previous verses), you shall not give your daughter to their son and you shall not take his daughter for your son.”

The reason for this prohibition is clearly spelled out in the following verse: “Because he will lead your son astray from Me and they will serve strange gods…”

Deut 7:4, “For they will turn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods or literally strange gods ; then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and He will quickly destroy you.”

“Other gods or strange gods” can also be interpreted to mean those ideals that did not conform to the dictates of the Torah, and before which one bows his head and dedicates his heart and soul.

However, today because of the times we live, we do not have to be concerned with this passage because the Gospel is taught everywhere.

The only true basis and justification for marriage is that it is a Divine institution and the Bible makes it crystal clear that in spite of your race, it is not good that you are unequally yoked.

The phrase “unequally yoked” comes from 2Co 6:14 in the King James Version: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

The New American Standard Version says, “Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?”

A yoke is a wooden bar that joins two oxen to each other and to the burden they pull. An “unequally yoked” team has one stronger ox and one weaker, or one taller and one shorter. The weaker or shorter ox would walk more slowly than the taller, stronger one, causing the load to go around in circles. When oxen are unequally yoked, they cannot perform the task set before them. Instead of working together, they are at odds with one another.

Paul’s admonition in 2Co 6:14 is a part of a larger discourse to the church at Corinth on the Christian life. He discouraged them from being in an unequal partnership with unbelievers because believers and unbelievers are opposites, just as light and darkness are opposites. They simply have nothing in common, just as Christ has nothing in common with “Belial,” a Hebrew word meaning “worthlessness” (2Co 6:15). Here Paul uses it to refer to Satan.

The idea is that the pagan, wicked, unbelieving world is governed by the principles of Satan and that Christians should be separate from that wicked world, just as Christ was separate from all the methods, purposes, and plans of Satan.

He had no participation in them; He formed no union with them, and so it should be with the followers of the one in relation to the followers of the other. Attempting to live a Christian life with a non-Christian for our close friend and ally will only cause us go around in circles. It is possible that you can still have a successful marriage but it will be very difficult for you to able to do so. There are the complications of how the children will be brought up and what will the family’s religion or spiritual life be based upon. I know quite a few mixed couples that were very much in love until the moment that their children were born.

All of a sudden they have very heated arguments regarding the education of their children, even though they had long ago resolved the issue theoretically. However, this is really not our subject, our subject deals with the jealousy of mainly one woman, Miriam.

Miriam is the leader. She is the gossip. She is judgmental. She is the one who is maligning Moses, and Aaron is merely the mouse. Now why were they maligning Moses?

Well, back in Num 12:1.

Num 12:1, Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman);

A Cushite was an Ethiopian at the time that Moses lived. They spoke a Semitic language and they were a dark skinned people who were a very powerful black race. Josephus records for us that she was a Cushite or an Ethiopian princess, and she was very beautiful and intelligent. She was not Jewish and she definitely aroused the jealousy of Miriam. After all, the Jews were being called out of Egypt to become a client nation to God and here is their leader marrying someone who is not a part of the Jewish race.

What do we have here?

First of all we have the criticism of someone because they got married again and to a woman who was not Jewish. What was our Lord’s response?

In Num 12:2-10, and they [Miriam and Aaron, Moses’ sister and brother] said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us as well?” And the Lord heard it. (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.) And suddenly the Lord said to Moses and Aaron and to Miriam, “You three come out to the tent of meeting.” So the three of them came out. Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the doorway of the tent, and He called Aaron and Miriam. When they had both come forward, He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, shall make Myself known to him in a vision. I shall speak with him in a dream. “Not so, with My servant Moses, He is faithful in all My household; With him I speak mouth to mouth, Even openly, and not in dark sayings, And he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant, against Moses?” So the anger of the Lord burned against them and He departed. But when the cloud had withdrawn from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. As Aaron turned toward Miriam, behold, she was leprous.

Moses first wife was Zipporah. And it’s a very interesting question, but whose business is it? Is it your business if someone gets married again? Is it your business who they marry or what race they are? No, it’s none of our business. Is it your business if they get married 10 times? Whose business is it? Is it yours or theirs? In other words, I want you to ask yourself a question…are you a Miriam or a mouse like Aaron?

So, there are two doctrines that are in view here and that apply to us, one is the Doctrine of Privacy, the other is the Doctrine of Jealousy.

Dispensation of the Mosaic Law. The Conspiracy Continues.

His associates were Dathan and Abiram, and a man called “On” who later on, for whatever reason, ended up backing out…..so there were three major players in the conspiracy plus 250 princes.

Anyone who tried to duplicate this was to be executed.

The aroma represented the doctrine of propitiation and the fact that God the Father is satisfied with the perfect sacrifice of TLJC.

Eph 5:2 He gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

The point is that you had to have the authority to do all of this. Not only did you have to have the authority but you also had to know the rules.

By tomorrow morning there will be over 250 new fire pans, new censers, and you and all your company report to the front of the tabernacle.

Ark-of-the-coveanant

Moses says, “If you want to be priests and think that you can perform the function of the high priesthood, go ahead.”

Moses has complete confidence that whatever happens, the Lord would show who has been ordained to function in the tabernacle.

1.The Altar of Burnt Offering

2. The Laver

3. The Table of Showbread

4. The Lampstand

5. The Altar of Incense

6.The Ark of the Covenant

7. The Mercy Seat

The offering of incense inside this tabernacle is one of the holiest functions of the Levitical priesthood.

Censer

In our day and age, the communication of doctrine is one of the holiest functions of the priesthood.

a. That he has the gift of pastor-teacher

b. That he has prepared himself properly for the ministry.

c. That he communicates doctrine accurately and precisely.

d. That he refrains from criticizing and judging others.

e. That he rids himself from negativity.

Negative attitudes are destructive to the ministry and multiply like a cancer whereas unity is needed for the believer and the church to progress and go forward.

In Num 20:8, where the Lord told Moses to speak to the rock.

When Moses called the people rebels, in doing so, Moses misrepresented the character and nature of God.

Tabernacle

When the Lord created the world He did not create it by means of His justice and righteousness or else the world would eventually be destroyed because mankind would not be able to live up to the Holy commandments of God.

Nor did the Lord create the world based upon just His grace and mercy lest the world would self-destructive from its distorted lust without any laws to keep the human race in line

What the Lord did was to create the world by means of His justice and righteousness and His grace and mercy, thereby giving mankind what he needs to worship and honor the Lord without any fears.

The rock was to be struck once says 1Co 10:4; Heb 10:10, 14.

The Lord still honored his man in authority even though his man failed.

Rom 14:4 Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and stand he will, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

Rom 14:4 Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and stand he will, if you judge him because the Lord will make him able to stand.

Let’s look at the doctrine of Christ the rock.

Point 1. Christ is the Rock of salvation; 1Co 3:11; Exo 17:1-7. 1Co 3:11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Exo 17:6 “Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.”

Point 2. Christ is the Rock of perfection. Zec 3:9 For behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua; on one stone are seven eyes. Behold, I will engrave an inscription on it,’ declares the Lord of hosts, ‘and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

Point 3. Christ is the rock of provision of logistical grace. Psa 144:1. (A Psalm of David.) Blessed be the Lord, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;

Point 4. Christ, as the rock, is the foundation rock of Israel. Psa 118:22; Isa 28:16. Psa 118:22 The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner stone.

Point 5. Christ is the foundation rock of the Church. Mat 16:18; Eph 2:20-22.

Mat 16:18 “And I also say to you that you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it.

Eph 2:20 Having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone.

Point 6. Christ is the destroying Rock of the second advent. Dan 2:34-35.

Point 7. To the unbeliever, Christ is the rock of judgment. 1Pe 2:8. “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed.
